Thank you Mr. Galloway for your incredible efforts to get these men the thanks they so richly deserve. So many of them went to their graves thinking America hated them for serving in Vietnam. From my time serving in Rolling Thunder, I can honestly say that nothing is farther from the truth. Our military heroes and veteran heroes have seen a resurgence from the American public in terms of appreciation for not only their sacrifice, but also the medical issues they have encountered from Agent Orange.

Joe, I've seen the book by you and Hal mentioned for years in Vietnam magazine (I missed Vietnam by just a few years), and finally bought a used copy. Great book. I've always liked military books and movies and I have to say this is the BEST.

I think you can make the case that Joe Galloway is a true American hero. Though, technically, he never spent so much as a single day in day in the armed forces of the United States, he was a solider in every sense of the word. He didn't have to be there. He was. Once he got there, he could have cowered in a foxhole. He didn't. He fought along side Hal Moore and his men.

Galloway initially enrolled in community college in 1959, but dropped out after six weeks to join the Army. He did serve, but never in Combat. He was out and in School when Vietnam got hot.

RIP. Will we ever know? From a drafted (with US: used for conscripted enlisted personnel in front of service numbers) disabled Republic of Vietnam combat veteran '68. My buddy Jesse Carmona, Jr. had been in the Army for only 8 months. Look him up. Our next door neighbor, Alex Zsigo, was killed in June of 1967 at the Battle of the Slopes the month I took my Army physical in Detroit. I saw 4 men die at the same time and did not know their name. There are many more! I felt betrayed by LBJ. I thought Nixon lied or did not know, one or the other. People ask me when was I in Vietnam? I tell them, "Last night." My mother would send me news clippings from Galloway. Eaglegards...
