Have you missed creating art in your sketchbook? Let's get back into a creative habit together! I start by drawing from vintage reference photos, then head to the park for some inspiration, the library for some art books, and an art supply store for new materials to experiment with. I get lots of ideas drawing various items like flowers, old books, a banjo, and vintage bottles. I'll share my drawing/painting process along with my thoughts behind each sketchbook page.
I’m also doing an art supply haul with my purchases from the art supply store Blick, including paper (watercolor and printmaking), sticky notes in the shape of cats, and a giant crayon. Then I test out and experiment with the new art supplies!
Draw with me as I create mixed media artworks in my sketchbook using watercolor, gouache, pen & ink, brush pen, fountain/dip pen, crayons, caran d'ache, and colored pencils.
The art books I got from the library for inspiration are: For Historic Buildings, Fabrics by Jane C. Nylander, Modigliani (The Taste of Our Time) by Claude Roy, and The World of Matisse 1869-1954 by John Russell. And earlier in the video, I use Better Home & Gardens Flower Arranging : For Everyday as inspiration for a flower still life painting.

This made me laugh -- I love it. I'm 75 and, when my husband and I recently moved to a retirement community, I threw away all of my bottles of various seasonings that had been in my cupboard for "a while." Looks like you found them!

you draw inspiration from some of the most interesting things. i am glad you were able to save the bottles from being destroyed before you could draw them. this is already a great sketchbook. love watching you draw and paint

I am in LOVE with your sketches especially the vintage sauce bottles. I too am peculiarly inspired by food packaging, so much so that I have a collection of bottles, cans and packaging labels stored in a plastic container under my bed as part of my still life ephemera to use a references. I am particularly attached to the labels and shapes of old olive jars. I look forward to watching more of your content 🥰!

Such neautiful drawings!! And those old bottles can be fun. They have such neat shapes and interesting labels.. Often there are old bottles at antique shops too because others like them too! Just walking around my city I find so many interesting things to draw. And I never would have thought of that giant crayon! Trying to draw different textures is both a challenge and interesting. Recently I've drawn my yoga mat and different types of rocks ( including a brick wall). I really enjoyed watching this.
