- Thursday afternoon drive around downtown Houston Texas, the 4th largest city in the US. Video focuses on the downtown area of the city and passes by a number of popular attractions and points of interest. Enjoy! Tag your favorite spots in the comments below!
Houston is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas, fourth most populous city in the United States, as well as the sixth most populous in North America, with an estimated 2018 population of 2.3 million residents. Houston is the principal city of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, which is the fifth most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States and the second most populous in Texas after the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with a population of 7 million in 2018.
Comprising a total area of 637.4 square miles (1,651 km2), Houston is the eighth most expansive city in the United States (including consolidated city-counties). It is the largest city in the United States by total area, whose government is similarly not consolidated with that of a county or borough.
The arrival of the 20th century saw a convergence of economic factors which fueled rapid growth in Houston, including a burgeoning port and railroad industry, the decline of Galveston as Texas' primary port following a 1900 hurricane, the subsequent construction of the Houston Ship Channel, and the Texas oil boom. In the mid-20th century, Houston's economy diversified as it became home to the Texas Medical Center-the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions-and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.
Houston's economy since the late-20th century has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. Leading in healthcare sectors and building oilfield equipment, Houston has the second most Fortune 500 headquarters of any U.S. municipality within its city limits (after New York City). The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled. Nicknamed the "Space City" and "H-Town", Houston has become a global city, with strengths in culture, medicine, and research. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. Houston is the most diverse metropolitan area in Texas and has been described as the most racially and ethnically diverse major metropolis in the U.S. It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.

And then there's Austin. The city that's PrEpArEd FoR tHe FuTuRe but rejects every solution to its basic infrastructure problems
Calm with 2 million residents, possible !! but just explain in detailes ,what is that mean.Calm in traffic,Calm in the street, calm in the Disco,Calm in the Houston Rockets Arena, tell us
I agree!!! Also according to KC’s mayor Quinton Lucas the city (KCMO) has a population around 505,000!!🥳
What ? The city has around 2.3 million with an addition 5 million in the surrounding areas (Houston metro)
@@marcusv9691 It 's calm because it is nothing like dense urban cities since it's sprawl for the most part.
The reason it looks calm is because there is a large underground tunnel network filled with all kinds of shops and amenity stores and even full scale restaurants. It was originally meant to keep everyone out of the Houston heat during summer. But now it diverts some of the foot traffic below street level.
That’s awesome, I wish with the day to visit Houston

Houston is beautiful!😍
I’m fascinated at how many people enjoy watching your drive through my hometown. Who knew?
I'm from the UK but lived in Houston as a young kid. I remember two places... Astro-World and Pipe Organ Pizza.
How the hell can you live in a singer???? You dont make any sense?
Richard he is referring to the amusement park Astro World which was very popular years ago in Houston
There aren't any motorcycles in the downtown to scare me like in bkk,th.The metro trains follows the traffic rules as vehicles. The systematic of direction of traffic can be seen. The smoke in the air seems to be zero. This seems to be impossible metropolitan.I wish i can be there again.

If you’re gonna come come during the late fall/winter. It’s super hot and humid in the summers and so it’ll be nice to come when it’s in the 60s/70s degree range. Check out downtown but also rice village is pretty cool

Nothing in downtown

Most of downtown is just office space which kinda sucks because a lot of it is empty but there’s some pretty good restaurants and places to visit

Hi greetings from Ireland,i lived in Houston in the 70's ,worked in the ship channel Olin Chemicals, walking to my car one day and there was a huge rig in the car park,it had glass sliding doors so i went up the steps and inside ,there i was greeted by a guy in a Tux and all along the walls were many guns on display in glass cases, turns out our company Olin Chemical were part of a group that included Winchester rifles ,a lot of the guys at work had gun racks on the back windows of their pick ups ,it was quite a culture shock for a kid from Ireland, also the humidity was unreal like working in a steam room, now i'm 71 looking back it all seems like a dream, lovely people btw, with one of the best sense of humor I've come across
Great story! Love it!
Your videos are making me quite calm. Thank you very much, Sir

Houston is a very clean city
Yes but when u go to tthe east side is not clean
Houston actually reminds me of a very humid no water having Toronto. Way more calm than other cities still diverse lots of opportunities.
Houston have plenty of water bc it rains almost every week. It is Very humid tho
It has almost the same population and Houston is a bayou city

Thanks for the ride! I had no idea Houston was such a beautiful city. Really enjoyed this video!
And, that’s just Downtown.. Most of the beautiful hubs with vibrant life are outside of DT.
Hello Anna how are you doing today.
Beautiful city Houston.
It looks so clean there
Yes much cleaner n scenic than past yrs
Still more work to be done but big improvement than past years.
Great video!
From all the southern cities I have visited so far , Houston ( very friendly and diverse) and Tallahassee (not as friendly in some areas) are the ones I like. Traffic is calm and easy to drive for a foreigner.
3rd place would be Greensboro NC and surrounding towns.
Last place of all cities? NY...sorry , but people is hateful and too crowded and everyone seems like is being chased down by someone. I love chilled out cities.
I don’t like NY much either. Born and raised here.
I guess because they tried to mind their own business in nyc. As long you dont get in their way, your ok. If you do, you get yelled at. But i dont think its all bad. They said its the best city in usa. So idk.
So calm and quiet
Been there 7 yrs ago 😍😍really loved it
Very nice AND modern city.... thanks!🇦🇷
Another fantastic video. I love Houston. 👍👍👍
I live in Houston and if you Europeans think your traffic is bad then you haven't seen anything yet because this was not filmed during rush hour.
Traffic here isn't that bad. All cities have a rush hour. Compare Houston to Austin. It's a mess over there.
I haven't seen Austin during rush hour so I cannot compare but I will take your word for it.
@@samuelmacdonough8746 Oh yeah Austin traffic is a nightmare. When I`ve been there traffic was a mess but it wasnt even rush hour!
I`ve been to houston only on my trip back to Europe and it was Rush hour, its not worse than in Europe actually. It`s getting worse every where. Where have you been in Europe?
I live in China and if Americans think they live in a city with bad traffic then you haven't seen anything yet. There have been times where people had to abandon cars and seek water because they had been in traffic so long.
All of you guys obviously have never travelled to India😅.
I bet you guys will be exasperated within half an hour driving there.

They should based the next GTA game around Houston... and have the main protagonist be a Southern ex army 22 year old who had to drop out of the army to care for his sick mother. He's become a pizza delivery guy and other odd jobs to pay for his mother's medical bills but finds himself entering a life a crime to earn enough money to fully care for her.
Maybe also include Austin and Laredo? : )
It's gonna be back in Vice City (Miami).

Houston has underground malls too

We moved to Houston from a shithole area in Missouri and love Houston! Love San Antonio and El Paso as well but Houston is the best largest city in America! Believe it or not but TX is the most diverse state in the country and Houston ranks most diverse city in the country after people started moving here including us after 2016 election of trump! Love, happiness, enjoyment, fast moving and beautiful city! Lets go Millennials lets change the State of TX being the best by being Progressive! Lets keep diversity moving to Houston!
Houston is diverse, but it's moving toward less and less diversity. The majority of the population is Hispanic. The real power in the city is still in the hands of the white minority. Eventually, Houston will be like San Antonio, about 2/3 Hispanic. The culture I saw in Houston when I moved there is pretty much gone. That was a long time ago, for sure, and things change. The western part of the city is diverse, for sure, and will likely remain so. But it's a lot more expensive to live there. Living downtown is really expensive rent-wise.
I remember jean michel jarre 1986 in houston rendez vous houston concert greetings from Rotterdam Holland rudolf Wilhelm ❤✌️✌️👍👍👍

@@lifeofmisschar long story but Iive in the mountains of southern Spain, beautiful views, no neighbors, no humidity or threat of tropical depressions or hurricanes and charming little villages tucked in the mountains hence I do not miss Houston. I love Houston
Forget Munich it is on small village in the world, sorry
I love Houston.
Love Houston!
Although this was filmed last year, it feels like it's during the Covid-time. Empty streets. It's a coincidence to be watching this now.
bc a lot of people walk through the tunnels underground instead of in the heat
Hello Elida how are you doing today.
Omg first couple minutes is a challange for my patience😅 I've never been in that so many trafic light😅😅
Now I can do this
These ppl that say Houston is boring must be under 50 yrs old n need constant excitement in there life n not settled yet
Let me quickly state, there are 6 miles of tunnels under Downtown Houston that connects 55 major buildings. In those there are shops, restaurants, dry cleaners, barbershop, etc. One can visit a building 10 blocks away and never step outside once. This affects Houston's surface foot traffic. Trust me there thousands of people in Downtown Houston.
Thats why this city sucks. Because there is no life on ground. Meanwhile, Madrid and Barcelona has almost the same climate as Houston and there is still life in those cities, why? Because not everything is underground sucking out the life of the actual city. But on the surface which is what a city is supposed to be
And I assume what you mean by thousands of people being in downtown means that they are below the actual city. But just because they are all underground does not mean that they are in downtown but instead a fucking mall. And malls take away the life of the city centre. This is why Houston is one of the most lifeless cities in North America. All because of the shitty underground system, while the rest is suburban. Basically a failed city
@@nobrang5146 dude all sun belt cities are like that. But they are NOT lifeless!!
@@nobrang5146 Get out of the last millennium and join us this one. This ain't the time between the 11th and 20th centuries.
@@nobrang5146clearly you’ve never stepped foot in Texas let alone Houston and felt tht Texas heat which is very severe and has caused several deaths due to heatstrokes But I guarantee if you were to come to Houston and get a feel for yourself and you’ll then understand why everyone is underground As the old saying goes dnt knock it until you’ve actually experienced it yourself😎🤷🏿♂️👀

I’ll be mad AF in Houston with all those red lights every block
@corvair67 nah not like Houston tho! Everytime I'm in downtown I notice the lights are not in sync
That’s only in the downtown area where this guy is driving around in. Once you step outside the downtown area “grid” traffic lights are further apart
You’ll get some days with a long stretch of green lights even though it’s rare lol
Thanks a lot !!!
