any form of identity is to some degree duality. even to identify as sikh is to seperate yourself into a category which differentiates you from other religions.
the concept of protecting others by carrying weapons exists as part of kshatriya dharma, and concept of feeding others and community kitchen type things were already common before langar was created both at Mandirs and some Sufi temples.
he converted willingly, Guru Ji never told him that he needs to convert, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji himself was blown away by how amazing Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was and chose to convert.
