Yes, Sally Dworsky with her beautiful voice who sang for Moira Kelly in THE LION KING dubs Sandra Bullock's singing voice as Miriam for this film. But what I really like is the fact that Michelle Pfeiffer who plays Tzipporah actuallu does her OWN singing! Yes we all know that Michelle is a top notch actress but not a lot of people know that she truly can sing and sing beautifully. She also did her own singing in GREASE 2, THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS and HAIRSPRAY.

I really think Michelle Pfeiffer should record an album all her own even if it's all cover songs and remakes and not just do soundtrack vocals. It would be a real treat to hear her lovely voice for a CD entirely her own. I think Sally has done some albums of her own(I believe she's a folk singer) But it's high time Michelle got in the game too. I think you'd agree with me.
Chris Mulwee I agree but she's never going to do it hahaha. She thinks of herself as an actress who can kind of sing. She says she can only sing well for movies only after she gets retrained, especially after not doing it for a long time. And she would never do concerts or anything. She doesn't have Gwyneth Paltrow's ego, who thought she could sing after her song w Cee Lo but then did an awful job singing live. Especially when Celine Dion sang after her. Doesn't matter to me that it was Whitney Houston's and Mariah Carey's cover version done for the end credits that got nominated for Academy Awards and or maybe a Grammy for best original song. For me this version is the real deal, as Michelle and Sally can really harmonize beautifully and how very similar their singing voices are. In my opinion this is Pfeiffer's and Dworsky's song all the way, as they were the original performers of this tune.
Wrong. WH & MC version has Babyface additional music & lyrics. The one nominated was WITHOUT and Babyface did NOT get the nomination & Oscar because the additions Babyface added to the song were not featured in the actual film version. The winning song is the film version performed by Michelle Pfeiffer & Sally Dworsky, not the outsing-each-other messy pop version.
The Count admit it or not without MC and WH “outsinging” each other there was no way this song would win it in the Oscar over The Prayer by Dion and Boccelli 😂 the reason why it won at the Oscar was because the pop superstars sang the promotional version of the soundtrack
Houston Carey's version was not a cover, it was a radio version. And THIS version was the actual nominee (and eventual winner) of Best Orginal Score Oscar. This is a common practice for musical films, to submit the in-movie version and have the popular version performed at Academy Award ceremony. (for example 1996, it was Judy Kuhn's Color of the WInd who was submitted, but Vanessa Williams performed. an exception maybe A Whole New World was performed by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga because their version was just as popular).
You're more than welcome. If you want to hear more of Pfeiffer's beautiful voice, you can check out songs like COOL RIDER, GIRL FOR ALL SEASONS,HANDS OF TIME, WE'LL BE TOGETHER,, all from GREASE 2, or you can listen to her sing "I'll Be Surprisingly Good For You" her demo recording for the movie version of "EVITA" as she was the original choice for that role before Madonna got the part. And you can watch the 1st episode of MUPPETS TONIGHT as she sings a SOUND OF MUSIC medley for the finale
Absolutely agree with Gregg. I fell in love with Michelle's version. Not so much with Whitney's version. I play this a lot. I know the words and sing along harmony with it. Such a great song.
God has spoken again. If you could honestly recognize the need for this-the need for this in your life, in your community, in your family, in your nation, between your nations-then you could see that a New Revelation is required and that you are actually living at a time of Revelation.
Reading the comments to this movie is always an adventure. Personally I do not believe in God, at least I don't think so. I used to be a huge believer some years ago and it's kind of hard to let that go if you've been really faithful, but I do not consider myself a christian anymore. However, I have always enjoyed this movie, it's one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. Do I believe it all happened? I used to. But because I don't believe anymore doesn't mean I go around telling people it didn't happen. If people want to believe in the bible, or science, or anything else, I respect it. Others should too. It's a beautiful movie for all audiences anyhow.

Omg who's the creator of this artwork?? (The drawing) it's beautiful!!! EDIT: Found it. Concept art by Paul Lasaine who worked for Dreamworks and on this movie.
I've been trying to find a video on youtube where the song doesn't get cut off at 4:56 or 4:58, where it actually ends off at a 'not awkward' spot. I see you're video was originally 5:12 long but it get's cut off at 4:46 is that just something youtube did to all videos for this song?
Matea Bff She’s sang quite a bit actually. Movie musicals. In Grease 2, the remake of Hairspray. There’s even demos of songs she’d recorded for other films she’s been in on here.
Why do y'all compare this to Mariah and Whitney's version???? Theirs were made for the end credits and promotions, this was made to be a scene in the movie! Lol
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 UHM NO. LOL. Cant you see, the intent of the movie version was made for the PLOT of the FILM. Adn the intent of MC and Nippy was to be rendered on charts. Although they had the same meaning, they had different purposes. Lol
@@francis3774 omg you're so dim!!! What does that have ANYTHING to do with comparing two songs that are two different versions? It's about comparing the compositions, the voices, the singing, etc, it's about the MUSIC A-LONE. Dude grow some brains!!! "Lol"!!
This is the Biblical poem Shirat Hayam שירת הים "Song of the Sea" from Exodus 15. They sing parts of verses 1,11,13: אָשִׁירָה לַה' כִּי-גָאֹה גָּאָה מִי כָמֹכָה בָּאֵלִם ה' מִי כָּמֹכָה נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ נָחִיתָ בְחַסְדְּךָ עַם-זוּ גָּאָלְתָּ ashira laadonay ki gao gaa mi chamocha baelim adonay mi kamocha needar bakodesh nakhita vekhasdecha am zu gaalta I will sing unto the LORD, for He is highly exalted Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the mighty? who is like unto Thee, glorious in holiness Thou in Thy love hast led the people that Thou hast redeemed source: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090321172037AAAr3zv
I remember singing this last year, but it was last year so it may be incorrect: Ashira ado nai, ki gah ah, mi hamoca biolim ado nai, mi hamoca nee dar bakodesh. Na hita ve cause a da, um zu galata! Ashira, ashira ashira! Im just saying how it sounded like. And what you said in english is what it means so your right.
Amen to that! This is the original and the best version. And yet it was the inferior pop version By Whitney and Mariah that got all the attention. I feel Michelle and Sally were robbed so to speak.
I disagree with your rating and have to wonder where such a strong opinionated charge comes from. I understand your personal preference and you have a right to it... it just opens the door for people to question the birth of such a strong (unfounded) comment. Compare the record sales, the version that was on the lips of the masses. I remember taking my daughter to the movie and as the song played (at the end)... people actually stopped leaving the theatre to listen to the complete Whitney/Mariah rendition, we actually sat back down and clapped at it's conclusion.
Mitchell Stephens Someone commented: The version is 10000 times better than the disgusting pop version Well this is how I put it, While I DO like Michelle's version better the Mariah/ Whitney "cover" is far from "disgusting". I'll listen to them both but mainly the Michelle/Sally "original" is the winner, mainly because of the neat-O Hebrew children's chorus in the bridging part of the song. It was replaced by a newly written bridge written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmunds, when the two pop/soul legends recorded the end credit version.
I like both versions, but this one is much more moving and pure, and I love the bit with the chldren. I have to say that I find all the runs and 'showboating' in the Mariah/Whitney version to be impressive, but distracting from the meaning of the song.
@@cmulwee001 … They had to do something to be able to sell the song since so few people wanted the film version. After all life is all about money! I think many people have (as I admit I do) a dislike for screaming kiddie songs.
The people comparing basically a Broadway version of this song with a pop power ballad is silly. It's really all about context. Different strokes for different folks. I personally don't remember this version. I prefer WH and MC, but i'm not going to diss this song.
Dondalea Stubbs Yes, it's her. She has a high range and a low range and for this she used her high. She was also much younger when she sang this so her voice hasn't deepened as much yet. Watch her demo "I'd be surprisingly good for you" from Evita or her songs from The Fabulous Baker Boys. She is an excellent singer
Oh wel,l original or not a totally overrated version in my opinion, but then I never like hearing kiddies sing. Which doesn't mean that other's can't enjoy it.
Does anyone else feel really bad for Egypt? God basically fucks them over by pulling on the Pharaoh's strings. Its clearly stated he makes his heart harden so he can demonstrate his own power. I'm personally glad I'm atheist and don't have things like that in my life
Michelle Pfeiffer is an amazing actress and singer.Spectacular
As much as I love the Mariah and Whitney version, I prefer this one. Always did. I remember being blown away by Michelle's voice.

Many nights we prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hope for a song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could, whoa, yes
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
Its hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe somehow you will
You will when you believe
Mmmyeah
In this time of fear
When prayer so often proves in vain
Hope seems like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I'm standing here
My hearts so full, I can't explain
Seeking faith and speakin' words
I never thought I'd say
There can be miracles
When you believe (when you believe)
Though hope is frail
Its hard to kill (mmm)
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve (You can achieve)
When you believe somehow you will
You will when you believe
They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your pain
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small but still, resilient voice
Says hope is very near, oh (oh)
There can be miracles (miracles)
When you believe (boy, when you believe, yeah) (though hope is frail)
Though hope is frail (it's hard)
Its hard to kill (hard to kill, oh, yeah)
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve (you can achieve, oh)
When you believe somehow you will (somehow, somehow, somehow)
Now you will (now I, now I, know)
You will when you believe (when you)
(Oh oh)
You will when you believe

Babyface got none because Babyface version was not featured in the actual film and does not deserve writing credits (See Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_You_Believe)
Omg who's the creator of this artwork?? (The drawing) it's beautiful!!!
EDIT: Found it. Concept art by Paul Lasaine who worked for Dreamworks and on this movie.
ARGH why does the sound suddenly cut off at the end ;A;
Litterally every version i come across does that and it cheases me😤
good song
Wish I knew the name of the little girl or boy that starts singing in Hebrew
i cant seem to find this version on spotify
It's there
The original version is the only one in my book. Never like the other pop version.
I've been trying to find a video on youtube where the song doesn't get cut off at 4:56 or 4:58, where it actually ends off at a 'not awkward' spot. I see you're video was originally 5:12 long but it get's cut off at 4:46 is that just something youtube did to all videos for this song?
Wait... MICHELLE PFEIFFER SINGS!?I thought she was just an actress.
Matea Bff She’s sang quite a bit actually. Movie musicals. In Grease 2, the remake of Hairspray. There’s even demos of songs she’d recorded for other films she’s been in on here.
Fabulous baker boys
murder on the orient express
And Prince of Egypt
It is. Surprising at first, but pretty cool.
Why do y'all compare this to Mariah and Whitney's version???? Theirs were made for the end credits and promotions, this was made to be a scene in the movie! Lol
So? It's still the same song, so we can still compare them.
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 UHM NO. LOL. Cant you see, the intent of the movie version was made for the PLOT of the FILM. Adn the intent of MC and Nippy was to be rendered on charts.
Although they had the same meaning, they had different purposes. Lol
@@francis3774 And yet, they're the same song. No convoluted excuse you come up with will ever change that fact.
And??? Dumb reason for not to comparing songs. Lol 💀
@@francis3774 omg you're so dim!!! What does that have ANYTHING to do with comparing two songs that are two different versions? It's about comparing the compositions, the voices, the singing, etc, it's about the MUSIC A-LONE. Dude grow some brains!!! "Lol"!!
can some one translate the hebrew part in English of this beatiful song?
This is the Biblical poem Shirat Hayam שירת הים "Song of the Sea" from Exodus 15.
They sing parts of verses 1,11,13:
אָשִׁירָה לַה' כִּי-גָאֹה גָּאָה
מִי כָמֹכָה בָּאֵלִם ה' מִי כָּמֹכָה נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ
נָחִיתָ בְחַסְדְּךָ עַם-זוּ גָּאָלְתָּ
ashira laadonay ki gao gaa
mi chamocha baelim adonay mi kamocha needar bakodesh
nakhita vekhasdecha am zu gaalta
I will sing unto the LORD, for He is highly exalted
Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the mighty? who is like unto Thee, glorious in holiness
Thou in Thy love hast led the people that Thou hast redeemed

I remember singing this last year, but it was last year so it may be incorrect: Ashira ado nai, ki gah ah, mi hamoca biolim ado nai, mi hamoca nee dar bakodesh. Na hita ve cause a da, um zu galata! Ashira, ashira ashira! Im just saying how it sounded like. And what you said in english is what it means so your right.
TiniestFletcher That's a real tongue-twister, but so beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you so much
no live performance by michelle eh?
Of course not, even if she sings beautifully here, she's NOT a singer and she doesn't want to be one.
That wallpaper is awesome, where di you get it from?

Where can I find this in spotify
Why i cannot find this version on spotify?
it's on spotify under the prince of egypt soundtrack i found both versions of the song there
Ten times better than Mariah and Whitney's version.
Solitude has gone
4:00 get my money!
👏🏻😢
The version is 10000 times better than the disgusting pop version
Mitchell Stephens Someone commented:

Well this is how I put it,
While I DO like Michelle's version better the Mariah/ Whitney "cover" is far from "disgusting".

This song would also be very much suited to Jewish exodus from Europe to Palestine in post WW2
The people comparing basically a Broadway version of this song with a pop power ballad is silly. It's really all about context. Different strokes for different folks. I personally don't remember this version. I prefer WH and MC, but i'm not going to diss this song.
Broadway? What? This song is from the actual movie. The Jews sing it as Moses leads them out of Egypt.
بلعشو بان برعزيدعنتع
that is sooooooooooooooo not michelle
Yes it is.

Can not listening
Musa (A.S.) in Islam. One of the contributing factors why Muslims have the daily 5x prayer.
I'm personally glad I'm atheist and don't have things like that in my life
Go watch 12 years a slave and then tell me you feel bad for egypt
Gilbert Beilschmidt its NOT a story, its real, in proven history. go get a life.
so much misconception in this comment chain
Frost LOL the irony is that you obviously believe it otherwise you wouldn't be feeling bad for Egypt.
+Frost you can't be an atheist if u believe in God. Sounds like u do.
Forth
mariah and whitney's version was better in my opinion
Zzzz...
