    Excellent works of wood, they are really a source of inspiration for those of us who have assumed teaching work as something important, but also fun. Working with wood as well as being relaxing is an opportunity to teach any area of knowledge, be it mathematics or any other area of science. I work in a small school (Escuela Integral para los Artes Niños Cantores de los Llanos) in the south of Venezuela, where we have taken on the challenge of teaching under a premise: Art, a way to build knowledge and build values. So thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn with your wonderful samples and that allow us to expand the cognitive horizon. Thank you

    Thanks, Bruce. I dabble in woodworking, but have never made wooden toys. I have a couple of young mothers with their young kids who drop by my garage almost daily to say "hi" and to see what I'm making, so I was looking for a way to make wooden wheels to make toy cars for them. Your jig idea has inspired me very much, so I'm going to give it a go. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Cheers!

    The bandsawtip is really great! Wish I had a lathe to make it easier to clean up the wheels!

      Check out my Mini lathe video, Jolien. Can be made from and old drill. I like your toy series.

      @JolienBrebels 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey yeah I've already seen that one. But I don't know if my drill could handle it. Maybe it will be overheated?

    • @thewoodtoybloke7446
      @thewoodtoybloke7446  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very little load on the drill. Shouldn't be a drama. :)

    Wonderful! I used this technique for my wheels and find it curious that I used the exact same angles as you chose even though I am watching this a year after I built mine. You are welcome to check out my mining truck video to see them. Just search for S.G. Devries or The BIG truck. Nice work.

    Nice work! Would you share the angle of the jig you made for your bandsaw to make the cuts in the tires?

    • @thewoodtoybloke7446
      @thewoodtoybloke7446  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Martin. The angle is about 20 degrees. I really just picked something that looked reasonable. Cheers, Bruce.

    My husband makes wheels like these, he has a jig for the table saw, 15degree angle in the left miter gauge slot same in the right slot. It is a plywood jig with an index mark for the slots. The band saw looks great but the slots are too thin.

    So why don't you bevel the wooden wheel sides first then cut the grooves. A template with grooves already cut could be taped onto your already sanded wheel and placed on the rod on the jig. Hope this makes sense to you love the channel.

    The trick is to do what you did on the table saw with a full width wheel. Then, when you have them all cut simple cut the wheel down the middle on the band saw, flip the pieces I’ve and glue back together. Tracks match up perfectly and for an exact match.

    is there a way I might ask for the plans for the jigs

    • @thewoodtoybloke7446
      @thewoodtoybloke7446  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry. I don't have plans. They don't need that sort of precision. just pick you own angle for the wedge shape and follow the process in the video. Cheers
