    Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's wisdom never ceases to amaze. Thank you for this Khata.

    Pride, throughout my life. I have made great achievements. Have received loads of recognition and attention. And not once did I talk about it. Not once did I brag, boast about what I did.
    Joy is a byproduct of fulfilment.

      The Turbanator why do you put vaheguru instead of waheguru? Sorry im trying to understand because lot of people do the same thing.

    • @TheTurbanatore
      @TheTurbanatore 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rgssquad901 because it's spelled with a V instead of a W.

    • @Absilon13
      @Absilon13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Turbanator not exactly,it is spelled with W as the sound of two V’s opening up broadly.V goes like volks while W goes like walks and pronunciation of waheguru is broadly like waah e guru.

    Thank you veer ji for your explanation. I’ve been confused by the concept of ego for a long time now. It seems that what Guru Granth Sahib ji is saying as a whole, boils down to the ego. I may be wrong. I still have many questions and confusions. I hope that I will find my answers in the future.

    FYI: Ahaṃkāra (अहंकार) is a Sanskrit term that is related to the ego and egoism - that is, the identification or attachment of one's ego. The term "ahamkara" comes from an approximately 3,000-year-old Vedic philosophy, where Ahaṃ is the Self or "I" and kāra is "any created thing" or "to do". The term originated in Vedic philosophy over 3,000 years ago, and was later incorporated into Hindu philosophy, particularly Saṃkhyā philosophy.[Wikipedia].
    If we consider the sanskirt origin of the Gurmukhi word Hankaar, then it can be suitable to translate it as "ego". By translating the Hankaar/Ahamkara as "ego" then we see the interplay between the "I as the doer" and "Creator that does" or Karta Purakh. This all gets played out in sansar (Gurmukhi) or samsara (Sanskrit) where the Ahamkara is lost in the illusion of permanence in sansar and is unaware of Karta Purakh.
    Abhimaan is more accurately translated as "pride" although it has been used as "ego" as well.
    Above all, when translating Gurbani, it is good to have a solid grasp of the context of the text to accurately define key words.
    Give me a shout if your in Surrey BC, would love to chat with you folks.

    The most difficult part of EGO, is to get the whole platform of the Universal Mind to be surrendered.. that the reason why we must start picking up the NAMES, when human birth is given

    Ego meaning in sikhism is very vast..
    Ego separates you from God, and pain n sufferings n deaths carries on... Naam takes the separation away, and freed from cycle of deaths

    The first seven years of a child's life will become as an adult.
    The environment which a child is raised up in, will hold the child in it's beliefs.
    How I was raised can compared to being raised in a Buddhist monastery. And without the use of words. What I learned, I learned through observation of those doing something.
    What I have learned is that a young child lives through what can be learned about by learning what the Buddha taught, what Jesus taught and what is taught in Tao Te Ching.
    Know these three and you will know your true self.

    So I don't understand one hand he says haomei is pointing out if a person doesn't look like the rest, yet we are not considered gursikh if we don't follow the dress code?

  • @Absilon13

    In my views ahankaar and haume both are either ego or selfishness while pride is something different it comes from khudgarzi without any need of help externally.

    if permanent salvation, or mukti, or complete jihad, can just be obtain by reasoning of the intellect of the mind thru thinking process without Naams, then i think even grasshoppers n cockroaches also can earn mukti easily...
    Things are not that easy like what the mind is thinking
