Hello Adam, thank you for the wealth of knowledge that you share. Can you help me understand the difference between the long down and short down on the babies? Thank you!
Everytime I think I’ve figured everything out about pigeon pair bonding behavior something totally unexpected gets thrown my way, that is the first time I’ve ever seen two pigeons sitting together on a nest at the same time.
Cheers mate, leave your number in the letterbox if you like and I'll give you a call. I'll be at work for the rest of the week but I'll come around on the weekend.
How cold did get? Because I live Minnesota and it got down -36 Degrees below zero. And all my babies made it just find. Because I start breeding in January through March and January and February are the coldest months of the year.
It got down to about 32F (0.5C), but I had 3 or 4 eggs in the nest at once because losing the red pair but trying to save their eggs messed everything up.
It gets Coldddd in Canada too, not Minnesota cold. I start my birds breeding early jan by giving longer light hours and some infrared heat. No more babies!! too stinky. So glad when its done(is it ever)?! I want to show you this giant red baby I have..im still trying to get a yellow bar pattern. I may be a few steps closer. Only time will tell. Or possibly you can tell. You may be the only one who knows or at least one of a few who know about these crazy colorful chromosomes. Thanks for providing great info, Adam.
Hello, I really like your pigeons. I was thinking about crossing blondinette with homer but I don't know what to expect. Will the F1 offspring show toy stencil and frill stencil or I'll have to cross them back to blondinette. My goal is to produce racing homers with that color so I want to pair the crosses with homers.
Hi, unfortunately the stencil genes are quite complicated and as I don't often work with them I don't know the answers off the top of my head. I'd recommend joining the Genetics for Pigeons Facebook group 👍
What's the difference between faded and dilute? Are they the same thing because I have a male that is most likely a faded from pictures I've seen and I thought it was a dilute so is there a difference between them?
They're actually entirely different, the only thing they have in common is they're both found on the Z chromosome. Faded is an allele of Stipper (almond).
@Legendary Brah786 masha Allah, can u explain how to get the white? Pairing red pigeon only produce red babies! SO how can I get white tail ,red babies??
I feel sorry that you lost the almond baby But you cant cant talk to the wheater to come next week You will sure get one the next round of eggs With the grizzle baby im also sorry for him But its better that he died becaus he would of had a terrible life
Yea unfortunately these things happen when breeding animals. The little grizzle had an underdeveloped abdomen and a swollen rear - definitely wasn't meant to make it. I'll breed more almonds in the future though, my hen is young :)
@@AdamArcherPigeons Its funny the thing that your chicks die of cold and mine die of heat I lost 2 hatching nest mates because it was very hot and they suffocated
00:00 haha they're so funny/cute the way they stare at you / at the camera. look at their faces!!
I recently found the channel and I really liked it so I subscribed

The cock was once paired with another cock... so I think he still kinda thinks he is a hen. He sits in the bowl overnight with the hen too.
It's to balance out that feisty hen Kurt has sitting by herself ;-)
Does look cute though those two sat together
Lol.😂😂😂
But all kidding aside Adam those are two very Good Tiger Grizzle specimens you got there.
Yea they're great. My friend spent good money on them and was kind enough to loan them to me so I can have a pair.
Nice pigeon
Thanks!
Very nice birds!
the nose on that black bird
Everyone thinks he's a crossbred because they've never seen what an old pigeon looks like...
Nice birds,..
Thank you!
Sorry to hear the winter weather was harsh on the little ones.
What is the genes in the first white pigeon that is in the video? Grizzle? I have a pigeon that looks almost the same.
hello sir new subscriber from philippines 😊
Hi Adam the white hen laid only 1 egg first time ever so I can give you the round that's ready now

@@AdamArcherPigeons thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't use Facebook.
I lost some youngsters over the weekend also as is was so cold.
Yea it was a real shame
Adam I have a really weird color pigeon and I’m wondering if you could help me figure out the color
I have a Patreon and Discord where you can post pics, otherwise there are a few Facebook genetics groups.

I need to know , is it possible to get red pigeon with white tail?? I have seen some pigeons have white tail only but the parents are RED..

You seem to lose a lot of babies pigeons. Could it be that you mess with them too much? Just asking.
This is an old video, breeding in winter. When its warmer, and I don't have to use small boxes the success rate is much higher.
sad when that happens the cold so strong kills them the babies 🥺🥺
Yes it was a real shame 😥
👍👍👍
Please start uploading long videos.
Once I move house I will 👍
