Money was always important for my then girlfriend, Lucy and it all made sense to me because it totally correlated to her story about her tough financial situation due to her parents being terrible with money. Lucy was my first real relationship and I wanted her to be my last and my forever. So, when we graduated from high school and saw just how terribly stressed Lucy seemed, I did everything I possibly could in my power to help her have the normal, happy, fulfilling college experience, even if that meant that I had to support her financially a lot.

Yes, I highly agree. I came here expecting this to be another "ex was a gold digger" story, but it turns out that OP's brother and parents were even worse! Brother lied to his spouse about his financial stability coming from his uppity parents for EIGHT YEARS STRAIGHT! Lucy may be seen as shallow in this story, but you can't really blame her for calling for divorce after this dealbreaker.

Story # 1: Perfect KARMA for "Lucy". She learned that "Jason" was a lying PoS. The present gf had a good idea. OP lived his best life, and he actually found out that his family were always the cause of his problems. "Lucy" found out that "Jason" was a lying PoS. While, yes she was and still is a gold digger, finding out that "Jason" had lied to her about the restaurant was the best way for her to learn her lesson.

Hearing from the update about parents supporting bro financially after the affair was revealed makes me wonder if it was less "that girl is not good for you, and more "the golden child deserves her more than you".
Story 3, I understand my brother was the same way. He broke into my room, stoke my paycheck and bought a new stereo system. When we came home and I saw my door was broke and my money was gone. My brother went head first out the front window, then to the hospital. I got a new stereo and my parents made him pay me back all the money.

Have your husband tell his mommy that she needs to get mental health help because of her religious delusions. Also, while your husband can visit his mommy when he wants to, make it clear to both of them that you and the kids won't be visiting his delusional mommy partly because you don't want the kids exposed to her delusions, and partly because you feel that they wouldn't be safe around her. It's best to go low or no contact with people who you can't trust around your kids. Your MIL can practice whatever religion she wants, but you have the same right to practice or not practice any religion you want to follow or reject, so you have every right to tell her not to practice her weird rituals at your home, or to expose your kids to that.

She’s under 18 this is a “juvenile” offense. It will probably be expunged/ sealed from her record. So, at this point it most likely wouldn’t hurt her chance at law school. But if it isn’t sealed she could lose that chance. Tell your dad... let both your parents know that if she does this to someone else or at a business she’ll be arrested. They need to have her tested for substances without telling her, she may be selling the things to feed her habit. She needs therapy too.
I would speak with the police to see what your options & the consequences would be. At the very least you can insist a file be started.
