I first fell in love with choirs in the video game Halo, when I heard Eric Whitacre Lux Aurumque it reminded me of that first moment. This version is my favorite right now :).

I love this version so much, it's the one I performed in high school. Beautiful sound, but as someone with perfect pitch, it hurt my heart to hear their tonality slide down half a step over the course of the performance. Still an absolutely gorgeous arrangement well executed!

The Watermelon At some point, you’re gonna realize how minute it is to complain about dropping pitch in an a cappella performance. Happens all the time in barbershop performances. As a guy with perfect pitch also, if the singing quality itself doesn’t suffer, who cares?

This is well known to happen. Any good composer can write around it, this guy is kind of mediocre.
Interesting variation/addition from 03:18 till 04:18. Have not heard that elsewhere. Makes it longer, which is a good thing as I wish it was a longer track.

This is actually Lux Nova if I'm correct
It's the Theme of 'Bliss' from his musical "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings". He wrote it for the musical in 2001 or 2002 then wrote it into the Wind Orchestra version of Lux Aurumque in 2005, then worked it into his new edition of the choral version only very recently (last year?).

Une véritable merveille et bien sûr cette version chorale n'a rien à voir avec la version pour orchestre d'harmonie que j'ai eu l'occasion de jouer il y a quelques années. Cette dernière restait quand même une bonne approche de l'oeuvre en restituant assez fidèlement son climat

WHy would he present it as Lux Aurumque? I didn't understand that.. And yes, I always felt that version was underwhelming in the middle section, it's fairly better like this

Inserted part doesn't sound as same leveled music as the rest of composition originally scored. Harmonies in added part of primary composition are a bit too sweet and kitchy in my opinion and first, original version did not need any aesthetical decline in favour of wider audience or "better" reception.

The original is better in my opinion, this one's chord progression in the chorus is a bit boring, amazingly arranged yes but a bit boring
