    The diversity of civilizations in AOE 4 is really coming along nicely. As soon as you mentioned the defensive fortresses, I knew immediately that walls would have less of a focus for them. Concentrated city defenses instead of a border defense changes how you structure your city and expand. Super exciting. It seems the developers have really thought the civs through. Shame about the HUD and lack of minimap options.

There would be nice campaigns possibilities Turks vs Austria(Hungary) ended with battle of Vienna, Rus-Sweden alliance against Poland and Moscow ocupation 1610. During the Dev match, they talk about how not only is the fortified palisade stronger (3k HP vs 1.5k HP), but are also cheaper than the standard palisades. While I guess not confirmed, it wouldn't make sense for them to have a more expensive, worse wall available.
    Correction: I went back to check the video, and they don't say what they thought they said: They stated that it builds faster than the normal wall, not that it was cheaper, and that wall being referred to was ambiguous, but probably the stone wall. I'm concerned a bit about a Rus player's ability to hit their max bounty. The player in the showcase match went pretty heavy on the scouts and he only managed to get around 415 bounty i think. By that point all animals were gone from the map, so he couldn't possibly get the final tier

      There were still boars around, but he didn't have enough map control to get them. In this sense, that's a method of counterplay for the other players against the rus' bounty.
      The wolf gave more bounty than the deer, and I suppose the boars are the ones who give the most bounty, which means he could reach his 500 bounty, if he had the map control for it, or if he launched a sneaky operation to kill them and (maybe) harvest their food.

    Man, why does every civ get such strong landmarks. Now as a Chinese fan I feel ripped off! I do like that I get access to every landmark, but it feels as if their impact is not on the landmark, but on the dynasty they unlock. And I mean, the dynasty system is pretty cool, but 6 landmarks occupy a lot of f-ing space for a bonus that's not better than a single landmark of any one other civ.

      I mean if you dig deep into it it actually make sense. Lets say the Rus save stone for their important structure like castle, church, palace. They use wooden wall because of its abundant and it really doesnt make sense to pour huge amount of stone to wall off such a humongous country.

    • @valkam9325
      @valkam9325 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Early Rus relied heavily on wooden structures. The ability for early Slavs to expand was due to an abundance of trees that enabled them to quickly build villages and towns without worrying of running out of the resource. Which if going back to aoe 2, it would make sense for the Slavs to have a wood bonus of some kind.

    • @sebastiaanhageman1040
      @sebastiaanhageman1040 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Golden gate is based around the golden gate in kiev. The gate is still there but the walls are long gone. It was used at some point as a trade center. It is acually quite common in europe to have city walls that have been taken down but still have gates/towers remain that serve another purpose like being a tradecenter or military baracks.
      The golden camel is a cosmetic item you can get whe you pre-order the game. It replaces the bell/gong in your towncenter. All the official gameplay videos have them, but you can just turn them on/off in game if you have them.
