Hey Dude - just wanted to say A Huge Thanks for your Base Hacks series. I watched them yesterday and just changed the following settings: 1) added 4 feet to the distances of the subwoofers. 2) reduced the avr trim from - 5.5 and - 6.5 to - 11.5 for both and increased the gain from -20 to - 10. 3) increased the crossovers of the front and center speakers from 60 to 80, surrounds and rear surrounds to 90 and the elevation speakers to 100-110. My setup is: Denon X8500H 2 PB-16 Ultra subs (1 front & 1 rear) 2 Ultra towers Ultra center 2 Ultra Surrounds 2 Ultra Rear Surrounds 8 SVS Elevation speaker (3 front Heights, 2 middle left and right, 1 top and 2 rear). And its like i have a completely new system. It just blew my mind, i canmot believe how such small adjustments made such a huge difference. So a massive thank you for this. Cheers mate
I'm a big car audio guy, and started dabbling into home audio a lil deeper. I bought a Denon AVR-S750H from Denon directly refurbished for $350. I love it, but way more advanced than any ave I've ever had. So I appreciate all your content! Thank ya!
This channel is pure gold. I haven’t got a full setup yet but I’m bookmarking this as well as the bass hacks playlist to go through each one when I do. Thank you so much for all your efforts! Very much appreciated!
Thanks for this. Turning the SW level down on my AVR and upping the gain fixed the issues I was having with my Subwoofer. This after spending all weekend swapping cables and going through every other setting in the manual. Finally have the deep bass without distortion
I have the Denon AVR -X8500H 13.2 receiver. I used this tutorial and it totally transformed my 13.1 setup from just okay to absolutely great. I used the audyssey as my initial setup but it just did not sound like I envisioned it would, I have a Rotel and Paradigm surround sound system in another location to compare it to, I had enough of the Denon and Polk Setup sounding so bland and decided to do some research and stumbled upon this video. I can’t thank you enough on how you totally made my Denon and Polk combination sound IMAX theater like. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH😊😊😊.
Comments like this are what inspire me to make videos! Thank you for your super chat, I believe you are the first person to do so, and I am very appreciative!!
Subwoofer 101 No problem! I really enjoy your channel and learn something new all the time! I have also bought a couple of SVS subs because of your channel and I love them!
I believe some Denon AVRs ship with "Tone control" active and turned on with bass and treble jacked way up. This setting can only be accessed by hitting the "option" button on the remote. I had actually never even used it until recently because I always use the menu to get into settings and tone control is nowhere to be found in the normal settings so I wasn't even aware it existed. The tone control option is essentially hidden under the option button on the remote, as that is the only way to access it. After years of owning my AVR I just discovered yesterday that tone control was active and I have been running with treble +6 and bass +2 without even realizing it. I've always thought this AVR sounded bright and now that mystery is solved after disabling tone control. If you own a Denon definitely make sure you're not unintentionally running with tone control active.
Hey buddy that’s great stuff. My setup is pretty much at default settings because Im a complete physics and electronics noob. I will go over the tips again and try to apply the ones I think are applicable to my situation. Wanted to give you a little trick I learned in algorithms. When you have a series of possibilities (like you had the sound delay setting and how many ms of delay you should choose) and you have no idea which one is the closest to the right pick, pick the middle one. If it is good, keep it. If it is too much, your perfect number is on the left half of the series. You apply the same idea to the left half of the series (you divide the left half into two halves and you pick the middle one). By applying this concept, you can reach the right number in 2-4 attempts instead of trying out each possibility. Thanks again.
Great video. One thing I’d change: set eco mode to Auto. There is no discernible performance loss and your AVR runs much, much cooler (extending its life). With the auto setting the avr is only in eco mode when the volume is below 50%. I used to leave eco mode off but have since learned better.
@@Subwoofer101 I do find that I need to turn my rears down by three decibels while using Dynamic EQ. Such a great feature though and I will never live without it. Do you find the rear channels to be a bit overwhelming with it engaged?
I did a video about that, "the speaker level hack". If one speaker is 12 ft away, and the other speaker is 6 ft away, the speaker that is 6 ft away should have a lower decibel measurement. So even though the meter reads the exact same decibel, the closer speaker will be overpowering.
Perfect timing!! I just ordered a new Denon AVR S750H arriving Thurs. and will have to set it up. I'm sure I will be back to this video several times!! Thanks!!
Great video, very informative 👍🏻 Note, on my Sony AVR after running the auto calibration I have to reset the speakers to Small because the auto calibration always sets my Left/Right Front speakers to Large.
Thanks! Yeah it's pretty common for AVR room correction to do that. Even on towers rated for 40 hertz. I just see room correction as a starting point, and then put in the right values. Thanks for the feedback!
I recently tried the flat setting on my Marantz sr8012 receiver the other night and noticed it sounded better than reference. It could be just me but after switching back and forth while watching a movie it seemed like reference was too sparkly and flat reminded me of a commercial cinema sound along with setting my crossover at 100hz for my speakers.
You are right about the crossover I have the svs ultra towers and they was 60hz was good but when I put them like you said 90hz sound much better I feel more power on the speakers thank you .
I always like watching your videos so I can go back and play with my setups. There's always something to learn so I'm glad there people out there sharing the knowledge.
The setting that made most difference in my audio experience was changing from Reference to Flat. Recently removed entire entertainment system due to getting the room painted and new furniture. Reinstalled and let audessy do its thing. Then did more tweaking following your hacks and my SPL meter. Was so upset that it did not sound full. Then I watched this video and saw the reference vs flat. Made that change and wow the entire system came to life. Can you provide more detail on what this change does?
I'm a newbie to the home theater scene so your video was a tremendous help and very enlightening. Your concluding #1 suggestion helped explain why my Sony STR-DN1080 would be muted on power up, and before I hear the speakers switch on. I haven't found a setting that allows me to adjust my volume level on power up but evidently the engineers at Sony work around accomplishes the same thing, and it is nice to be able to power up without a random nasty surprise "pop".
Yeah, that's already in the description! I found out that it was on Prime after I shot the video. Great point though, because the difference is pretty substantial. Good looking out!
My Denon AVR-1513 actually has the audio delay/lip sync adjustment buttons right on the remote no need for menus :) makes it easy peezee 58ms seems to be the magic number for me..
Appreciate your time and effort in making this 🙏🏻 I am one of the benefitted people who really appreciate what you do! One question though, don't you think distances should be kept unchanged as it is about the time delays? Welcome your ideas and suggestions 😊
I’m not sure you are correct on the crossover settings. If you set your speakers to small and then set your crossovers on your mains at 90, every time bass drops below 90 it all is sent or crossed over to the subs. Everything above 90 will still be played with that crossover but nothing below. You should set your crossover on those mains about 20 to 30HZ higher than the rated spec. It’ll give your room a much fuller sound stage.
The crossover on the AVR is not a hard cutoff for the speaker, but it is for the subwoofer. subwoofer101.com/setting-up-your-gear/large-vs-small-lfe-main-double-bass-etc/
My focals can go low to 40hz but they are set to 60hz and the subwoofer set to 50hz . The bass is spread across the room . You can’t tell where the bass is coming from the sub or the speakers. It’s sounds like a thunder… I love it
Great video. Adjusted my system per recommendations and the sound is incredibly better. Especially increasing distance of subwoofer. Thanks Much to the author!!!
Be careful using Subwoofer Level Adjust on many Denons it resets your Manual Subwoofer speaker trim to 0. So if you add +3 db there and your manual speaker trim is -7 then you effectively have added +10db to your subwoofer. Which can cause your subwoofer to bottom out if you dont have enough headroom. Using the option > Channel Level feature is preferred for me as you can fine tune it per input without impacting the manual trims, usefull especially if you use seperate inputs for streaming services which tend to have more bass.
@@JohnnieLoveuboundoil how can I adjust channel level though when watching tv, or streaming via tv? I find that works when I'm on game mode & my PC is connected as the media source.
I got my front speakers at -5 and I'm like holy shit that sounds a whole lot different and I'm actually watching your video and it sounds more clearer and I'm only at 20 volume on my Sony receiver and I have the subwoofer on negative 10
You have a good voice for describing which makes it easier to absorb what you are explaining. One important issue I've encountered is I like listening to my music at one level say 20, and playing by movies at a different level say 40. Question: can we program the Denon 960 to automatically play at certain levels each time for each various sound mode levels? Your feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers
Hi , Thanks for all your videos and sound advice. On your recommendation I recently bought a used Denon avr x4000 with the xt32 audyssey. I have a few questions regarding my dual subs which are svs pb 2000. Should I do your recommended sub hacks after running audyssey such as the punchier bass hack? Sorry, Maybe that's obvious . And the x4000 has dual separate sub outputs but before running audyssey should I use a Y connecter to connect both subs and just use the number 1 sub output? If your too busy, I'm ok with any advice from others too.
Glad I finally came across your channel! Wish I could speak directly to you but hopefully you'll just respond to my question, is there a way to access the setup menu when but using the arc? meaning my other sources was connected direct to the TV, thx in advance.
What is the difference in sound between setting avr gain to 0 and increasing gain on the sub amp Vs setting avr to -11 and turning up gain. I would think that setting avr higher would allow for gain to be more sensitive/exacerbated on the sub amp gain. Not sure if I'm asking that correctly.
I did set my speakers to small even if they are large. I did notice that the sub sounds better because the remaining db to the sub. But it will vary for other movies with atmos. For me it's godzilla king of monsters, in atmos.
Hello may I ask you a question ? If i wanted to set up my system sound manually because Audyssey gets it wrong then how do i enter the Speaker Distances measurements into Audyssey? Do I actually run Audyssey first and then go under Manual setting /Distances and undo what Audyssey has listed and enter my own? I thought part of the purpose of having Audyssey do it was because it also included the Delay accourding to the distance of each speaker, so if you go in and undo it wont that cancel out the delay that goes with the distance for each speaker that Audyssey measured ? If you measure your speaker distances manually i dont know what to do with the measurement i guess is what im asking . Thank you
Hello. I have the Denon X250BT amp with 5.1 speakers. I am trying to do a factory reset but on my amp but it just says INITIALIZED and thats it. The reason i want to reset is because the Home theater installation technician, during the initial setup, set the 2 front tower speakers to a different bass and treble setting individually and it just sounds bad. Am not sure whether the amp has some kind of secret menu or service menu to enter and make these changes. I am aware about the tone control on the Denon amp, but wanted to know wheter we can enter a menu to change the bass and treble of each speaker like the technician did. Was wondering if you have a solution for this and could please help out. Thank you.
90 hertz for the front stage, 120 hertz for the small surrounds, which are the Elevations. If you're running the Ultra Surrounds, you can go with 90 hertz on those, since they have bigger drivers. That's probably what I would set them at. It might seem a bit high, but pretty much any speaker in my system is going to be crossed at least 90 hertz.
The right video for me as a beginner.Speaking about speaker lever , i have set my front speakers to 3.5.db.When i decrease it i don’t like the sound and it is not loud enough for me, the volume sound low. At 3.5 it sounds very loud and nice.I am not that far from speakers. Is it a good idea to increase it more without any damage to my speakers.I am using Martin Logan 40 motion speakers. The precise video i have been looking for. Thanks for the video.
Best thing to do if you are using a full surround setup is to get the Eagles Farewell 1 Tour on Blu Ray. I know that's very specific, but once you have DTS Master on for sure (showing up on your AVR), the mix is VERY good for letting your ears figure out what the levels should be. No single speaker should stand out or be hard to hear. Doing it with movies, basic music, or even that same concert on Amazon Prime is not as good. Definitely see the Speaker Leve Hack for more information about it. Thanks for watching!
@@Subwoofer101 I have definitive technology towers with built in power subs can I blend the bass with my pb2000 pros duals or should I turn the bass off on the towers
Nana, you are very welcome! Waymon, it depends, truly a case by case basis. I would probably set them as small, cross them at 90 hertz, turn the tower subs down to nothing, turn the SVS subs up to as high as you can without them sounding overdone, then try to dial up the tower subs a little at a time. You might be able to get some benefit, or you might be better off leaving them turned down. Trust your ears above all else. I imagine you will be able to get some positive benefit from the tower subs, but I would have the dedicated subs handle the majority of the bottom end duties. Room EQ Wizard is a good idea to verify that you aren't introducing any serious peaks or cancellations.
@@Subwoofer101 ok thank you very much sir always look forward to your channel ,and thanks for being the first review of the pb2000 pros I have duals what a difference
This question might be off topic, but I knew you would have a good answer. Regarding reference offset levels(denon), where do you set yours? -5, -10, -15, or off? Thank and keep up the great work!!!!
I did a video on it, not very popular, but I like what it's done. Extreme Toe-in has benefits and drawbacks, but I've grown to prefer it. I think it's worth trying anyway.
at 10:17 you talked about using a decibel meter, but after that what you said didn't make sense if you had been using an actual decibel meter. Which decibel meter did you use?
Love you videos. Finally starting to feel like I understand how to correctly setup my AVR. I also have a several Denon AVRs. I have a question that you might be able to help with... If I run the room configuration setup using the Audyssey, it wants to set me front speakers to "large" with crossovers around 40 Hz. After I run that, if I go into the manual settings and change the speaker size and crossovers, how do I know it's using the Manual settings as opposed to the Audyssey? Do you control that by selecting Reference vs Flat in the Audio->Audyssey->MultEQ XT? Sorry if the question is rudimentary but trying to ensure I don't misunderstand a setting and fail to get the best sound quality I can. Also, I have my front speakers on bi-amp - the speakers support it. Is there any reason not to use that setup with a 5.1 system? Thanks for your videos and sharing your knowledge and setup. It's much appreciated.
Hey there, about crossover frequencies where you talked about cut off HZ value for subs.. That setting seem a bit stupid and not worthy writing a single line of code...BUT, I was thinking and it just might be useful if for example you have 4 subs and set each one at a higher frequency- 40,70,100,120...depending on their position and the size of the driver, whether it's sealed or reflex...
Hi. Thank you for the video. I set my woofer on 120 hz. My central start at 40 hz and set it on 80 hz. The frontal speakers start at 65 hz and set it on 100 hz. I would have mid bass and soft bass from front. Deep bass are for the woofer. Is that correct or I have to set front on 110,120....?
Whatever you set your speakers to, that is the limitation for the subs. I usually have a minimum of 90 hertz for any speaker, and the smaller the speaker, the higher I run the crossover. Even if it does nothing, I set the crossover on the subwoofer at the highest setting (250 hertz) effectively disabling any filtering, so is you wanted to experiment with a high crossover, like 200 hertz, the chance of that being filtered is lower.
@@Subwoofer101 I see... And do you use audissey app? There's a frequency filter. Someone set it low, around 500 Hz or less. And others says to don't touch this option. What's your opinion?
I have tower speakers with no sub. It automatically sets no sub when i put it to large. In the bass settings subwoofer mode is grayed out but lpf for lfe is set to 120hz. Is that ok. Or do i set speakers to small then subwoofer mode is available. Is it better to pick lfe+ main and leave lpf for lfe to 120. Remember that i only have 2 tower klipsh rf52. Many thanks.
Hey Subwoofer 101, I Really Got A Problem??? Don't Know If You Could Or Not, But I'm Going To Ask Away .... How Do I Fix Or Is Capable Of Being Fix, Protect Mode On My Denon AVRX6700H??? I Unplugged Everything And Put It In Another Outlet And Room, Came On Like Regular Without The Issue! But I Don't Know When I Connect Everything Back, What's Going To Happen Again????
Your outlet might be the problem, too much or too little voltage, or you could have had a stray copper "whisker" that shorted between the speaker terminals on one of your speakers. The copper whisker thing could be at the AVR, at the speaker, or somewhere in between. If you don't find something obvious, you can use a multi meter, disconnect both ends of the speaker cable, and test for continuity (the beeping function) between the positive and negative cables. If the speaker cable is disconnected at both ends, there should be no continuity between positive and negative. Are you using banana plugs? That would probably be less likely to be problematic than bare wire. If you had bare wire speaker cables at the AVR, simply disconnecting them could have solved the problem, if it was a stray copper whisker. Those are just my ideas, by no means exhaustive. If you are uncomfortable with anything I suggested, don't do it. In that case, or if you can't identify the issue, call Denon. It's a good thing that it went back to normal after switching to another outlet. I've had an AVR totally brick on me. No clue why yet. The fact that yours got out of protection mode is a good thing. One last thing is that it could be a wire inside of a speaker itself. You can test your speakers for resistance, and if you have one that is a lot lower than the other speakers, that could definitely be your problem. I hope you get it figured out, that's a nice AVR. Since it went back to normal after protection mode suggests that the problem *might* not be in the AVR itself. Hopefully it's something simple.
@@Subwoofer101, Man I Needed Especially From Someone I've Watched For Year's A Taught Me So Much!!!! I Hope Everything Is 🙏 Going Well For You These Days Buddy!!!! I Truly Am Grateful You Responded!!!! Yes I Do Have Banana Plugs For My Speakers. I Hope It's Not The Speakers Themselves Cause That Could Be A Task Within Itself. I'm Guessing A Stray Speaker Wire Somewhere, But I'm Willin To Do As You're Saying Even Investigate The Wire Within The Speakers!!!! I Know To Look Over The Speaker Wires Themselves And To Do The Speaker 🔊 Tone Test Or The Audyssey Calibration And All!!!! I Would Get To Learn Use The Tool For Testing The Other Factors Involving The Speaker 🔊 Wire. I Appreciate This I Really Pal!!! Take Care!!!! ❤
@michaelburton5198 It's probably not in the speakers, that's more of a long shot but still a possibility. Biggest thing is if you see a drastic difference in resistance from 1 speaker compared to the rest. Even then, I would imagine it being a shorted voice coil rather than a stray wire inside the speaker itself, but anything is possible. Test tones are a good idea to rule out good speakers and connections. Glad to respond, not sure how helpful it will ultimately be, but I hope it's resolved soon. Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate your support!
in my receiver /onkyo/ i have option "double bass" mode to subwoofer which means even in full range "large" speakers mode receiver still sends bass to subwoofers.. works perfect for my ears.. as is such a waste of 2x10 inch bass woofers each on my mains to set them as smaller speakers and not use them to the fullest ... thats very useful for LARGE speakers + subwoofers
You should check out my Large vs Small Hack video. I use a particular track to see which sounds better. The question I have is what kind of subs are you running? That might have something to do with it. Of course there's really no wrong way to do any of this, it's all personal preference, but when it comes to the really deep stuff, your subwoofers should be better than your towers, noticeably better. Your 10-in drivers are still active when set as Small, they just aren't straining as much to get the really deep stuff.
@@Subwoofer101 on paper my main speakers can go down to 32 hz i just found better for my ears and my room to use this double bass setting after tried everything else..bass is more thick and full.. subwoofer is klipsch 12 inch and another one 10" to help his big brother :) ... great subject and videos.. check www.audiocheck.net great for diagnostics

Hi...love your channel. thanks for all your insight! Is it normal for a Marantz AVR to set dual SVS PB 4000's at different gain levels? after running Auddy...the left is 1.5db lower...should I set equal? or keep one lower as per Auddy? thanks!
Totally normal, depending on how your room is set up. My left sub is more corner loaded than the right. Therefore I don't need as much gain for the same output. 3-4 dB difference in my case. Check out my Bass Hack video series, particularly the Crossover Hack, The Distance Hack, The Gain Hack, and Adjusting Subs by Ear. Each one should be a nice little bump in performance.
Thanks for sharing this video. I have a pretty similar set up in my marantz SR6010 but the question that I have for you is how does the Channel level setting works when you press info button in your remote? Is this extra power? My point is that in my level menu I have 2db for my front left and 2.5 in my center but when I press the info button in my remote the channel level setting is 9dbs for my fronts and 8db in the center..... I don’t understand why having 2 different levels ? Your opinion ?
Great informative video! I do have one additional question...what is your opinion of Cinema EQ with the Denon AVR's? Do you normally leave it On or Off for movies?
I have an onkyo rz3100, oppo uhd205, def tech supercube reference and trinity, and 7000sc towers. Hooked up lfe. Still dont know if i have everything dialed in right.
What if your running two subs....one at the front of the room and one at the back. When u run audessy will it know to differentiate the distances? I would like to try your add 4 ft to the settings.
It really depends on the model of AVR. If it has a separate distance for each subwoofer, 4 feet over room correction value for each sub should work. If you only have a single distance value for both subs, I would try to put them both up front, run room correction again, and add 4 feet to the subwoofer distance value. Which subs are you using?

I say no meter is needed when setting levels. By ear is the best method because we do not hear things the same as a meter. People are so afraid to tweak by ear, its stupid. I do virtually everything that I can by ear. Strict audiophiles are some of the most gullible people I have ever met.
I've had people basically demand that I give them a decibel number for subwoofers. Sorry, can't do it. Too many factors make it completely inconsistent, including the response curve of the subwoofer, multiple subs, etc... I've also gotten a lot further by regularly testing conventional wisdom. Conventional wisdom is not always the best way to go. If I followed conventional wisdom to set up my theater, it would sound pretty anemic and unsatisfying.

Great Video and thanks! One thing nobody ever talks about or did a video (not that I've seen) is the awesome upmixing the denon does. I was watching Running Man on Dish network demand last week which is a 1984 movie I believe and the upmixing was incredible! Especialy since the input from Dish was only 2 channel according to the Denon app. Man I love my x6500 with how it reproduces the audio, I had sound in all my 7.2.4 system with great left to rights and front to backs! Maybe sometime you can do a video on the different settings and how they differ like from neutralxx to atmos etc.
@@waymonfrench2077 I use the neutral xx as it seems to produce the best surround sound to my ears. If a movie is produced in Dolby like on Netflix I leave it at that. Sub gain in receiver is -3 and on sub is at half. What's nice about the app is I can change things on the fly without halting to see it on the screen. Netflix, Dish and 4k bluray all send signals different with 4k disc being the best. My opinion
I watched saving private ryan last night on a 4k disc and man these subs kick hard you can feel the air pressure if you turn them up loud enough but that won't be necessary, gonna watch midway sometime today in 4k ,but that saving private Ryan is awesome with the explosive scene ,sound like bullets are going everywhere that is if you have a good surround system, I have svs elevation speakers two sets and they do a fantastic job with Dolby atmos

These are pretty potent and I imagine the bass would be to heavy at -1 through -9 on the subwoofer gain. And we are talking about lipsync delay, to get the sound in time with the video. I would be afraid of that messing up the continuity of the sound. Ideally, the distance values should make it to where every speaker reaches your ears at the exact same time. The furthest speaker gets the sound first, the closest speaker gets it last. That's why adding distance puts bass in the room a little sooner. Basically, the distance setting is a more palatable, easier to understand value, rather than millisecond adjustments. If it was just a millisecond adjustment, the amount of match and calculation involved would give me a headache. So if you adjust speakers to be a different value (subs aside for the distance hack), it can end up a mess. Using the sync option in 10 millisecond increments to get close first, then getting closer with the 1 millisecond adjustment should be more ideal. The Eagles concerts are particularly good for this. Roger Waters The Wall is a great concert too, but far too "busy" to get the timing right. Out of curiosity, would you adjust the center alone, or all speakers together? More distance or less? Your experience could actually help me figure something else out.
Subwoofer 101 Adjusting lip sync does not have a negative value, it only has positive value. Some content needs -10 or -30, but we can only go up. We can’t control both. But changing center distance by .1 or .2 may actually fix it. 🍎tv+ and Disney+ have different sync issues, it’s incredibly frustrating. As a DENON owner, you know we can make incremental changes right? They aren’t accurate to the inch 12 Vs 10, but we can still make small adjustments. Trust me, .1 .2 .3 of the center channel does not affect bass in any way that matters.
Thanks! I owe you much more because of how you totally transformed my Denon/polk setup. Thanks you🙂🙂🙂
Thank you so much!! I'm glad it's made a positive difference for you!
Hey Dude - just wanted to say A Huge Thanks for your Base Hacks series. I watched them yesterday and just changed the following settings:
1) added 4 feet to the distances of the subwoofers.
My setup is:
Denon X8500H
2 PB-16 Ultra subs (1 front & 1 rear)
2 Ultra towers
Ultra center
2 Ultra Surrounds
2 Ultra Rear Surrounds
8 SVS Elevation speaker (3 front Heights, 2 middle left and right, 1 top and 2 rear).
And its like i have a completely new system. It just blew my mind, i canmot believe how such small adjustments made such a huge difference. So a massive thank you for this. Cheers mate

This comment alone made the whole video worth it! Thanks for the feedback!
Dynamic EQ is a must. Best feature on a AVR by far.
100%

FYI for your viewers, Eagles Farewell I on Prime streaming has only the compressed audio. DTS Master is only available on Blu-Ray
Right on, that's pretty handy!

One question though, don't you think distances should be kept unchanged as it is about the time delays?
Welcome your ideas and suggestions 😊
Very Very nicely done. Thank You for taking the time to produce this video
Hey, I appreciate it, and thanks for stopping by!

Using the option > Channel Level feature is preferred for me as you can fine tune it per input without impacting the manual trims, usefull especially if you use seperate inputs for streaming services which tend to have more bass.
thepiecesfit Exactly👍. “Never” use your “Subwoofer level adjust” in main menu

You have a good voice for describing which makes it easier to absorb what you are explaining. One important issue I've encountered is I like listening to my music at one level say 20, and playing by movies at a different level say 40.

Thank you.

My subwoofer level adjust is grayed out so what can I do to adjust it?
I have the svs ultra towers, center and surrounds....what crossover do you set yours at? I have my towers at 60 hz and the others at 80 hz.
Subwoofer 101 ,Thanks for the swift reply.I will check out that video to get more insight.

Thank You.

Hey there,
about crossover frequencies where you talked about cut off HZ value for subs.. That setting seem a bit stupid and not worthy writing a single line of code...BUT, I was thinking and it just might be useful if for example you have 4 subs and set each one at a higher frequency- 40,70,100,120...depending on their position and the size of the driver, whether it's sealed or reflex...
Another great video! Hope your doing alright through all the craziness.
why don't you use the audyssey App?
Indeed it works really great
my woofers are behind me..two klipsch.they are measured 1.65m ..should i also add 4 feet (1m roughly?) ?

I Truly Am Grateful You Responded!!!! Yes I Do Have Banana Plugs For My Speakers. I Hope It's Not The Speakers Themselves Cause That Could Be A Task Within Itself. I Know To Look Over The Speaker Wires Themselves And To Do The Speaker 🔊 Tone Test Or The Audyssey Calibration And All!!!!

My point is that in my level menu I have 2db for my front left and 2.5 in my center but when I press the info button in my remote the channel level setting is 9dbs for my fronts and 8db in the center..... I don’t understand why having 2 different levels ? Your opinion ?
what are your surround parameter settings? i cannot find any videos on that.
Great informative video! I do have one additional question...what is your opinion of Cinema EQ with the Denon AVR's? Do you normally leave it On or Off for movies?
I prefer to Off as it will affect the clarity /treble

What if your running two subs....one at the front of the room and one at the back. When u run audessy will it know to differentiate the distances? I would like to try your add 4 ft to the settings.
It really depends on the model of AVR. If it has a separate distance for each subwoofer, 4 feet over room correction value for each sub should work.
If you only have a single distance value for both subs, I would try to put them both up front, run room correction again, and add 4 feet to the subwoofer distance value.
Which subs are you using?

What I have found out is that, when I turn on the Dynamic volume to heavy it helps with the volume but the Subwoofers are is still barely working. With the Dynamic Volume turned to OFF, I have to turn the Main Volume up to almost 60% to 65% to obtain the same output as when I turn the Dynamic volume ON, at 25%. But there is no difference in the subwoofers performance. I have run Audyssey several times trying figure this out. I am literally confused about what has happened do you have any recommendations I am thinking that my A/V receiver could be wearing out, but there might be something I am overlooking.
May i know your EQ settings. Im setting my EQ from my Denon reciever. What would be the best EQ settings? I have Klipsch cornwall iii as my front channel. klipsch Center channel, Klipsch 15" sub and two klipsch sorround sound that makes my 5.1 system. hook up to a denon 11.1 channel reciever with 135watts per channel. Please help me what should be my EQ settings im not happy with the audyssey setting so i do it all manual.
Very informative. Thanks for the great video.
Leave compression to off on your bluray player.
Compression is rarely a good thing, good point!

Lfe+main is just extra bass👍
thank you sir this is the useful for music lovers
My tv won’t work today I can’t get my denon to stay on Main zone where it needs to be ?
Any ideas?
I know I'm probably just in time, but it would be best to reach out to Denon directly.
Sometimes when a different zone is selected, it really plays havoc with getting everything to work right.
Actually a great idea, but thank God I figured out to just unplug EVERYTHING and start over. It reset it.
Thanks for answering me though.
I may need to do that next time ya never know.
What's your setup sud gain and avr what mode are you using Dolby surround or dts neural x
My opinion
@@Slyder695 you like me I mostly use dts neural x,if not Dolby surround on Netflix dolby digital + ,on the denon what kind of subwoofers you have ,
I watched saving private ryan last night on a 4k disc and man these subs kick hard you can feel the air pressure if you turn them up loud enough but that won't be necessary, gonna watch midway sometime today in 4k ,but that saving private Ryan is awesome with the explosive scene ,sound like bullets are going everywhere that is if you have a good surround system, I have svs elevation speakers two sets and they do a fantastic job with Dolby atmos

Hola!!! Como hacer el menu del Denon transparante???
Nice informative video
Thank you!
I don't have a Subwoofer distance setting in my AVR, what should i do?
I am planning to buy the PB-1000, and idk if it is going to be good with my AVR.
My AVR is Sony STR-DE445
buy a denon lol
Ive been looking for the video you made a while back, where you explain how to set the audio delay using the eagles farewell 1 concert but couldn't find it. Can you link the video please? :)
Here you go!
th-cam.com/video/RNxckQQMlXY/w-d-xo.html
@@Subwoofer101 thanks, yes seems you were on the right track. At audio delay 145 now and it seems pretty accurate. At first i went to 50 but felt it got worse so went back to 25, for fun i thought id try going to 130 just to see and im very glad i did :)
@@Subwoofer101 hello, before I do this I have a question I have a denon avr6400h reciever and dual pb2000 pros would it be ok if I set my avr trim -12 and sub gain at 1
@@MattiasSjosten are you saying you adjust your volume up to 130 what exactly does that do does it make a difference
Waymon, as much as I like a heavy bass tone, I think turning the sub gain that high would be excessive.
I'd stick with -11.5 on the AVR, and between -10 and -16 on the PB-2000 Pro's. These are pretty potent and I imagine the bass would be to heavy at -1 through -9 on the subwoofer gain.
And we are talking about lipsync delay, to get the sound in time with the video.
Lastly, sometimes I miss the replies, so if you start an original comment, I'm more likely to see it. It's the way TH-cam is set up, I miss a lot of comments because of that.

Adjusting speaker distance also helps with the lip sync issue. You cannot delay the video!!!
