This proves a few things I learned about party/club DJing long time ago 1 - play popular music, their music. 2 - (optionally) work on transition 3 - have fun People at clubs are most likely inebebriated, having fun and wants to dance.
As a gay Metalhead, I can 100% confirm. At gay parties they play the same music as in all those mainstream clubs that I would never ever go to and I often don't find a beat with stuff, so I can't dance to it. So because I don't feel 99% of the music they play, I always go absolutely wild when they play a song that would normally make me cringe to death. Like I may hate this song, but at least I know it! So yeah, I'd rather hear effin Barbie Girl or even Justin Bieber, than some shit I don't know.
Having been placed on hold with CVS multiple times, I'm astounded to learn some companies play hit songs and not just random instrumentals that sound like they were recorded on a brick and played back on a frequency that would make dogs howl.
A bit off brand for you but I like it. Can't wait for you to have millions of subs and we can start saying "remember when Max Fosh used to do only Street Smart?"
Its a little known trick to slip in tracks from adverts and whatnot. They’re the earwig tracks that your brain subconsciously picks up but doesn’t complete, or even fully register, but when they come on, you switch on to them. Works a treat.

I used to work for a company that made these on hold compilations, and I’d have to actually make these calls as my job and ask to be put on hold - people either thought it was funny, or thought I was running some sort of scam and called their manager 😂.

I've once called IKEA and was on hold for so long that I've discovered that they have a thing for ABBA and Queen. If you call them and get put on hold you'll see that they always play an ABBA song (always Mamma Mia first), followed by a Queen song (probably Bohemian Rhapsody), followed by another ABBA song and the cycle goes on forever in that exact order until they pick up again, some songs even repeat. I was on hold for a total of about 6 songs (3 of each, some were long ones too) or maybe even more, I was there for so long that I could have lost track after the 6th song

If it's anything like being in a band, you can get a gig fairly easily by getting in touch with a promoter and giving them dates. We had gig without even providing a demo.

Yeah there is bpm readouts, beat grids and auto syncing which I do use now (it's a technology that's created for a purpose so fuck it I'm using it) but what sets djs apart is tune selection, knowing the tracks inside out , crowd reading.... defining "dj" by beatmatching ability alone is missing the point. Imagine a dj with the best beatmatching skills out there but nothing else to offer?
When all the London clubs are playing wankery house music, I would probably have had a much better time listening to your set. It would have actually been a fun night out.

99% of DJs aren’t actually DJing nowadays....they are cue and play merchants. DJing is beat matching with vinyl and no bpm aids.
