      hehe yeah propagation is such a cool thing, it's nice to see how cuttings are doing!

    My prop boxes are a mess. I put too much stuff in and it overgrows and I end up losing stuff that's smaller. I'm going to try and be more organised. Yours are great, you have some real lovely ones. I loved the white ice especially.

      yeah it's defo a balance keeping a prop box organised... I'm thinking of making the ones where everything is in little separate pots of moss to hopefully lose less stuff to tangled roots

    Now I need to go get a nice prop box. I have been using small food containers that do not hold much.

      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do love food containers for wet sticks and small stuff! but making a big box is defo a game changer!

    i’m really into hoya and names are hard! one thing they need is light to develop leaves, I find they root super fast on water, pon or leca as long as they are right under my grow light, try moving one under a grow light and see it explode with leaves 🤪

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hoya names are hard!! I'm surprised I managed to find most of them again 😂 these boxes are under grow lights so they are receiving some light, but probably not enough to produce great hoya leaf growth... I'll move some of the ones I potted after filming this into brighter spots! Thanks for the advice!

    Once the plants are rooted you can remove them from the prop box and pot them up in a different substrates for more nutrients. I find when rooting the plants you can put them in cups so it doesn’t get all tangle up. I do prefer water propagations they work better for me. Once i see some roots i transfer straight to soil with rooting hormones.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I think I need to use cups or something instead of having the tangled mess... I'm just such a procrastinator when it comes to potting up after propping!

    Nice prop boxes! 🌱 You make me feel like I need to up my prop game and get a larger box. 😆

      I do love a large box for larger cuttings! 🤷‍♀

    I loved this !
    Prop boxes are like a secret garden 🫶
    Hoya Mahtilde proped so well for me in pearlite , I had one like yours now have 5 cuttings I plants all together , oh Caudata is one of my favs I have an Embricata cutting coming . The Dubai just need something to climb I’m seeing tiny cuttings like yours selling for a lot . I always keep some Dubai as insurance because I paid 50$ for one leaf 🍃 years ago .

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      right! mini secret garden boxes!
      yeah dubia cuttings are still fairly expensive here too... I just can't seem to get them to prop well for me.. I almost think I need to get an established plant to figure out what it likes and then use that knowledge to do props in the future

      I love my caudata, too. I think Emma will love it more once it's out of the prob box. I don't think I can move my imbricata out of the prop box! My humidity is such too low. I do love it though.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuirkyLemon hmm maybe put the imbricata in a terrarium or under a bell jar on a pebble tray or something?? then you can still admire it outside of the prop box :)

    My prop boxes are so OCD compared to yours 😅 I have everything lined up, evenly spaced, and labeled. I can't stand forgetting what's in them

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I sometimes wish mine were more like that... I just tend to rush and if I have a random wet stick, just put it in and forget about it 😅

    I tried a perlite prop/acclimation box and it all grew algae and turned bright green. How do you keep yours white? Just found your channel. Says you are in the UK but you sound like me 🇨🇦😁

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      algae on perlite is totally normal and you can boil it off. I find mine goes green when it's been super damp and then exposed to light. these only had light from the top and weren't the wettest. And yeah I'm in the UK but from California originally

    "What's a girl to do with 200 house plants?" That is my problem. I can't stop myself from propagating, but I don't have room for all those new plants.

      yeahhh I tend to swap and sell and give away cuttings to friends... but collecting houseplants is a special hobby because if you do it right, it will grow even if you don't buy any more 😂 so we all run out of room!

    • @elyse6688
      @elyse6688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I sell mine or for the more common ones I pot them up and leave them around town with a little note for people to find and take home 😊

    I got a Hoya verticullata? Formerly the parasitica....it has crazy roots all over its very long runners. Odd question, is it okay if I bury that whole bit?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see why not but maybe it would be better suited on something like a moss pole? not too sure though, I don't think I've seen hoyas on moss poles

    • @GoodGrowing

    Is the moss in your prop box too dry? 🤔

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's defo not dry dry, but in the last box it could have been slightly damper
