Just leased a new 2024 Acura ZDX. This is my first acura and first electric car. I think they did a great job compared to the overly popular Tesla that looks more like a chevy inside.
Picked up one with AWD for $29,000 discount and they paid off my old lease from Mazda CX-90 PHEV which has been a nightmare 😅so happy with the deal and the amazing experience and quality
I really, really like the styling of the new ZDX. It looks great with this beautiful blue paint, black roof, and silver lower-cladding. The interior is very appealing as well. The fact that Honda has partnered with GM says a lot about GM's improved quality. I have owned a couple of (new) GM lemons in the past, and even I would forgive the General nowadays. Maybe it's just because we're entering the holiday season?
Hey Tom, I’m an avid fan of ALL your content and must comment that I simply cannot understand why you don’t have more followers? Is Google screwing with he algorithm? You are head and tails above so many others from the video, pictures and of course the in-depth reviews. You truly deserve 1M followers and i hope you get there my friend.
The Ultium platform is stellar. I don't think people complaining about "GM content" are very well informed. Would have been interesting to hear you compare the ZDX and the Lyriq. The suspension seems like a big differentiator.
I'm extremely disappointed to see Acura dropping the ELS audio system throughout the fleet. Casually including an exclusive, understated, and class-leading audio system for over 20 years gave the brand a reputation for going the extra mile in the places that most companies ignore. I'm sure the new system is fine, but no one will be raiding junk yards for these speakers in 15 years.
Yes! Love when people address that you might be able to get away with 120 charging. A bunch of people fit in this demographic and I don't think it's publicized enough. Been doing it for 3 years, no problem.
Acura always with good elegant emblematic design. Buy in entertainment and full of comfort Jeep Grand Wagoneer for me is the winner I love the screen in the front passenger side.
I really like the bright colors offered on the ZDX. I also like the silver lower panels, much better than basic old black. The lease offers on these I don't think are too bad right now.
it looks very station-wagon-y but in a good way I think. It's very handsome, but rather low slung. I don't know how they'll do with this but it's nice looking. I wonder if there has ever been a study to decide exactly how high the hip point needs to be for the general public to call it an SUV.
Another wonderful review, Tom. I have to say, I am not sure about the Honda/GM/Acura partnership. I think Honda and Acura lost their souls when you drive these vehicles. They feel GM, which of course they're halfway that. My neighbor has a Prologue and I just don't see the Honda brand in that car other than the H on the front of the nose.
I noticed that Cadillac has unique switch-gear for the Lyriq but this gets the same switch-gear as the Chevy products. I think this makes the ZDX seem a little less premium although I do prefer the standard steering wheel controls over the fancy Cadillac controls.
Curious thing - ALL the Acura ZDX’s, RWD or AWD, A-spec or TypeS get the 12 module 102 kWh pack. Go to Honda Prolog, and it’s all 10 module 85 kWh packs. Blazer EV: RS RWD and SS AWD ONLY get the larger 12 module 102 kWh pack. All other versions of Blazer EV get the smaller 10 module 85 kWh pack. Advantage Acura. And Acura A-spec ranges match Lyriq almost exactly, 313 miles RWD, 304miles AWD.
Hey Tom, when you do get your hands on a Blazer, maybe an interesting short video would be a simple explainer on the difference to average consumers among Equinox and Blazer. As much as I like to think I know cars, those two make my head spin!
For starters, Blazer has single-motor FWD and RWD options as well as dual motor AWD. Equinox is just front or AWD. Blazer can be much more powerful and can DC fast charge at 190-kW vs Equinox at 150-kW peak. Both use the same 85-kWh pack. Equinox is more of a practical machine vs the bigger Blazer that gets 5 inches added to the wheelbase and a more flamboyant design.
6:53 Does it always make that noise when it comes to a stop? I know it's just for pedestrain safety. But it sounds just like the noise you hear on Family Matters when anything significant happened. Old school reference I know lol.
The Lyriq and Electrified Gv70 are direct rivals, the Lexus RZ lags behind in the same category. The actual price favors the Acura for the moment, especially the lease which eliminates some key uncertainties and the subscription issue.
Interesting vehicle. Way expensive but for the moment most EVs are. A driven comparison with the Lyric would be interesting. If I purchased one I would get a dark color and my first upgrade if I owned one would be blacking out that very weird silver strake, which is a very unfortunate design choice by Acura and maybe a deal killer in any event IMHO.
Test drove an Ioniq 5 yesterday with heads up display and found it was something I really liked. Seems like a feature you should mention if a car has or does not have. Currently waiting to see when the 2025 Ioniq 5 becomes available.
been wondering, for testing, do you always charge EV's to 100%? when you did a road trip to eastern Washington, curious if you charged up to 100 at your stops? Might be an interesting mention on your car reviews. I've rarely charged my ID.4 above 80%, not sure if the alarm about going to 100% is still a thing, or is data changing on battery life and performance.
Yes, I charge to 100% on my range tests. On the Ariya trip I ended up charging to 95% the first time in Wenatchee (only because I was eating lunch and I could see that no one needed the charger). I really only needed to charge to 80%. The second time (at the campsite) I charged to the full 100% to put my wife at ease (and it was free so why not?). We easily made it back to Seattle. Personally, from what I've read and the engineers I've talked to, I feel the "only charge to 80%" is a bit overblown. I wouldn't hesitate to do 100% on road trips if I had the time and no one was waiting for the plug. Doing it a dozen times a year shouldn't effect the pack over the lifetime. On a day to day basis I would probably only juice to 80% with my own EV.
What’s with this trend of adding buttresses between the radio and the armrests? The Sienna has it, the upper levels of the Pacifica has it, and now the ZDX. It’s not like there’s a transmission tunnel going down the center, and the storage space below the buttress is hard to access. The wife needs a place to put her purse that’s not the passenger’s lap.
I agree. My partner's Palisade has one and we never use it since it's so hard to reach down and grab anything from there, and too small to be useful for most things. The funny part is there's a USB port down there too that we never use because exiting the vehicle and reachinh is the easiest way to plug things in. I think the idea of these spaces is for someone to store a purse or small bag somewhat out of site? Idk
Between the Blazer EV and the Prologue I much prefer the styling of the Prologue, but in this case I much prefer the styling inside and out of the Cadillac over the Acura. I wonder if this was designed by an Japanese designer or American. If it was a Japanese designer I wonder if they know what an American hearse looks like.
When ice cars first hit the market in the early 1900’s, only the wealthy could afford them. But that finally broke when Ford employed assembly-line efficiency (with abusive labor practices), and along with Rockefeller, drove horses and buggies and early EV’s out of the market. Game changing technology usually costs more. But prices will come down as wealthier buyers continue to purchase.
@@brotherdaveseattle2791says an old dwarf from Seattle 😅😅 dude have you been living under a rock?! Nobody respects or cares about the American crappy car industry anymore
Not enough Honda DNA because they are so late to the EV party its embarrassing. Must sting to realize that GM is miles down the road in EV deployment. Lastly, Honda went looking for the best EV skateboard to install it "tophat" body and chose GM. They weren't worried about GMs DNA, and that says volumes more than your opinion.

Btw, I have had it for 2 weeks and loving it. I only got the 2WD A Spec, plenty fast for me.

I hear they sell it in Italy as the Ziti X. 😊
And... rimshot!

This looks slightly better than the Lyric. The rear design of the Lyric is over the top, imho.

How long does the air suspension last? In Landrovers, pretty much all of them needs to be replaced in 8-10 years or 100k miles & costs $20k!!!

Interesting looker, not bad for an EV.
Nice herse.
Looks good. However, it's always annoying when you have to get the lower range version to get all the features.
Great video as usual...great looking vehicle, albeit pricey. Thanks for muting 'Hey Google'....😅
My last will and testament says my body will be transported to the cemetery in a ZDX.

I came close to leasing but ultimately passed on the Ultium powered Prologue. The ZDX being double the price is a hard nope.

Wasn't the Acura Legend/Sterling their first "wedding"?
Yeah, by 8 or 9 years if I remember right. I wasn't really gauging which was first, just that it has teamed up before. But good catch!
Hate that chrome piece. I'm glad Rivian has gotten rid of that design element.
90K in Canada and no grey color available. If you want a darker color its black only.
