I really like the look of the KTM bikes. That may not be the popular opinion with everyone, but when you see them in person, they look great to my eyes!
Excellent review & ergo dream machine. I wish the KTM 1190 and 1290 had a 17” wheel option like the Pikes Peak. This SMT is beautifully similar: only down on power and range. Can absolutely lean these bikes with the foot-pegs being up so high. WP suspension is also very very good. These adv & sm bikes are a tad ugly until one experiences them imo.
Very cool bike and I would love to have one.... but I dont see a Supermoto here... take the beak off and it's an upright sport bike like a Ninja 650-R or Z900. I like the beak, but I really don't see use for it on this bike except for looks (and to catch wind) You mentioned Verseys 650. I can see that. Again great bike, and I would be proud to have it.
Yeah. It's interesting. To you and me, it's a sport tourer, to others who really get this bike and want to get aggressive, it's a sport tourer with an electronics package that allows it to so supermoto type things. It's versatile, but still very focused. I'm a fan, even if I probably wouldn't make use of much of the supermoto stuff other than the goof around a few times.
Yeah, that's an interesting style decision. A nod to the Super Moto class. I wonder if that hurts it to the Sport Touring class. It wouldn't stop me from buying it. I think this bike is just awesome!
On paper this is like my perfect bike. It will probably be my next bike. Unfortunately I have a nagging worry of the all too common pre mature cam lobe wear when you get around 15-20k miles that the other 890 motor bikes are plagued with. Idk what to do! 😭😂
@PeterLoweOne alright well pick your favorite 890 forum. Issues documented by owners in every place they congregate. I realize you're trying to sell bikes so you're not gonna acknowledge known issues (typical KTM dealer 😂) but if you were to look into it even a little bit you'd probably change your tune. Or maybe you wouldn't. You probably already know all about it and your dealership has probably denied a handful of warranty claims for it already.
@@nwmotog I don't work for the dealer. I'm literally sharing my honest opinion. I'm actively looking at getting a KTM because I'm actually not worried about reliability. Don't believe me? Subscribe to my channel, you may very well see me driving my own KTM this summer. It's fine by me if you don't have faith in the brand. I do.
I still film there! I have pretty much the entire 2023 lineup filmed there, so I'll be grabbing every 2024 that comes in as they arrive. I did the ZX-4RR not too long ago, I believe they have a KLR ready to be filmed soon. I'll definitely continue to film with them. They're awesome!
The old 990 smt was one of the best do-it-all motorcycles of all time. SO glad it's back.
This is a very focused motorcycle. It could be quite versatile to fit a lot of people... But for those who get it... There's nothing else like it.
Great review. I think that every review I've seen of the KTM 790s and 890s includes the workd "fun"....puts them on my shortlist immediately.
KTM seems to engineer in fun to virtually everything they make, but this bike is where they go all out on the fun!
Cool bike review, thanks. Those orange rims are really nice in my opinion with the orange highlights of the bike. Nice features here.

You give an excellent review!
Hi Peter
Hope you have a good new year.
Thanks for all the reviews
Thanks for your unwavering support! Happy New Year to you and your family as well!

It looks like a blast. I wonder what a two up would be like on a long trip.

It looks better with the complete low black front tire fender. The high dirt bike style fender looks odd.

What are the additional cost for the software such as heated grips and seat?

Honestly, I'm not worried about modern KTM engines. 🤷♂️
I hear good things about them in recent years.
@@PeterLoweOne just Google ktm 890 cam lobe. I think it's a concern with plenty of merit.
@@nwmotog I've been in the auto industry for a LONG time. Google is rarely your friend when it comes to issues on vehicles. 😉

I feel like the only similar bike out there this far has been the Ducati Hyper Motard
Yeah, probably. This is definitely unique.
What happened to Jim gilbert?

Avoid it at all cost, HEAT ENGINE is a big issue
