  • Is Football Getting Boring?
If you got to watch football in the 90s and early 2000s, then you’re one of the really lucky ones, because these days, football seems to be losing everything that made it so entertaining back then. This might be difficult for many to accept because of how much love they have for the game, but the fact here is - football is getting boring!

That time the B team A team all were in their primes. How did they manage that?? It's because of the B team. They played excellent in the league cup and La Liga matches. This way the big players Benzema, Ronaldo, Modric and Kroos all got plenty of rest before the big games like UCL. Then they came out all guns blazing and won consecutive 3 UCL trophies.

Unpopular Opinion: The appeal of football began to wane for many when Pep Guardiola assumed the role of Barcelona's head coach. This shift is often exemplified by the memory of Barcelona's dramatic Champions League victory over Chelsea, which left many English fans feeling aggrieved. Personally, as an Italian, I found great joy in Chelsea's triumph in 2012, despite my national allegiance.
One of the reasons for this diminishing allure in modern football is the prevalence of seemingly endless, and at times, seemingly futile, passes. The beautiful game's essence has seemingly eroded as a result. The elegance of simplicity and the thrill of well-executed, direct play have been overshadowed by an overabundance of possession-oriented tactics.
Moreover, a sense of predictability has settled over the sport. A select few top-tier teams consistently dominate the competition year after year, rendering the outcome almost predetermined. This creates an atmosphere of monotony, where fans often anticipate the same teams reaching the pinnacle of success. This lack of diversity in champions can detract from the excitement and unpredictability that once defined football's magic.
In conclusion, the perception that football has lost its charm due to these factors is indeed an unpopular opinion, but it reflects the sentiments of many who long for the days when the sport was celebrated for its diversity, simplicity, and the sheer unpredictability of each match.

Now on every team, there are same type of robotic players with similar qualities as if they were made in a lab. Teams are usually made up of thin, athletic build players who run fast back and forth and that's it. The amount of money they're paid is insane. If, for example, Ruud Van Nistelrooy played now, he'd be worth over 500 million euros.

  • @MihailParshin
    @MihailParshin ปีที่แล้ว +61

It is getting boring really. And there is also another thing. Back in the day you had multiple clubs that were almost equal and so lot of fighting for title races. Now, at the very best, you have only 3 teams in the league, a lot of leagues are even 1 horse races. And even in CL the reality is that every year there are about 5 favourites who can win it, while the others are just competing and maybe making 1 miracle, but have no chance to win it. Some clubs are getting rediculously rich and killing all competition.
And you´re very right about the fouls and penalties. Every touch nowadays is penalty. No matter if its just a touch on the arm. And all those divings are just killing it for me. It has gotten to the point that I can´t even celebrate my favourite team if they are doing it. Not to mention all the corrupt teams or even FIFA themselfs. Corruption here, corruption there, FFP for one, but not for other.
It has become a business at this point. I´m not even sure how many of the winners in those last years are legitimate and how many won unfair. Every year there is scandal for at least 2-3 big teams and not to mention all those penalties for Argentina or red cards/penalties in Barca matches till about 10 years ago or those Real Madrid offside goals in CL in the 3 in row campaign and so on. They aren´t even hiding it sometimes. Just streight into your face are backing a team or name and then blame you for hater because you can´t accept their double standards.

@261i7 That's only because new and new people in 3rd world are having opportunities to watch it(while back in the day they couldn't) and also with the always growing number of people in the world.
Everything that is popular now is always with bigger numbers than it has ever been before. But that doesn't change the fact that some of those just become boring for some people.
For me football is boring since I became teenager. I don't have that sheep mentality to be with million other people, looking at something that I can't change or interfere, and be glad that 'my' team won. Meanwhile I don't get any credit, medals/trophies/money or whatever for 'helping' them win matches or trophies.

For me, yes, football is getting boring. Even if you take El Clasico. It used to be the most important match in football. It was interesting to watch the confrontation between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Messi and Ronaldo. "El Classico of the Gods". And now it's not like that. Also, many clubs often change coaches and players if they do not immediately show the result. They should try to build long-term projects. And then every season there will be a new coach and a new line-up. And if they lose a few matches, then again they will be changed. We need a balance. Yes, the game is boring. I already miss the old matches and the old atmosphere...

Ronaldinho would have been playing for some mediocre club that would want him to sell tickets but the big teams would be saying he's "inefficient"... to be allowed to be inventive and innovating in football nowadays you need to be Messi... but newsflash, Messi is the most talented footballer of the last 100 years... so yeah, good luck with that...
I'm gonna say this... Guardiola is one of the best coaches of all time but without knowing it he RUINED football... his Barcelona was a blessing to watch but after that everyone started looking at analytics and overanalyzing everything, telling players to "make the right pass" ever time and never think for themselves...
And of course nowadays the game is played by actors and not professional footballers... seriously... every game has a penalty called and 99% of them are bullshit calls... players nowadays actually aim for the defenders arms to get a penalty because it's easier than actually scoring a goal... it's become THAT sad...

This is why the MLS is becoming so attractive. DP/salary cap rule allows very good strikers to play against subpar defensive players. It makes for a entertaining game with many fast counter attacks. Playing from the backline doesn't work in the MLS, your advantage is pushing vertical. 10 million dollar offensive player vs 80k defensive player. If you don't believe me, please watch the LAFC vs Galaxy game. Fun Fun Fun Fun..aka "El Traffico"...look at the Inter Miami salary roster, it will shock you. Keep in mind most MLS teams are structured like this. All the money is spent on the front line, leaving only 60k - 100k to make up the back line. No joke here.

Otherwise when I’m watching games on TV and they show the closeup footage and replays but the referee still makes a bad decision it ruins the game for me. Also for Offsides the tiny, minuscule offside is annoying. They should make it that it’s not offside if the player’s foot isn’t planted. The biggest problem is the box the refs go to, we just need Video Assistant Refs and those in every game.

Everything in this video is facts, but also the play and meta of football too. Possession ball has sapped the fun out of watching a game. Watching 20-40 passes before a muffed shot or a deflected shot out for a corner has ruined the enjoyment. Guardiola started it with Barca, with the Tiki Taka, but that was with arguably the best club team in history, and now everyone tries to do it and it's not fun to watch. So.........much.........passing and so little shooting. All the back passing and passes through the defense is just mind numbingly boring. There's no more risks in the game and the very rare occasions of fast end to end play don't quite make up for slow build up play all the time.

I have watched football for well over 60 years and the game has changed but it’s easy to think it was better in the past. Decades ago there were extremely skilful players who couldn’t get into the England team because they didn’t fit the system and kick and run football was common even in the top division. I nearly stopped watching many years ago because too many games, even finals were decided on refereeing mistakes. There will always be problems but to me the biggest ones currently are feigning injury especially being hit in the face and diving in the area with even the most blatant not being punished. Then of course there is the VAR issue. VAR simply provides information, it’s the officials that make the decisions and the system is not used as effectively as it should be. That’s down to the FA and some ludicrously bad officials. As far as handball is concerned it is a difficult one but when a handball is indisputably unintentional it is farcical to give a penalty. There are even different interpretations in the English league and in Europe. There are great games to watch and boring games and that will always be the case but I wouldn’t say that football was wonderful and is now boring although there is now so much on TV that perhaps the excitement of watching a live game is not what it was.

I've been watching football since the 90s and early 2000s and trust me on this the football was objectively better than what I'm seeing today. Gone are the days of playing with a smile and showing the world what a true baller is without mind blowing stats. It's now pace merchants and stat merchants exposing their weaknesses and they have more weaknesses than ever. Players like Bruno Fernandes wouldn't even be considered good during the Ronaldinho and Zidane era since his all round game is pitiful but because of his stats half of the Manchester United fans claims he's a baller and the team must be built around him to win the Premier League title and the Champions League. The #10s are obsolete and game changers are replaced with hipsters and stat merchants. Let's not forget, modern fans are brainwashed to believe failure is okay and it's more prominent in the Premier League than in other leagues. Real Madrid fans and Barcelona fans won't tolerate mediocrity at all. Social media is cancer and you have unhinged fans attacking the players and managers on anything else but their performances and some become apologists to the players and managers and blames everything and everyone but their favourites. That's why football today makes me sick with overrating trash players and managers, fans that accepts mediocrity, the PR spin of failure and mediocrity and social media becoming more cancerous than ever and praising cancerous players.

if 90 minutes is too much cricket should have died completely. especially test cricket which is 5 days

Referees running several meters towards the corner of the pitch to watch a replay for 5 secs and come back running again only to give the wrong verdict 😭

I can understand protecting the players, but futbol is a contact sport, the rules will have the players wearing protective gear like American football, now the keepers can’t do anything or say anything to the penalty kickers? 😩😩😩VAR is ridiculous I get the goal line technology but that’s where I draw the line,

    this is sooo true,
nowadays because of the stupid slipups of VAR, players will always dive when in the box.
Football is so boring now, the only thing the players care about now is their stats,
no flair, and when the players do show FLAIR, they are put under hot water by the media. Lucas Paqueta, Neymar, Antony, Richarlison, Mudryk. Getting a yellow for doing freestyle skills like rainbow flicks, kickups, head stalls, seal dribbles, chest stalls, neck stalls, its STUPID, I guess.
YOU CANT EVEN TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT, because of how football has been ruined by marketing and advertising.
Now even a shoulder to shoulder barge is a foul, thats crazy.
Also, how can keepers stay on the line, not taunt or play mind games, and be expected to save it.
What can be considered a foul now, even a light touch on the back is a mf foul. What?
Snoods and beanies were banned, FIFA saying that theyre dangerous, bruh
*HIW TF IS A SNOOD OR BEANIE DANGEROUS*
And now, every federation in football is corrupt, take the World Cup for example, every single FIFA competition is rigged one way or another, its sickening, illegal and hidden wardrobe deals are always made. Santos, Barça, Argentina, South Korea and Japan, all intertwined with CORRUPT HIDDEN AGREEMENTS.
My simple answer, YES. WE'VE RUINED THE ORIGINAL FUN OF FOOTBALL.

i personally wanted mudryk to get an assist or a goal somehow just so the trolling could stop(I'm not even a chelsea fan). nowadays people only focus on scorelines and fail to enoy the beauty of the sport. and the oil clubs, oh my, the OIL CLUBSSSS
