- Installation video for TEC Big Bore Pipes and Silencers for Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
P.S. I am following the installation guide from TEC, but I am not a professional mechanic. This is just what I did. If you noticed a rookie mistake - please let me know in the comments section.

I like how you handled the parts, slow, gently ..its how i handle my precious GT 650
Thank you!
Fuck me its so refreshing getting some RE content from someone that's not a boomer xD
haha that's right brother
Tip, drop rubbers in a hot cup of water its easier to bung them back in, bit of hairspray good for cheap lube too, works just as good to fit grips on handlebars also.
That’s a good tip! Will help others!
But that wasn’t the most difficult. The most difficult was to screw the bold that goes through that rubbers in the central mounting point! Nearly gave up
@@thesundayrides Never, ever, give up. Go away, have a good nights sleep, then get up early and try again.
You will be surprised how much easier it is to solve problems when your brain is fresh and free from frustration.
I know, been there so many times, and it works every time.
Frustration is all part of life, as with most things in life there is a way around it, you just have to walk away for a while and think about it.
Also, if something won't fit cover it in grease, then try again.
Albert Einstein "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
Obviously you are not insane but this is so true
If ever you are stuck, I am happy to help, been working on bikes for 53 yrs, so I may be able to help.
I am currently customising my Red Indian 650
Not sure how to go about making contact though, (if you want to, I wont be offended if not, but I enjoy helping people if I can) 🙂
BTW, those Baak bars that I mentioned to you on another video having different sizes on the website was an error on their website which has now been corrected.
Very nice! Great looking bike. Sometimes, you can play on the frame rate of your shots to remove the flicker from the lights (only noticeable on your final shot) ;)
Thank you! Yes, I now pay attention to it! I didn’t notice that when I was filming because it wasn’t visible on the camera’s little lcd screen
Just mounted my tec pipes and had some problems with the right hand one that results a bit longer than the left one… and so, to mount on my Hitchcock Enfield Precision silencers had to pull in more the right silencer one than the left… just to have a symmetrical length between the two..
Yes, many people reported the same experience with the pipes. In my case TEC slip ons didn't want to slip on TEC pipes :) I didn't film it because I was mad... and thought I was unlucky with my instance.
And so how you did it ? Rubber Hammer ??? 😂😂😂
I did so with the right one Hitchcock silencer 😂
@@iamdarioelle lots of swearing and I put slip one as much as it can go and turned it and moved side to side to make the aperture larger. Not the experience I was looking for.
I think large tubing exhaust is a mistake. You don’t need back pressure, but you do need velocity in order to avoid reversion, and this is why custom pipes almost always reduce horsepower.
May be, but that depends on how you look at it. Interceptor is not about performance, it is about laid-back ride with style. these custom tubes and silencers improve the sound dramatically! also they are much lighter.
So is a pipe of ID 39mm good for a better exhaust velocity when compared to 45 mm pipes?
@@pravirop3161 yes
@@critterIMHO bro pls dont mind
But i think u inferred it wrong
Overall performance of 45mm pipe will be better due to increase in suction velocity and reduced back pressure
@@pravirop3161 No, a bigger pipe, allows the air to slow down and get in the way of the next pulse of exhaust. You can even get reversion, which absolutely kills horsepower. A smaller pipe forces the air to speed up and can actually help draw the next pulse of exhaust out.
Great job
Thanks, Stanley!
Loved how clean the video was, no shaky cam and editing was beautiful and very calming experience, what did you spray in the end on the new exhausts? Wd40? If you ever plan to install 865cc big bore kit on your machine i will watch it.
Hello! Thank you a lot for watching the video and taking time to leave a comment! That means a lot! Thanks for the nice feedback!
In the end I sprayed it with alcohol to clean the grease. If you don't do it, you are risking your fingerprints will leave permanent patchy marks on the clean brushed surface.
865cc big bore kit is my dream. I would not dare to do it alone though, I will need a helper and a proper place to do it.
@@thesundayrides Can I please have that spray link or name please? I would be looking forward to more videos from you, especially big bore 😀.
@@muttineni03 sorry, I didn’t notice your comment. You can use any alcohol with high percentage of spirit. I used isopropyl rubbing alcohol
@@thesundayrides Thank you!!
Nice work Max, it sounds great. Do you have the Fuel booster plug (Techbikeparts) installed?
Thanks! I will record the new sounds properly soon too! My bike is euro5 and booster plug is incompatible with it, but I have FuelX instead!
@@thesundayrides I've never heard a mechanical modification video done in the "ASMR" theme ;-)
@@B0M0A0K haha! I am not ‘mechanically’ good enough to add useful commentary 😂😂
@@thesundayrides Well, that's alright. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses. 👍

No more passengers?
Noone is brave enough to ride with me anyway
Which paddock stand are you using?
Hey there! Black 5161 Pro Range B5161 Adjustable Rear Paddock Stand (with Rubber Cradle Cup Adaptors) for £50 from Amazon
Center stand gone ay?
Gone and not gone! I removed it to save weight. When I need to use it in my garage I put it back and secure it. Works for me.
On this video it is still there tho
@@thesundayrides did you notice any power gains?
@@theradiantchild no, absolutely nothing! Noticeable gain from weight reduction only
@@thesundayrides that's disappointing
mate what size are the nut/bolt in the cylinder head? i am having trouble removing the nut because the screw sticks out past the nut and my socket is not able to reach it. do you have to use a special/longer socket to get it out?
hey joe, I need to check that. I used a standard socket from the kit, I can measure that one too. please bear with me
@@thesundayrides I think it takes a 12mm socket as that what the other bolts and nuts on the exhaust take too. I’m going to try to buy a deeper socket to see if it will reach the cylinder nuts
@@RMD992-f2n just checked: it’s 12mm socket, mine is 12mm deep and 25mm long.. hope it helps
what does the cream on the silencer metal do? are the tec exhausts lighter than stock?
Hey Joe! that's Metalworkx Metal polish.
Tec exhausts are much lighter than stock. Don't remember exactly, but it feels like they are twice lighter.
@@thesundayrides 9.8kg lighter for the full system with the TEC covers
@@leeevans3546 huge saving! However, this will move centre of gravity a bit higher. Not that it is a big issue
Why you didn’t choose Hitchcook’s Enfield precision ?
I don’t know. I listened to a few videos and picked one that was priced as good as it sounds:) you can’t go go wrong, I don’t know any bad option
Thanks a lot
@@iamdarioelle welcome!
