I'm a Digital Nomad, and I absolutely love Malta. I'm French, and I arrived here 1 year ago. Let me list my reasons:
Firstly, the air quality. The air quality just has some unique touch it. People say it's pollution, but I'm not sure. It does make me cough and sneeze quite frequently, but I honestly just call that exercise. Is it from the millions of cars on this tiny island? Or the rampant out-of-control construction, with clear indicators of cronyism? Maybe the thousands of fireworks they set off everyday, while taking days off work and celebrating their one of ten million things they celebrate (the festas)? Probably not. Either way, it's something I adore.
Secondly, the decoration of the streets. There's quite a lot of these 'decorations' people like to complain about. They say it smells, and makes the streets uappealing. Rats and cockroaches infest it sometimes, but I honestly just think it adds to its value. I'm referring to the thousands of rubbish bags plastered across the island, in an effort to add extra beauty to it. They do have one or two cleaners for the island; I do ocassionally see them with their wooden brooms, and I always commend their hard work in ensuring it remains extra decorated.
Thirdly, the millions of joyful tourists who come to the island every summer. Millions of them! It makes this place lively. They walk around in packs, topless, shouting and screaming, naive as anything--but it sure makes this place energetic and shows how much people love this hellhol--this lovely beautiful island!
Fourthly, the people. The people here have got to be some of the smartest people I've met. Ranking the lowest in IQ in Europe (don't worry, it's a flawed scale), I love interacting with these people. How wonderfully fast they are at attending to services, always arriving on time; the service culture here is just phenomenal! This truly is a First World Nation, especially with the shops being closed half of the day, while they have their "rest"!
And finally, the best of all, the safety. Yes, Malta is an extremely safe place! Let me touch on violent crime. The chances of you getting robbed by a local is next to zero. Not to worry though, about 70% of the people that live here aren't even from here! Many of whom are from some of the safest places in the world: Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. In addition to that, I must commend the drivers here; they truly are some of the most marvelous drivers I have ever encountered in Europe. I've nearly been run over 6 times, I've witnessed individuals (even police officers) park on the sidewalk (thereby forcing me to walk on the road), people driving the wrong way, constantly honking, speeding, refusing to stop at a crossing. This place sure does have a "rich culture".
Now, how about non-violent safety? Yes, super safe. Not to worry. I promise I haven't seen rocks fall off buildings on countless occassions; glass panes, included. I haven't seen sidewalks absolutely tarnished, requiring absolute laser-focus attention at all times. Looking forward to a nice and peaceful walk? Good luck. Walking here requires extreme focus.
So, just to sum up, if you like toxic air (but don't worry, according to the Overlords that rule this island, it's just from the Sahara desert); rubbish bags, food, dog faeces (decorations) everywhere; rowdy, violent (but lively) tourists; incredibly slow services (it's okay, most of them are asleep half of the day); high chances of being run over or something falling on you -- then Malta is the place for you!
I thought I'd share my thoughts. Let's see if this comment remains up :)
Comment is up, and you described St Julians the way it is :)

Thanks John, yes, i wanted to be straight to the point with this video
Great video. Love it. Thank you, Alex
Thanks Alex! Your channel is like Malta bible!
Malta bible. I love this :)
Hi Alex,
You may need to cover the Nomad Residency renewal eligibility criteria in addition to the ease & challenges to open a bank account in Malta as Nomad.
I love ❤️ every thing Alex does
What a valuable video. Thanks.
Thank you for watching
Hello Alex from Scotland and it’s sunny today
Rainy Malta today
Housing is reasonable? Alex stop it 😂😂😂
Rent in Malta is a fraction of what it costs in London and many other cities.
Very affordable in Malta.
I’m not going to get into a debate with you about Malta having affordable housing when you bring up London. Compared to London unless you’re in New York everywhere else is affordable. Malta has beautiful housing. And comparatively affordable LUXURY housing. But on average I won’t call it affordable housing, watch more of Alex’s videos ❤
Nice
Hi my dear Alex how are you ❤ we hoping to visit my home land next year
See you next year ❤
Alex, you should create a video of Ħal Kirkop.
Can you make a video about citizen by investment of 100,000 euros in detail
as in is the amount for 1 person or 2 and where to invest whom to contact for this programme
1. Hi Alex, Is my spouse allowed to work in Malta when I am on digital Nomad visa?
2. Does it mean that after 4years of staying, one will have to exit the country? I can't apply for Permanent stay?
42k/year in a country outside UE???? If some one earn this amount of money, no reason to move to Malta
42K is not a lot 🤫
@@AlexinMalta not for EU citizen in a EU country. But for someone in India or South America....with 42k they have a pretty good life in their home soil.
I'm from Brazil. 42k/y here is almost a Medical Doctor salary. Not even average engineers earn this amount!!!
Housing is affordable? What's the criteria or standard ?
I have videos on this topics
your salary is 800 euros per month, and housing is 1200! 😀
Malta has good healthcare system? Medical benefits provided by companies do not include medication. Doctor in the clinic will issue a prescription to purchase from pharmacy at the patient's own expense. I am not sure if this is practised in all european countries or only in Malta?
Accounting jobs are on demand but the pay doesn't do justice. Even the locals stay away from it, not because they are not qualified. Professionals from foreign countries including those from non-Euro countries should be treated equally, not second class treatment.
But is it possible to come over for a few months before getting a nomad visa?
Yea ofcourse, and i always suggets people to come first for 2 weeks
I am sorry to tell you this but…
Well, I don't know how dangerous other European countries are, but Malta doesn't seem that safe either
If you are coming from Dubai yes. Can you give me more details why you think Malta is not safe ?
@@AlexinMalta There were men who made it so easy to say sexually harassing things to a woman walking down the street alone. Malta is the only country I have experienced this while traveling or living in Europe. Most of them were foreigners.
@@AlexinMalta And you should know how often old Maltese men sexually harass foreign women
Please highlight reality . Friends coming on nomad visa struggling for house contract for 2..3 months
Have not heard of this, give me details please
Mr Zulfiqar came on nomad visa. He struggled 3 months to arrange room with housing contract to get TRC.
Mr Usman came on nomad visa with family from Dubai . He also suffered long time to get room with housing authority to submit for TRC.
Now a days notary public must for housing .
Why don't we highlight TCN issues and fix it
Alex please explain, what is the real procedure to get part time work permit
You can only get a part time employment licence from JobsPlus once you are in possession of a full time work permit
If you are here on a nomad visa, you are not allowed to work for any maltese establishment, earn any money here
Part time work is paid very poorly. If you do it legally.
0!
Name us the most famous companies in Malta
Me i need a spouse from malta
