I love how you use the English language. "If you encounter such leaves..." I would never think to use the word encounter there, and it is absolutely elegant.

John from NZ here, but my wife from Meghalaya and we will be moving there when conditions permit. Firstly, my thoughts with you all in India at present. I do a lot of propagation here in NZ and will be doing more (different plants, different climate) when we move to Meghalaya. I liked the video very much but I just say that I have variable experience with propagating in water when they also propagate in soil. There are a few plants that I find propagate well in both (e.g. Armeria, "cigarette plant", pineapple sage) but if I start them off in water they grow roots much quicker and easily transplant directly into pots or the garden itself. One of the joys of gardening is that one can always experiment, always learn and enjoy sharing experiences with other plant lovers from around the world.

In a shallow, open container (including anything you’d use to root plant cuttings), there’s enough gas exchange between water and air that the water will generally be saturated with oxygen, and the carbon dioxide will outgas quite rapidly as it is produced. So changing the water in the container is to keep down algae, bacteria, fungus, and mold levels (and, of course, mosquitoes), not really to maintain an oxygen level.

good video!! I like that you tell the truth, and not saying propagating in water is the best thing ever, like other videos do.I will add that, the kind of water your using is really important too.I find that in tap water ,or filterd water, cuttings die easy,so I use only mineral water(spring water)for cuttings ,

#1 so true. It's good to all rinse the roots with a sink sprayer if you can if you let them sit in water longer than "considered necessary" like pothos/philodendron for example

What a lovely video, I so enjoyed listening to you. You speak very well without rushing that I found you easy to follow. It is perfect that there is no interfering music as you speak!!!
You have confirmed things that I have often wondered about. Now I know! Propagation is an art form and people often say that the plant failure rate is high, generally, which is why plants are expensive to buy.
Here, in the south-west of England, my cuttings in water, root at a slower rate. I enjoyed seeing your propagation station, it’s something to drool over!!
So interesting!! Thank you, dear, for a beautiful lecture and I wish you much luck in your horticultural pursuits!

Just curious, I’ve noticed some plant owners only keep there plants in water containers for the roots-but you mentioned taking them out of the water and into soil after a few inches of root growth. I also do like observing my root growth in the clear water vases and debated just leaving them as such rather than planting them. Is this okay after all? Or do you think we should always plant directly after achieving 3 or so inches of root growth of all of our plants? Thanks! ✨🌱🌿🪴

i change water every 3 day and also harvest rain water for my cuttings. I never leave sanseveria to air dry but i wont let the cutting touch water while propagating. I use cling film on the container and insert sanseveri through a slit and the humidity will do the job .i did propagate my sanseveria in this way. you should give it a try.
