    Air seeders are so much faster than the old dills.. wouldn't mind having one.. but we don't have the acres we used to.

    • @NorthEastSaskFarmer
      @NorthEastSaskFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With only a 38.5ft tool and 350bu tank I average 200-250 acres per day. But I band my nitrogen and sulphur in advance. With canola I can do 200 acres on a fill

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin

      @@NorthEastSaskFarmer nice 👍 sure beats 12' at a time, holds 1,100# of oats, just enough to get almost 10 acres per fill.. wheat is almost 20 acres per fill.. clover, lol.. plant for days on a full..

    So is that a Bourgault air drill?? It looks like it is, but it’s black. 7” spacing is nice, that’s what I run too. You should show a person how you calibrate the air tank. Just saying. I would be interested. I have a 4350 been thinking of upgrading.

    • @NorthEastSaskFarmer
      @NorthEastSaskFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, it’s a Bourgault 5700, the predecessor to the 5710. They were all black for some reason. I finished seeding yesterday so I won’t have anymore calibration stuff till this fall maybe. Considering setting up my new Bourgault 9200 to band both nh3 and granular, so I can band sulphur and potash in the same pass as nh3. So when I seed all I have in the tank is phos and seed, reducing seed toxicity and increasing acres per fill

    So fun fact. Potash in Canada is not naturally pink. It's dyed for the North American and Chinese markets. This differentiates it from 46-0-0 in blends. China wants it red because red is good luck. Otherwise its white. Source: I am a potash miner.

    • @NorthEastSaskFarmer
      @NorthEastSaskFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool. So is it dyed at the nine. I have hauled hot potash out of mine and it is pink. And Russian potash is a green in color. So is it dyed also.

    • @NorthEastSaskFarmer
      @NorthEastSaskFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! They are vredestein tires, so far I love them. They were very economical by modern standards, they were $2000 a tire when I ordered them last spring. Beats the heck out of the old bias ply tires they replaced

    Great video, I farm in Nova Scotia, what is the advantage or disadvantage of wether the air cart is towed between or towed behind?

    • @NorthEastSaskFarmer
      @NorthEastSaskFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pros of a tow between, minimal ruts behind the drill in wet conditions, no compaction of seed rows, utilizes the weight of the tank for added traction on the tractor, puts the tractor far ahead of the drill to help crawl out of wet areas, easier to back up, safer in hilly fields. Cons of a tow between: reduced visibility of the drill, more skill demanding to maneuver around obstacles or do the outside round. Pros of a tow behind: great visibility of tool bar, less skill demanding to maneuver around obstacles or do outside round. About it for pros of the tow behind

    • @adamlarmer4598
      @adamlarmer4598 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the detailed response, I guess my thought would be better to reduce the compaction on the seedbed but that may be not as important if you have to roll afterwards I suppose.
