1:17 This is wrong. Whiteclad Noble in game is one of the brothers of Erlang. The figure in TV show is 灵虚子, which is a wolf; in game he is the hanged dead body nearby the third bell. The boss Lingxuzi or 凌虚子 is like a successor of 灵虚子 (you see their name is similar but different in one character).

well for the most part the TV series had also budget restrictions (literally only had ONE camera while filming), and it also had to be family friendly. it's still loyal to the source material, but given the novel is very episodic and sort of lighthearted for the most parts, BMW serves as a sequel to that story, and as a darker alternate universe of the JTTW lore (sort of canon divergent)
The novel is a satire of the real empire. This is a novel set in the Ming Dynasty. On the surface, Journey to the West is about going to India to get the real Buddhist scriptures. Another meaning is that this is a team doing something very difficult. The things they encountered were used to express the dark side of society at that time. In the novel, the team is about to reach the last stop, the Buddhist center, which is on a mountain. Unbelievably, the monsters at the foot of this mountain are very powerful and cruelly slaughter humans. The novel describes a sea of blood and a mountain of corpses. Even Sun Wukong felt creepy.
TV series had a few dark moments and knew when to take things seriously (except for the whole Bull Demon King family thing - sure, it was his fault for leaving his wife for a fox concubine but Wukong and team made it worse by getting his son enslaved by Guanyin and by disrespecting his wife and concubine multiple times. It's no wonder why the Bull is so depressed in the game lmao)

It's a strange feeling to see JttY finally get a huge spotlight on the internet. The Internet connects us and sometimes brings us huge surprises and it's beautiful.
The game is causing me cognitive dissonance. How the characters look from the TV series are what I believed they should look like since childhood, I’m having a hard time adjusting to the game developers’ interpretation. To me, most Yaoguais should look more human form than monsters
Rakshasa is originally a branch of the demon clan, and the game is a true restoration of it. The 1986 TV series was for children and should not scare children, so he did not look like a demon king in 1986.
If someone make a Journey to the west TV show, using modern visual effects, and doesn't deviate from the original novel, how cool would that be? That would be an other Lord of the rings to say the least.

Luckily, the director was very dedicated to the mission of faithfully adapting the story and the cameraman was her husband. It took something like 6 years to make and resulted in many injuries and cast changes. The result is something that exceeds its budget limitations and by far the best cast performances (especially Wukong) out of all the adaptations.
It is a powerful game engine like the Unreal Engine 5 gives the chinese game devs far more creative freedom than the traditional film making technique that allows them to recreate and reinvent the visual of this chinese mythological world. it is a breathe of fresh air on an IP that has hundreds of movies and tv shows already
Damn i thought i was the only one who knew this show existed
My childhood
The actor in the Tv series was a professional artist
It's great. It would be perfect if there were seven spider beauties in the shower.
中国的法律不允许做这种游戏,虽然我也很想玩这种游戏。😂
Australia maybe😂
there's a censorship issue in china so they can't do that type of revealing and explicit images.
The 1986 series was adapted for kids and family. The original was practical, deep, and dark.
The Black Myth Wukong story is rich with references to Journey to the West. Immersive Translate helped me explore these connections in depth.
I would like to bring to the attention of all wakong lovers to look into an old unknown game for the psvita called soul sacrifice. If you loved the lore of wukong you will love that story as well.
Ik new fans are looking at this and am wondering wtf is some of these stuff. But you’d almost have to watch it when it just came out. There’s a reason why this IS the favorite version to JTTW to long time fans, because even though budget is low, they did everything to make it as nice as possible. Lore wise it also as close as it can get to being correct too.
Can someone please tell me what song this is? If you don't know exactly can you at least tell if it's from the video game, tv show, or neither
Chapter3 ending song
This game delivered 💯. I can't wait for the DLC.
where r u from?
This is....this is my childhood right here
1:08 I think that may be a mistake. Whiteclad Noble wasn't a character in original story. The one who was on the other hand is Guangmou which was that snake guy you fight before the Noble.
1:30 Likeweise, actual Tiger Vanguard is guarding the entrance to Fubane Area in Secret Chapter. The blooddrinker is his son
I don't see any differences. Both looks great. :D
I'm more interested in Chinese mythology. There are so many similarities with our culture and Hinduism mythology.
Sorri to bust your bubble but Wu Kong is not mythology he is worshipped and have shrines all across Asia !!! People pray to him for he has become enlightened and became a Buddha !!! So please don't insult his origin by calling mythology !! To many Asian people he truly existed !!
@@tonyawillams9442 At least, Sun Wukong is more commonly recognized as a mythological figure in china.
@@tonyawillams9442 Christianity, Judaism and Islam is also mythology to people who does not believe in any religion. Mythology is a sacred matter, there is no insult using that term. Theology is just mythology that some people believe real.
@@tonyawillams9442 Wu Kong is a documented fictional character created by the author Wu Cheng En. He is not a mythological figure.
@@klovershows3823 Monkey King is based on a true story of a famous monk, Xuan Zang of the Chinese Tang Dynasty (602-664). After a decade of trials and tribulations, he arrived on foot to what is today India, the birthplace of Buddhism. Journey to the West is a fictional story !!! Big difference !!
That music tho in the background 🔥
Journey to the west is one of best Buddhist epic ever written in the history.
Can i have the name of the background theme you’re using?
"Nonsense!" from the Black Myth Wukong OST
1986 series is only series that wukong actually monkey like, pure joy not emo half human like other jttw series, that why i love it
1:17 This is wrong. Whiteclad Noble in game is one of the brothers of Erlang. The figure in TV show is 灵虚子, which is a wolf; in game he is the hanged dead body nearby the third bell. The boss Lingxuzi or 凌虚子 is like a successor of 灵虚子 (you see their name is similar but different in one character).
dude even the game look more realistic than the tv series 😅❤
I still prefer the tv series, it’s just more funny and made lots of peoples day, some characters in the game to me doesn’t really look like how it is supposed to and how they are supposed to act and talk.
You should also showing Bodhisattva Lingji in full mode other than the headless one
thanks for this
I watched that show since I was a kid, and it became my childhood, I know that in the west very few people know about this movie, after learning that the movie was made a long time ago, In 1986, technology was not as developed as it is now, so it could only be done manually or simply, however if you want to understand the game's plot, you should watch the movie to understand better.
Journey to the west have a bunch of iteration my favourite is from 1996 version even after watching all journey to the west even movie that coming out today
Watching the trailers for Black Myth: Wukong, it’s clear this game has a lot of potential.
Hongkonger好搞笑,在每个视频底下找存在感,实际上根本没几个人知道。。。
Tiger vanguard looks cute in tv serie lmao😂
Guess the TV series had lighter tone compare to black myth because damn that game is really dark when you compare it to
well for the most part the TV series had also budget restrictions (literally only had ONE camera while filming), and it also had to be family friendly. it's still loyal to the source material, but given the novel is very episodic and sort of lighthearted for the most parts, BMW serves as a sequel to that story, and as a darker alternate universe of the JTTW lore (sort of canon divergent)
@@李四-z4d and the people who committed wrongs and evil things get away with it because they know powerful people in high places. Like how the demons just get away because they are the mounts of the gods.
so cool thanks
good job!
name of the music?
“Nonsense “
It is one of the song in the cutscene.
屁
We really need one more JTTW adaptation, but darker and more serious, like in game
The novel is not that dark and serious
@@NicoGV the game showed that darker adaptation may work well
@@NicoGV the noval was actually darker and heavier than the game
What's the music called?
th-cam.com/video/zz4DkiJSXxU/w-d-xo.html
What song was used for the?
Nostalgia 😢😭
This stuff is nostalgic, literal masterpiece.
What's the song in the video?
I would like to know the music of the video
其实对于二郎神的形象,大家基本上还是比较认可焦恩俊饰演的。
Journey to the West became a fairy tale in China. It was read to children, so.........
I wish they would acknowledge the 1996 TVB JTTW TV show
Reminder that this is entering jttw and after jttw 500 years later
Koreans gon be hella mad, cuz we be stealing Korean culture, but little did they know, the guy who wrote journey to the west is 500 years older than Korea💀
What does Korea have to do with JTTW
@@NicoGV well, after blackmyth wukong came out, they simply said the arthor of jttw is a Korean, and all the buildings in blackmyth are Korean buildings, like we’re all just here enjoying the game, come on Korea.
@@damian7571 What fucking idiots have you been watching? Ignore them.
Maybe ppl in different cultyure don't know how huge Journey to the West is in China.
Consider a culture with at least a billion ppl and over 400years most of them heard of or watched a version of JttY somewhere when they grow. Think of it as King Arthur or Hercules in China.
It's a strange feeling to see JttY finally get a huge spotlight on the internet. The Internet connects us and sometimes brings us huge surprises and it's beautiful.
Similar vibes to Atomic Heart to post-soviet countries. So, so many references and childhood memories.
damn cheater, he one shotted whiteclad noble
old but gold
Sensacional 😃
1982
The game is causing me cognitive dissonance. How the characters look from the TV series are what I believed they should look like since childhood, I’m having a hard time adjusting to the game developers’ interpretation. To me, most Yaoguais should look more human form than monsters
Red Boy in the game looks like the devil's child.
Rakshasa is originally a branch of the demon clan, and the game is a true restoration of it. The 1986 TV series was for children and should not scare children, so he did not look like a demon king in 1986.
Wukong movies always had its comedy part, but in game it deadly serious!
Be cool if they reboot the series
Which version of this tv series?
1986
If someone make a Journey to the west TV show, using modern visual effects, and doesn't deviate from the original novel, how cool would that be? That would be an other Lord of the rings to say the least.
Kang Jinlong, the goddess of spring in Chinese mythology, represents the beginning of plant growth in spring. When spring comes in China, there will be thunder and rain, so the goddess of spring in the game will be accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Idun, the goddess of spring in Norse mythology, is in charge of spring and golden apples. Her husband is the god of poetry Bragi.
Both goddesses represent spring, but they have their own characteristics. From the perspective of humanities, this is a different understanding of spring by two civilizations.
Of course, I am just popularizing mythology
In Chinese mythology, gods also correspond to the stars in the sky. Kang Jinlong represents the second star of China's Kangxiu, which is a star in the Boötes constellation understood by Europeans and Americans. It is a star in Virgo. The address is this star en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iota_Virginis
theme song ?
Nonsense
I think it may be time for a reboot lol 👀
There've been 3-4 "reboots"'/remakes since 1986. Probably more that I'm not aware of.
Seeing Demon Bull King comparision hurts, guy def ain't the same JTTW, don't blame him tho.
Whiteclad noble is actually one of the sages of mount mei, under Er lang.
