- From earlier this summer, a weekday drive around downtown Chicago at sunset. What's your favorite Chicago street?
Chicago is the 2nd most visited city in the US, with 58 million domestic and international visitors in 2018, behind New York City's approximate 65 million visitors. Downtown is Actually Very congested compared to other cities except East Coast cities. Chicago is like Out of Orbit in the Midwest.
@Waziha Bushra New York is amazing to visit, great architecture, history etc.... etc...but downtown Chicago is the best in North America, big but not too big, clean, elegant not chaotic like New York and it's right on Lake Michigan.
I must admit I was amazed as to how beautiful Chicago is when I went. And the train system is way cleaner than NYC

tre luglio I lived in Chicago for 2 years, the murders you constantly hear about on the news are concentrated in the Southside only, which no normal person would go to unless you live there or are looking for trouble. I have never once felt unsafe in my entire time being in Chicago.

I've been to Chicago twice and I can say with confidence that during the morning and afternoon that those streets are absolutely packed.

Never realized Chicago was such a huge and beautiful city. The other thing I noticed is that most of the traffic lights are synchronized which keeps the traffic flowing smoothly. Also wide streets and beautiful street lights for the pedestrians.
The streets also a grid system. So it's not that confusing like some other cites are.

chicago is absolutely massive. go on google earth and zoom in on chicago til each block takes up about 3 - 4 inches on your screen. then, just start moving west without zooming out until you start to see rural areas. you're gonna be there a while lol

Honestly the most beautiful city in America. I am from California and lived in NYC and Chicago is unbeatable. Always stuff to do, and walking up to the skyline leaves me speechless every time. A must must visit!

I was born and raised in Chicago. And I can say that Chicago's downtown skyline is really beautiful. Whenever I drive on the freeway from the northside or southside toward downtown I'm thinking "Wow! That's beautiful" especially during dawn or dusk.

I visited Chicago for the first time this year. Chicago has to be the most beautiful and clean city in America. I was so shocked.

I always tought that NYC was the most beautiful "glass and concrete" city of USA, until I saw Chicago.

Chicago really is the best city in the world that is why me and my family chose it over all the rest and we love it even more now than then
I visited Chicago from Belgium in the summer of 2010 and was only there for three days, but three days of magic it was. I have some great (but also bittersweet) memories of Chicago, it feels like a dream. Love the spaciousness of Chicago with its wide lanes; it doesn’t have that big city claustrophobia. The hotel I stayed in was on Ontario street if I remember correctly. There was this excellent bagel breakfast place across the hotel. I still recognize some of the roads and surroundings in this video.

I lived here for 6 months while I was attending art school. I had to move out due to lack of financial aid. I miss the city every day. It feels like home to me even though I was there for a brief period.
I was born there an I was at home, I'm n Georgia now and been there for 20 + years and I still don't feel like home. I'm actually home sick if u ask me. I hope the crime get much better and I will be going back to stay .

I was here for the first time a couple months ago driving along the lake. I have been to NYC multiple times and didn't expect much from Chicago but I liked it a lot more. Lake Michigan was clear and blue compared to NYs Hudson River and it looked actually pleasant to swim in. Also downtown was much more clean than NYC

I've been to Chicago once 5 years ago and the city is beautiful and it's huge. I walked from the United Center to the Target downtown and that was a hike.

NYC is the greatest, and the only reason you say it’s overrated is because you can’t afford to live in the luxury of Manhattan, New York City. Also, for any businesses that are moving out of NYC, they are moving to Miami much much more than Chicago, and Chicago already hosts the second-highest property taxes in the US, but rates could surge even higher which is raising uncertainty among business owners moving to Chicago. Also, being founded by a black man does not matter whatsoever. Furthermore, I don’t know how you can even speak about Chicago with such confidence in these current times, especially by comparing it to the actual boss of cities, NYC, when Chicago has a reputation as one of America’s most violent cities, and in 2016 Chicago was charged with 762 murders, 3,550 shooting incidents and 4,331 shooting victims. On average, 12 people are shot in Chicago every single day and it experienced more murders than New York and Los Angeles combined. This problem is not getting any better and is ranked one of America’s most dangerous cities. You should think more before making such a comment and comparison.

We know who won already but the fact that Chicago will always be called Second City is a reference to it's ever continuous competition with NYC even if it's long gone.
Absolutely STUNNING.......Chicago's skyline sets the standard for all other cities to follow....I live in Atlanta and Atlanta's skyline is ok, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO where near the sheer size of Chicago.....

Downtown Chicago is very clean!
The first time I went to Chicago was in the summer of 1986 and I wasn't impressed at all. I went back for the first time for business in 2009 and immediately fell in love with the Windy City. Since then, I have the pleasure of going back well over 100 times and look forward to spending time there every chance I get. I even became a Cubs fan! I have my favorite hotels, restaurants, and running route. Thank you for this great video!

Missing Chicago. We have lived there for 5 years in Gold coast and Lakeview, and left in 2021. Enjoyed walking, biking, and taking public transport, we rarely rent a car. We're just a few minutes walk from Michigan. Feels good to walk along Dearborn, State and Michigan Ave, and the lake! People are nice and cheerful. I wish to visit this wonderful place again. So many memories ♥️

when I had visited Chicago, I could not believe how clean the downtown streets were. The city reminds me so much of my hometown--Toronto, Ontario. It is similar in many ways.

Toronto and Chicago could be sister cities- they have the same size populations and a lot of the same feel. But we Chicagoans, though we love our city, are very envious of Toronto's low crime rates and we want to know how you all do it. Then again, that's just the difference between Canada and the United States- Canada is such a nice, calm, non-violent place while the U.S. too often seems like a coast-to-coast meth lab.

My pops was from Chi-Town. He'd always fly me and my brother out there during the summer for a few weeks, so they can take a break. I remember airport staff treating us young kids like royalty on connecting flights. Aunt and Uncles would be delighted to take us in for a few days. We hit up the museums constantly. My favorite was obviously the Museum of Science and Industry. Amazing city. Don't let the crime stats ruin your anticipation.
No matter which expressway you use, you get beautiful views of the skyline. I live in the Quad Cities which is three hours west of Chicago and I love coming to the city. Moving there March 2021!

Never knew how big Chicago was until I started watching this beautiful video! I mean the downtown area alone is bloody huge!, and that's not incorporating the rest of the city-e.g. the suburbs and the greater Metropolitan Area etc.
I love Chicago every time I visit definitely at least a top 3 city in USA in my opinion
I lived in Chicago for 10 years and came back home 10 years ago. This just brought back so much memory and reminded me how beautiful Downtown Chicago was and still is. But of course you'd only want to go there in the summer...

I love how everything in this wonderful city is very huge and spacious, in contrast to Hong Kong, where everything is literally cramped together.

BIG.MONEY.MONTANA it definitely is. I’ve been to New York and it’s great. But the Chicago traffic isn’t as bad. Plus the food and rent is a lot cheaper
@@dragac90 One of the major things about Chicago is that you don't need a car, the train system is really good. If your going to live downtown, don't own a car.
I was there about a year ago. Chicago was my last stop in USA after 2,5 months of travelling around having an absolutely awesome experience! I love that place and really miss that place and I want to go back❤

It used to be busier. Lots of people have left. I lived there decades ago and when I went to visit in 2017, I notice a lot fewer people.

I watched the whole thing! It was a lot of fun. I've lived in the area my whole life but don't drive downtown too much anymore, so when I do I'm kind of hyper-vigilant behind the wheel and I don't get to gawk like I'd like. Thanks for letting me sit in the front seat and take in the scenery without worrying about traffic! As soon as the video started and you turned south onto Lake Shore Drive, I could tell from the clear sky exactly the kind of cool, pleasant summer evening it was - it was like I could feel the air. Very evocative.
Yes and there's something about the sky that's so different an calming to look at.
Brit here who visited for a week in 2006 and loved it. I stayed with a friend who worked at UC Theology faculty at the time (South Woodlawn Avenue).
Some random visits/memories I enjoyed:
- Top of the Hancock Tower for breathtaking views
- Field Museum
- Shed Aquarium
- Cloud Gate (bean) and the surrounding park
- Open top bus tour around downtown
- A walk along the Magnificent Mile
- A couple of visits to "The Pub" on UC Campus
- A drive around areas of the South Side
- Visited the spot where the first artificial nuclear reaction took place and Henry Moore's nuclear energy sculpture
- A drive around some areas of the North Shore including Skokie
- Enjoying some nightlife somewhere on the North Shore (can't remember exactly where but I loved it)
- A curry at Sabri Nehari
- A visit to Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
I want to go back!
