      GumGumNuke - If you manage to see this then here is some advice: If you have the money eat at least 3 meals a day with a protein shake and work out lots. The more protein and working out, the bigger you will get.

      Narrow grip is the best for performance! Wide grip is bullshit in that case. It would just increase the risk of an rotator cuff injurie. Thats it.

      Unless you have longer arms.... narrow grip helps geberate more power from thw triceps, but increases rom considerably, if they just took a slightly wider grip it would shorten the rom, therefore requiring less work to be done to complete a rep while not affecting power too much.

      This is exactly why people have the misconception that lifting weights is bad for you... If you get to this level of strength with this level of shit form, you better believe you'll have some long term joint/tendon issues and be in a lot of pain down the road. Really sad to see to be honest

This was painful to watch, not because they couldn’t bench a lot of weight, but because of how bad they are at the motion

    These guys are strong; people will always find something to hate on. Their form isn't the best, but it's a competition for rep count, hence the strategy.
    We don't typically lift that much for hockey; the sport requires that we're more flexible, so our big guys are benching 225 to 250 and still have relatively thin frames. I'm only 205 pounds and never pushed to bench more than 215.

      Actually, good form prevents injuries and speeds results. Their coaches have really done them a disservice by not teaching them better. Also, if their coaches/parents have encouraged them to get that fat in the mistaken hope that it will make them better at football, they have put their health at risk.

      Football players work on cleans - power cleans, hang cleans and squat cleans. I've never seen them work on snatches or clean and jerks (the two olympic lifts, as both require competent coaching and meticulous form). Players DO include squats and deadlifts, two lifts that are part of power lifting and great for overall functional strength.

There's only so much time alotted when there's so much other stuff that needs to be focused on to prepare your players, especially in high school. And they're not just fat, they have plenty of muscle. Just because they're not lean and super ripped doesn't mean they're unhealthy and unconditioned.

      There is a difference in power lifting & athletic training you dumbass. These kids are the best in the nation in high school football. They aren't going to have a Eric spoto form or any power lifters form. Some might. But in sports you train for speed. That's the name of the game now is speed. All these "men" would whip ur ass. They are all going to college for free. They could care less what you say about them bench pressing. Ur opinion doesn't matter. People that usually that say something about someone's form can't bench as much as them. So they make up something negative towards them. I'm a strength & conditioning coach. I've seen it for 15 years now

Some advice arch the back, place feet a near your waist, grip the bar in a way that your sort of attempting to bend the bar even though your not lol (helps to decrease elbow flare and to assist in keeping the back tight) push into the lats, retract those lats, reduce elbow flare, follow the right bar path and right when the bar hits your sternum immediately activate leg drive and power through. So much more to the bench press lol either look up on TH-cam, ask a competitive powerlifter or ask someone for advice who you see doing these techniques in their bench press properly.

    My max for 225lbs is 10 reps at 165-170lbs, but that's only because I specifically work on my power and strength lifting. These kids are insanely strong for their age, and in college when they learn better form, there is no doubt that these kids will be able to push for 30+ reps. Impressive lifting

    If any of you knew, a lockout on bench is actually terrible on your elbows. So yes they did do full reps. Even bodybuilders and strongmen have the same form. So before you say they had no form do some research
