    Hmm... if you don’t mind parking the wheego there, why don’t you have a 240V outlet there? You can wire a plug into the lift cabling that way it can be unplugged when you need to charge the wheego, and vice versa. I live in Australia and that’s how it’s done here. There’s almost always a 15A plug socket for the lift, which use a different socket (they use a larger earth pin, so you can plug 10A stuff into 15A or even 32A just fine, but you can’t plug that stuff into a normal socket), and that 15A socket can sometimes be the only 15A socket you have in the garage, so it’s really bloody handy if you need to plug in some piece of industrial gear, you can just yank the lift out and there’s your 15A.

    Wheego's internal charger is faulty. Actally, different LEDs not lit on the batteries is a good sign, they are probably ok, but not getting charged properly. Different source(s) from the outlet energize different parts in the charger to get batts charged.
    First you need to check electrical contacts (conductivity) between internal charger and batteries, as you might be lucky to have a bad or oxidized connection. Then, there is charger itself, for which I suspect has something burned out. It does not have to be something complicated, and I suspect it is the circuit that connects those golf-cart chargers into joint batt charger.

    The BMS won't take a charge if the battery modules are below the cutoff voltage, so if you want to save the batteries, you're going to have to remove the cells and charge them individually. If you get lucky, you can use a constant current/constant voltage power supply to force a charge into them, which will raise the SOC high enough so that the normal chargers can take over. Otherwise, they're gone, especially if you leave them for too much longer.

  • @flyingpapaye
    @flyingpapaye 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If batteries are from the Lithium iron phosphate type, they can usually be revived even if down to zero volts. (The voltage being too low may be the reason why either the charger is not starting or the bms prevents the charger to start). Last time I had to do it, I slowly brought each of the 20s pack of my maxi scooter from 0 to 30v each with a lab power supply set up as constant current source (max voltage set to 30v) with a pair of amps or , starting from less than an amp at the beginning, before the voltage raised. Took some time, but they came back alive no problem, and at the end the voltage was high enough for the main charger to pickup. I'd suggest to try the same for every group of four.

    Did the Wheego's batteries get below a minimum safe level? Lots of battery management systems won't charge a pack with cells that measure below a safe voltage, this could cause the entire pack to report as faulty when only a few of the cells may be damaged. I'd start by testing the voltage of each pack and determining what their nominal, maximum. and minimum voltages should be.

    Have you tried replacing the 12 volt battery in the Wheego? Or at least temporarily swapping it with a known good one? They do go bad after a while, especially if left to die and fully recharged a few times, so maybe the 12 volt battery is past saving and simply needs to be swapped out.

    Pull the packs apart & search Alibaba/etc for replacements? You could reach out to Will Prowse (he's on youtube) about the battery issue, he knows his beans when it comes to lithium batteries.

    When showing up at places LST is somewhere between 5 and 20 minutes behind normal time.
    And when it comes to projects and time management it doesn't sync up at all.

    240v is what we have in the UK for all our household power outlets, we call them" plug sockets " that's why we have the 3 pin plug. We need this to power an electric kettle quickly to make tea, nothing more

    Thought about making a window in the sloped roof section? Like on a Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser or a Buick Sport Wagon? Let more light inn from above and ad a little design element from the large wagons of the late sixties and seventies.

    To be honest, I'd never even heard of Wheego until I saw your videos about it.

    Nissan Leaf battery packs, custom a/m charge controller and control module to the factory motor. I think even if it takes some time to gather it all, it'd be cool to have a electric car that no one has heard about to cruise around in.... I'm sure Rich Rebuilds would have some info for doing this if needed.

    From how it's acting, you might have flipped polarity on some cells. I would try to charge it one cell at a time, at least enough that each module powers up normally. Then it might change up from the port properly

    Are you sure the car doesn't have a recovery mode? When you allow a lithium cell to go all the way to zero or even close to it, you will usually have to charge it with a very low voltage to get it started and then you can charge it with a regular charger.

  • @DavidScheiber

    Sounds like you may have a bad cell or a balance board causing one cell to not charge, this is causing all of the other cells to not charge as the balance boards try to keep the charge level in all of the cells the same or if the charging balance is managed by the charger it could also be a bad charger
