Oh wow! So close! Good luck on the Psych NP journey! I hope the interview template and “how to” interview videos are helpful for you too!

Was there any patients you just wanted to give a hug?

Sometimes yes! But it’s actually considered unprofessional in psychiatry to do that. We don’t want to ever give the wrong impression to patients, especially because patients share such deep and personal information with us

It’s kind of a long one but I’m in community college getting my A.A.S. in nursing and then going to apply to an RN-BSN. After maybe a year or more I wanted to apply for med school. Ignoring prerequisites and for all intents and purposes my grades are good would I get accepted anywhere? 😅

Haha great question! Medical school continues to get more and more competitive, but clinical experience as a nurse would certainly help make you an even better doctor!!

Hello I am a freshman Psych B.S. in St.Louis and am thinking about going on the premed track to pursue psychiatry. However, I never shadowed a psychiatrist. Can you show us what a day or two in your life looks like? Also what should I be doing now as a freshman who has done dual enrollment in high school?

hi there! great questions! I have a video about what the first week of attending life was like. It's hard to show the details due to the importance of protecting patient privacy. I have some other videos though wher you get snippets of the day to day!
And as a college student, your main focuses should be 1) have fun, but not too much! 2) get good grades to make you competitive for medical school 3) discover what your passions are through trial and error!
      Hope that helps :)

I am at a point in med school where i have to decide which speciality i have to choose,i like psychiatry from every aspect,i like to study how people operate,
The largest fear that is keeping me away is projection of patient's feelings on me,sometimes my eyes are full of tears even after watching a few seconds of an emotional advertisement😟

This is SUCH an important point. Funny thing is, I’m like that too in many ways. Over the course of my training, I’ve learned how to care deeply for my patients without taking on the emotions personally. It’s possible! Would you be interested in a video where I talk about that more?!
