you do understand that her vocals are super dry with little to no effects or reverb! that's pretty damn good under those standards. plus shes in a soundproof room which makes every mistake super noticeable.
Elyze Ryd is EXPERT level singer and beautiful bunny all at ONCE. period.
for being dry, completely void of any processing, and in a vocal booth with ZERO natural reverb, that was pretty damn good. Here you can easily pick apart every tiny mistake she makes. If this had minimal processing and or was sung in a room with some natural verb like a bar or auditorium It would have been close to flawless to the human ear. Shes a very talented girl. In addition, I think she can handle those high notes such as.. "Like a Bird Across the...." better than Sia. Sia Always does intentional vocal cracks and sometimes trails off the note by doing some free riffing. Its apparent that this is around where her vocal cap is in contrast to Elize who has gone much higher than that. Both fantastic Artists though! In their own respects.
so many dislikes only because shoes singing a pop song. she sure can sing, and I'm glad I'm not on my adolescent tr00 headbanger phase, it's just ridiculous!

I don't think that she is exactly bad, but I can't think of her being very great either, based on this.
Based on this video I can say she can sing, I deal with vocalists all day long in my studio and I can safely say that shes was caught off guard, I'd have to check the sound of her band though, maybe there the thing don't work =)

Damn Elize tears it up, she's an amazing vocalist. Yeah it's a bit rough, but for a first attempt with no effects, like echo, it sounds great. She's also clearly just having fun, playing around with pitches.
For a shitty mic Elize sounds like she would kill this with a good mic.

Awesome job, Elize. The sound proofing and lack of compression/wet effects (a little of which would have made it amazing) exposed the abundance of intrinsic vocal/singing talent--on a Sia track--world-class songwriter and vocalist to say the least.

Personally I'm not a fan of Amaranthe (prefer different kinds of metal), and I do tend to rarely like female vocals (for whatever reasons, I don't really understand them myself), but chorus at 2:20 when Elize did not switch to falsetto was some seriously impressive stuff.
She's breathless at 1:30, after the chorus! Such is the power of this song!!! =o

i get the dislikes but it's a really difficult song and in the beginning probably she wasn't concentrating enough, she's clearly f+cking around and she sounded off. i listened to sia singing live, she's was worse than elize and she used voice effect like echos. after all for a fun karaoke performance of a really difficult song she did a good job, in my opinion

Omg a lot of old comments compared her to the original singer. Like, they're not the same person and Elize didn't seems like she wanted the original 'feeling', she just wanna have fun. That's why she sang it differently, that's what she wanted to do. Plus the mic isn't that good. It's a karaoke, not a studio(No offense to the owner, I understand.).And she can definitely sing high notes. She's a soprano after all. Check her channel, she has a lot of acoustic singing and she sounded sooooo good. Those people either take it too seriously or the stick to the original version too much.

I have to admit: I didnt's knew Sia exists, before I watched this, just found out. So: I was just comparing "get a song written by sb. else and singing it auto tuned in studio with anticipated video" vs. "cover it in free karaoke and surprise both sia and elize fans". Maybe there is something out there I didn't get right, ... Feel free to answer... ;)

its a pop song. but I think she did a great job. put the shitty genre aside and look at the technical aspect. there is music I wouldn't personally listen to myself but still have general respect for.
Now after i saw this video, made me more and more believed that metal artist are better than pop artist (in these days)
I think this is because they have more "freedom" this way, if you are a pop-singer, then - in most cases - you are a product of the music industry, you need to sell an image, your looks are given, your songs, lyrics are presented to you, you cannot do anything else. I know there are exceptions, but in most cases this is true.
Eliza ryd you should sing in your own language the songs that you love to sing but with this virus out there in so many countries and cities so be careful okay for the fans and to the people who want to see you perform some day fan alex

I feel like this doesn't really suits Elize's voice, she got a relatively powerful voice at the lower ranges, that's where she got all her power.
paecmaker She's actually a soprano, what means she is mostly comfortable in the upper range. As u hear, her low notes actually lack of support, high notes sound somewhat strained but powerful as fuck.

there's nothing wrong with that "scream" though (why is it a scream again?), it's just lack of vocal processing. In case you haven't noticed, this is raw, no effects, in a soundproof booth. And belting is much louder than regular singing, so the microphone spikes up, as audio levels aren't equalized. In terms of technique or pitch, it was not faulty

By the way, SIA has these breaks because she cared more about the artistic part than healthily singing the songs (a fact I don't like, but it was her intention so....).

Elize is a great singer, but unfortunately this song choice wasn't the best, most by the fact that it was surprise. She did not rehearse or checked previously if the song could go with her voice.

I love both of them. And they have completely different vocal styles, so you can't compare them. Lynn Gunn does a great COVER of this, but Elize Ryd can hit notes that Lynn can't in this KARAOKE version.
