      @2-Stroke Bloke not really, that insurance for a young man would be way higher for no reason, 2drs always cost more. The Charger is considered a sensible 4dr family car, at least with the 2 companies I insured my RT with. My buddies insurance for his Charger SPNB ended up even cheaper than mine's. Mustangs are nice but they're not for everybody

      @jones9309 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      @@mikefranzen It's a big difference when you consider how people drive their Scats / Cats even RT's but if you drive normal you can make a full tank last way longer especially in the 5.7L because you don't have to put premium gas. @@jones9309 you do know that the 5.7 and the 6.4 have the 4cyl mode, in either you can make a tank last for weeks, the hellcats don't have a 4cyl mode due to the injectors being different than the 6.4 and the 5.7. the type of gas means nothing bc I can put 93 in the 5.7 like I used to and you gain nothing out of it besides longevity and cleaner internals. The 6.4 needs it for max performance, I can put 89 in the 6.4 I just won't see as much power at least noticeable power. So far the highest I've gotten per mile is 33mpg from Chicago to Phoenix. When I had my 5.7 the most I got was 29 from Chicago to Arkansas, a hellcat you're getting probably 22 and under bc they have different injectors and don't have the 4cyl mode bc of those injectors

    I too am a Scatpack owner and I think you made a great choice! First the R/T is no slouch! It looks good and sounds great! You obviously are mature enough to make a good decision based on financial common sense. Though I have no problem affording a Hellcat, the maintenance Tires, Brakes etc is a lot more than a Scatpack. For me and how I use my car the extra maintenance is a waste, but that is for my lifestyle. For others its worth it and thats okay for them. I am not modding my scatpack so the money I save goes toward my investments. Being finacially smart with the money you have is very important. You live for you and not for the expectations of others. you did good in that sense. I took out a 36 month loan on my Scatpack and paid it off in 12 months. Remember regardless of what you own there will always be someone else faster. The only thing tht matters is that you enjoy driving your car!

    Excellent video! MANY of the same reasons I bought a new Durango RT, Tow N Go instead of an SRT - BUT..... funny thing is my RT is 95% SRT because of the Tow N Go Package. It has every single part the SRT does except the engine. However, I'm going to install a $10k Whipple 3.0 Supercharger and my RT will have way more power than an SRT 392 and the BEST thing is I'll still have an extra $10k in my pocket over buying a 392 SRT! You are *100%* correct about the 5.7 handling boost better, about up to 14 lbs, whilst the 6.4 only about 9 at most! A new Durango SRT is anywhere from $75 - $85k! My RT Tow N Go with a $10k supercharger costs $65k total.

    I like your honesty, humbleness and point here young man! I am in agreement with you totally. There is something to be said about "built, not bought". Yes, in the end when you add aftermarket parts and tunes it will most likely be in the same ballpark money wise as the scatpack. But, you most likely will be in an area above the scatpack and just below the hellcat. That being said, it will be at your own pace. The thing is, THEN it will truly become your baby. You will have a great hobby and learn A TON about motors and that is priceless! Plus, there is no better feeling than having a sleeper car. Especially when those same scatpacks, 5.0's, camaros and vettes pull up to you then end up getting left scratching their heads when they get gapped. Yes, a lot of people will question doing what you're doing, but one thing you touched on is the reliablility of that 5.7 hemi engine. Chrysler has been making that engine for a long time and it is one of the most reliable V8 engines there is if maintained well, which if you're modding it, that will never be an issue. So, cheers my friend, good choice, I have one myself, running about 390 to the wheels (for now), which isn't too shabby. Go build that 11 second car, you'll gain a lifetime of joy and knowledge by doing so. Make sure you document your successes (and failures) for us all to witness, we'll be looking forward to that smile!! :-).
    Also, if you like muscle cars/V8 gasoline engines, and you want them around, want to be able to afford feeding them, vote Republican, lol, I'm just saying.

    *BEFORE PEOPLE GET MAD, I have owned both. I totaled my RT, upgraded to a widebody SRT(PP) 392. This is not to say he is wrong, this is for anyone else in the future deciding which one they should go with.
    1. The price difference is significant. I paid about $70k for mine. Fully loaded. I’m in LA, bought a year and a half ago with all the price jumps and mark ups. Could of saved more then $20k and got another RT, especially if used.
    2.It was also too slow for me. The HP & TQ difference is significant when you have driven both for a significant amount of time. When I drive my friends RT now it feels sooooo slow.
    3. The interior on an SRT, is nicer then the RT. The buttons and performance modes that u can get on a scat and cat, u can’t get on the RT. My seats, you can’t get on an RT. Widebody, can’t get on an RT. The whole SRT performance package, can get on an RT. My hood and wheels, can’t get on an RT.
    *You can part out, but then you spend almost as much. In my opinion wasn’t worth it.
    4. Gas definitely plays a part. I pay way more gas on my new one then I did the RT.
    5. Both cars are reliable. Just get them regularly serviced and do t beat the sh*t out of them. Make sure you have warranty. I bought new so I don’t have any worries.
    **Again, not saying he is wrong. Just clearing up a few things for future buyers. At the end of the day, no choice is wrong. Just take all thing in to account for consideration.
