      @@pedropelaez You do realize that the "artistic" in Artistic Gymnastics is there for a reason, right? It's not just about tumbling; it's about creative presentation and artistic expression. Dance choreography has always been a part of floor routine, and without it, you'd be deducted heavily. If you ever watched in the earlier days of the 70s during the Korbut & Comaneci era onward, you'd see an even greater display of it. Watch Dominique Moceanu's fun routine from the 96 Olympics. The point of floor is not to merely tumble, it's meant to PERFORM. Learn your gymnastics.

    • @pedropelaez
      @pedropelaez 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just like the “artistic” men’s floor? In the past the uneven bars were super close that didn’t allow for the difficulty we see today. Give me the most difficult routines done cleanly over pretty but simple (relatively speaking) routines. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    • @DM-cu5hp
      @DM-cu5hp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@pedropelaez Men's & Women's artistic gymnastics do not comprise the same events nor are performed the same, so trying to make that comparison is just silly. Whether you "care" for one type of routine over the other is totally your opinion, but don't discredit dance and artistry as if it isn't and hasn't always been a part of Women's Artistic Gymnastics. You'll just be showing your ignorance to the sport.

    The Canadians are so wonderful to watch. They just need to work on strength and endurance so they can add skills and increase their D-score. Brooklyn can add her front to double front. They won't have to worry about an extra 0.1 inquiry to up the D-score.

    I’m a big gymnastics fan from the USA! and although Simone is the GOAT for her acrobatic talent, this routine is incredible for both its artistry and acrobatic elements. Maybe not as difficult as Simone, Jade but it’s incredible nonetheless. It’s perfection in my opinion

    • @kathymilesmorgan6047
      @kathymilesmorgan6047 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Her last two passes were weak...last one landed very low...no amplitude...big difference between her and Simone. Also Simone's dance style is totally different, Simone's style is bouncy, sassy and fun, Brooklyn's is mega dramatic, it isn't fair to compare styles...when done well.

    • @MD-722
      @MD-722 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly what I say. Biles is WAG's greatest acrobat/power-gymnast of all time, and don't get me wrong, I love her for that, but if you were to take the tumbling out of both routines, you'd be left with far more from Moors' programmes than you would from Biles'--and that's nothing to do with Moors being 'balletic' because to use another VERY underrated American gymnast--in terms of their artistry--Kim Zmeskal. By far one of the most artistic Americans ever and not balletic in anyway.

    • @_padfoot
      @_padfoot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kathymilesmorgan6047 I don't know what about it "isn't fair"... Brooklyn Moors has superior artistry and style on this routine than Simone, and really to any other WAG elites right now. I think you're right that in general, most folks would judge balletic routines more "artistic" than the bouncy/playful routines, but in that latter category I do think that even Laurie Hernandez's 2016 floor has the edge over Simone.
      And of course, because artistry isn't really being judged, it all has nothing to do really with how excellent and dominant Simone is. Brooklyn Moors is not about to beat her for any floor medals.
      But, because I'm procrastinating I feel compelled to also defend Brooklyn's tumbling, which, though it has form issues, is by no means "weak". A double front to front full is on the higher end of difficulty for what's being done in WAG now. Same with the last pass, which had a major issue with form/amplitude, but in terms of difficulty, in a quad when lots of gymnasts brought back a simple double back tuck, there's no issue with the difficulty of a 2.5 punch front.

    • @MD-722
      @MD-722 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_padfoot I could not agree more with your comment about the tumbling. I've said in several comment sections that all D+ fwd twisting elements should be increased by 0.1, that the Maldonado (front triple full) should be bumped up to an H and that the bwd 3.5 should also be increased to a G.
      So on that basis if this were to be scored properly her middle pass would be an E+C + 0.2 CV = 0.7 (G). Then in the EF she actually added a stag jump to her Podkopayeva giving it 0.1 in CV therefore making it a G and her last pass would be worth an E with CV.
      So I fully agree, minus the form issues this is very difficult tumbling and could have contended well had it not been for covid postponing everything. But who knows, hopefully we'll see her make a suprise return for 2024.

      You would be very wrong to take that deduction. It's a very common transition out of that kind of turn in dance and is controlled really well. I could maybe understand a deduction for lack of control if her core was unstable in the transition (by that I mean hunching over/collapsing - you know a transition into the ground is controlled when their upper body remains in alignment), but even in slow motion it's apparent that Brooklyn is in complete control during her transition.
      I understand that it's a transition you don't see in turns often given how rare back attitude turns are in routines nowadays, but the way she handles it is actually extremely appropriate and smart from a choreography composition standpoint. A big marker of her style is how well one thing flows to another - tumbling and dance elements included. This transition helps that.

      I disagree. She can pull off the drama. I was a stage actress for many years, and one of my mentors taught me that there is no such thing as "overacting," just bad acting. You have to commit to every moment of the performance, and Brooklyn does that like few other gymnasts ever have.

      @@saramurray3057 I agree, but as much as I love this routine I get where the OP is coming from. Her expression is top notch and although she does actually dance at times, I do wish that she would have danced more (than just express the music through emotion) so as to maintain a greater fluidity of movement throughout.
      For instance, I'd love to see a rhythmic gymnast perform a ball routine to this music and I personally think that watching an RG (or dancer) perform to this (even freehand) would have helped a bit; especially during the times where she repeats the choreography.

Dont blame USA...blame the code. And no america doesn't need it when ever member can throw a double double in their sleep. These routines are in the code as and designed to be TUMBLING orientated with dance skills and a gymnasts personal brand of artistry (whether its dance, movements, expression, etc). So no.
