When i visited grand canyon in 1981, there were names displayed on a board stating Indian God's names like Shiva, Vishnu etc to different rock formations. Ganesha avenue was name of a major road in Los Angeles downtown. After a few years they changed all these names , may be due to too much inquiry by newly migrated people from India

This civilisation is very ancient, thousands of years prior to Goutama Bhudha. The statue is of Lord Shiva. In ancient Indian texts this area is referred as Pathal.
Bruh, no offence but you're the one being blind here. There's no way he's Buddha. There's not a single Buddha statue in the world where he's sitting with both hand on his thighs facing upwards, in all his statues either his both or one hand is placed on his lap. Also another thing is, in all his statues his Left shoulder is always covered with cloth, but in this statue it's open and right one is covered instead. You're either new to Buddhism or poorly informed with half baked knowledge. I'm not saying he's Shiva, maybe he's not. But he's definitely not Buddha.
Some top of the mountains in the Grand Canyon are named after the Devtas like Krishna, Shiva, Ganesh, Vishnu etc. The resemblance of the Maya temples have same shape as Tamil and Egypt temples.
