  • Thursday afternoon drive around downtown Houston Texas, the 4th largest city in the US. Video focuses on the downtown area of the city and passes by a number of popular attractions and points of interest. Enjoy! Tag your favorite spots in the comments below!
    Houston is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas, fourth most populous city in the United States, as well as the sixth most populous in North America, with an estimated 2018 population of 2.3 million residents. Houston is the principal city of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, which is the fifth most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States and the second most populous in Texas after the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with a population of 7 million in 2018.
    Comprising a total area of 637.4 square miles (1,651 km2), Houston is the eighth most expansive city in the United States (including consolidated city-counties). It is the largest city in the United States by total area, whose government is similarly not consolidated with that of a county or borough.
    The arrival of the 20th century saw a convergence of economic factors which fueled rapid growth in Houston, including a burgeoning port and railroad industry, the decline of Galveston as Texas' primary port following a 1900 hurricane, the subsequent construction of the Houston Ship Channel, and the Texas oil boom. In the mid-20th century, Houston's economy diversified as it became home to the Texas Medical Center-the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions-and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.
    Houston's economy since the late-20th century has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. Leading in healthcare sectors and building oilfield equipment, Houston has the second most Fortune 500 headquarters of any U.S. municipality within its city limits (after New York City). The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled. Nicknamed the "Space City" and "H-Town", Houston has become a global city, with strengths in culture, medicine, and research. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. Houston is the most diverse metropolitan area in Texas and has been described as the most racially and ethnically diverse major metropolis in the U.S. It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.

    The reason it looks calm is because there is a large underground tunnel network filled with all kinds of shops and amenity stores and even full scale restaurants. It was originally meant to keep everyone out of the Houston heat during summer. But now it diverts some of the foot traffic below street level.

He's become a pizza delivery guy and other odd jobs to pay for his mother's medical bills but finds himself entering a life a crime to earn enough money to fully care for her.

    We moved to Houston from a shithole area in Missouri and love Houston! Love San Antonio and El Paso as well but Houston is the best largest city in America! Believe it or not but TX is the most diverse state in the country and Houston ranks most diverse city in the country after people started moving here including us after 2016 election of trump! Love, happiness, enjoyment, fast moving and beautiful city! Lets go Millennials lets change the State of TX being the best by being Progressive! Lets keep diversity moving to Houston!

      Houston is diverse, but it's moving toward less and less diversity. The majority of the population is Hispanic. The real power in the city is still in the hands of the white minority. Eventually, Houston will be like San Antonio, about 2/3 Hispanic. The culture I saw in Houston when I moved there is pretty much gone. That was a long time ago, for sure, and things change. The western part of the city is diverse, for sure, and will likely remain so. But it's a lot more expensive to live there. Living downtown is really expensive rent-wise.

    These ppl that say Houston is boring must be under 50 yrs old n need constant excitement in there life n not settled yet

  • @Harold81
    @Harold81 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Let me quickly state, there are 6 miles of tunnels under Downtown Houston that connects 55 major buildings. In those there are shops, restaurants, dry cleaners, barbershop, etc. One can visit a building 10 blocks away and never step outside once. This affects Houston's surface foot traffic. Trust me there thousands of people in Downtown Houston.

    • @nobrang5146
      @nobrang5146 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats why this city sucks. Because there is no life on ground. Meanwhile, Madrid and Barcelona has almost the same climate as Houston and there is still life in those cities, why? Because not everything is underground sucking out the life of the actual city. But on the surface which is what a city is supposed to be

    • @nobrang5146
      @nobrang5146 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And I assume what you mean by thousands of people being in downtown means that they are below the actual city. But just because they are all underground does not mean that they are in downtown but instead a fucking mall. And malls take away the life of the city centre. This is why Houston is one of the most lifeless cities in North America. All because of the shitty underground system, while the rest is suburban. Basically a failed city
