Hi mate I went ebike in April, best thing I ever did . Been mtb for twenty years and the start of this year I was getting fed up with 20 minutes of climbing for 1 to 2 minutes of desending ! Now I fly to the top and then straight back down increasing more fun time plus the ebike performes like a downhill bike without the downsides !
Nice to see someone riding the ebike as you normally wouldn't and give your honest opinion I ride a Haibike and I love it did have a nasty accident in May this year on my previous ebike but I'm slowly getting my confidence back and I think I may book Rogate bike park as it seems a really great place to ride and build my confidence. I really like your rides and watching your videos, bet you get the ebike bug now and get one!! 😎😎
I have only just been riding since February this year....started on a Whyte 150rs and it's probably what has kept me riding....I have also now got a Juliana furtardo pedal bike because I want to get fitter in myself but I switch between both but if I could only have one bike it would be my e bike as it just does everything and my progression has been awesome. Great Vid 👍
You said it well. Ebs have their place. Just like any other kind of bike. I live mine for what I can do on it and love you three manual bikes. Horses for courses. Smiles and fun are the main thing 🤙🤙🤙
Ive started a pot of savings for one for my 45th. (2yrs). Idea then is to have the emtb as the main bike and a couple of super light retro 90s mtbs for gravel.
Nice vid Mike! I currently ride an mtb and an ebike. I've had my Levo for about a year now and absolutely love it. I still cant decide which one Id choose if I could only have one, as they both have their pros and cons but I think the best thing about the ebike is how you can still have so much fun on the more tame, pedally trails, whereas my enduro bike is always begging for gnarly stuff to get the most out of it. And strangely Im more confident on steep tech trails on my ebike now than I am on the trail bike because its so stable and planted with the extra weight. I think we will reach 'herd acceptance' soon when more people realise just how knackered you are after a few hours riding one because you don't stop for breaks as much and pedal flat out up every climb rather than winch along in an easy gear. Cool to see you giving it a proper thrashing anyway dude! Such a fun bike hey!
Was at rogate just the other day on my bros ebike. Smashed 17 laps in super quick. But it took all 17 to get used to the weight. So damn heavy. I want one.....but next to my ransom. Unless new battery tech brings them to sub 16kg and affordable ;)
I bought a Whyte e150rs earlier in the year and it is just the business. Took a bit of time to adjust to the weight and inertia but its so good and so capable. Jumps really nicely for a heavy bike, more momentum into the jump and beautifully balanced in the air. Still ride my old Santa Cruz but the ebike really is the dream its made climbing fun again and I can get more miles in with more fun in the same time. I went with a 27.5 as coming from a 26" the 29er's feel like boats, 27.5 much more nimble. You should have a go - I'd like to come riding with your group but will have to dust off the facebook account...
Your comment re inertia - exactly it. I tested a few and now have one - not got it out yet. But I remember from testing, that you need a little more stopping time on the steeps!
Glad to see you enjoyed it Mike. I'm very lucky to have both an eBike (Levo) and an enduro bike and I love both. I go further for longer on the eBike simple as that, and you can do as much fitness as you want. You always have the option to turn the assistance off or right down on an eBike, you don't have the choice on a regular bike. But enduro bike is great fun, better at the bike parks for sure, and just different. Like you said, has it's place and don't knock it if never tried it.
I don't own an ebb bike but if it keeps people riding and there enjoying the fun which mtb is all about then why not and as you say Mike its pedal assist so you can put in as much effort as your comfy doing. great video once again
Totally agree. I never cared to much about peoples opinions when buying things. If you want it you're doing it for yourself. Who cares what others think 👍👍
I keep getting called Cheater on my Hardtail Ebike got my one in Early 50’s as body warm out to ride Normal MTB you should had tow rope to a friend back up good have Spare battery
Had a hire one exactly the same from Beics y Brenin not long back, definitely made a difference on the climbs and I enjoyed it . It did make me feel a bit more middle aged than I already am tbh ,also made me feel a bit disconnected from my environment (got the same feeling when I use to ride a motorcycle) I also reckon you can lose your fitness very quickly if you use one all the time .I feel a lot more confident descending on my normal bike tbh I can see the appeal though the bike parks are flooded with them these days Maybe when I hit the big Five Oh (2yrs)I may look into purchasing one ,I should be ready for my mid life crisis then 😂
Mike's MTB Adventures I am currently sat on the fence and the indecision is the only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on one. I bought a Scott spark earlier this year and if I had my time again I would have spent differently.
@@MikesMTBAdventures exactly this, knock it into Eco and it feels like a Dinosaur bike anyway and your back to blowing out your rear end chugging the extra weight up!
What an experience. Now I want one 😂👌😂👌
I cannot WAIT to get my dirty mitts on an E-Bike. Rode a Commencal in Jonkershoek South Africa earlier this year with my wife and we BOTH had a blast.

Awesome mate. Its amazing what the ebike market does for people. Its a positive thing thats for sure 👍👍

Great to see the comparison Mike, I'm looking at one if these for this time next year... Would have to sell the Stanton though which would be sad
Did i see it up for sale recently. Looked like yours anyway
@@MikesMTBAdventures god no, it won't be till next year, it's gonna hurt to sell it

Totally get what you're saying bud. Got another edit coming soon that covers this also
Would like to know what you thought to the Levo SL. Looks like it’s a good halfway house.
Ill be testing the sl in the next couple of week. So an edit will follow soon 👍👍👌

@@Kaedo9 i know the feeling bud
I was at cannock during the week and kept having people blow past me on the ups. But I don't know, I do this for fitness as much as fun I guess!
Im the same to be honest. That said i doubled the amount of trail time. More fun, double the trails and good fitness still
