I had a black mouth cur growing up, we found her as a stray. Once she was nursed to health we took her on a walk in the pasture behind out house. instantly, she darts off. it took us about and hour to find her, but once we did she had a boar pinned to the ground just staring back at us to finish the job. Her name was Delilah and she was a great dog.

Funny part is a pitbull would be ripped apart by a boar. Not only are they more aggressive, a heavier animal, better protection due to thicker skin, they can also run faster and maneuver quicker. Now a pack of pitbulls could take on a boar. But one Pitbull is screwed even against a single boar. I like this guy's videos but he don't know shit about boar hunting.
@@jamesheichel9465bro, in my country we had a tradition call it adu bagong(boars vs dogs in a cage). We usually use a Pitbull to fight 175+ lbs boars. And i dont know u will believe this shit or not, we got a champ dogs its only 100 lbs or less kills a boars who had twice of his size or more. Its happen because his owner was crazy because when we got boars over 200 lbs we release 2 or 3 dogs but he take a risk to 1on1 and win it but that dogs got 75 stitches over his body🤣.

@@TDD95not to catch boar but yes to bay at the boar completely different things which is why the dog didnt make the list. the dogs cant hunt boar or other pack animals alone you need a catch dog to work with the bay dog.

@@BaneleMajola it’s a lot in 1 Dogo Argentino, socialization is key from 8 weeks (THEY MUST BE OK WITH KIDS AND PEOPLE, they know when something is bad since they are very intelligent). You cannot leave this dog in a cage for hours, they must exercise miles a day and need stimulation (games, toys like tug a war, fetching,etc). Once you get that all down, it’s a great dog to have! I love mines, she’s 2 now and is always I mean always on high alert! A lot of dog like I said 😂…make sure you have TIME (wait until you work for yourself honesty).

Can we talk about other great breeds … in Europe you’ll see people using Wire Fox Terries. Yes they’re smaller but please do believe me when he holds on to something you can swing him around like a carousel 😂! They’re stubborn, persistent and very tough! And very smart ❤
As a WFT owner I can vouch for that 😅 they’re also using packs of Jadgterriers now. Which are basically WFTs on steroids
Also the Transylvanian Hound was used for hunting boars. These dogs whistle so the hunter can follow their track.

Looking at what some pepole around here do with thoose dogs the jagd terrier is the right dog no matter if hou hunt boar, fox, deer, hare, marten or if you need a bloody retreiver for the goose hunt. And wprst part is that in the right hands (a skilled enough trainer) you can use the same dog for all of it.

boar hunting is best done in a pack and the Black Mouth Cur is the undeniable best pack dog to take down a boar.
Great Danes & Rhodesian ridgebacks were literally designed for this type of thing. Hunting lions, boars, and baboons. Pretty sure both are even considered “boarhounds”
There's even a boarhound head archetype for great danes. Though good luck finding an actual working line danes, I only see show dogs anymore.

He states in the video, "they make great CATCH dogs." For tracking and chasing the hog, perhaps not the best. But I would imagine they would be a formidable "catch" dog.

Catahoula’s are great imho. They are so incredibly brave, but that stems from an unshakable faith in there owner.
We have imported plotthounds to sweden and they are exelent for wild boar. And bears 😊
I’ve had many catahoula x whippets they’re perfect for hunting. Good as farm dogs also.
They also need light vests that can protect them from those tusks

Please don't encourage the myth of a pitbull having a locking jaw. They do not have a locking jaw. They have a lot of muscle yes. But not a locking jaw.
You don't likely get them in the US, but Bull Arabs were bread for wild pig hunting in Australia. They crossed Pointer with Greyhounds and Bull Terriers, and later added Mastiff/GD for size= big, fast, + sight and smell.
The Akita is a good boar hunter too 👍🏻

Density, speed, stamina, aggression, teamwork, max decibel volume to disorient the boar, bravery, and mad protective instincts for the hunter themselves! My two girls are absolute tanks and my pride and joy lol!

An Aussie Bull Arab any day of the week. When the Corso and Pit get tired the Bull Arab just gets started. Incredible stamina, terrific sight, smell pigs up to 5km away. Super fast. Great holding bite. Perfect pig dog. Dogo not a bad choice. You definitely can go too big with pig dogs. Bull Arab breeding: 50% English Bull Terrier, 25% German Shorthaired Pointer, 25% Greyhound. 👌

Presas are just cane Corsos bred slightly better on average in recent decades. They're the same thing, and sadly both aren't working dogs most of the time. Buying a purebred Corso or presa and expecting it to do something is kind of funny. You might get lucky, but very low odds.

@@reubinthomas Yes 2000 years ago. Its not the same dog anymore. Cane Corso is mostly bred by its looks. Unlike its cousin Presa Canario which is more of a dog than Cane Corso nowdays because of more careful breeding. Presa is bred by its character and Cane Corso is bred by its looks. Most people dont know this and this trainer is one of them.

@@murena10 I'm sorry but the presa has been claimed by show breeders aswell. There was a case a few years back, where they stole a whole pack of Presas from a big breeder. The robbers literally just picked up the pups and dragged the adults by the collar.
The only guarantees I've been able to find are working line Shepherds, Kangals, Tosas, and Malakli. Anything else, you need to check your breeder's lines and test every individual before you buy.
@@TheObscuran I assume you talk about usa? I would never get a presa from US. Its good to check bloodline everytime, unless you really know the breeder from the past. Im talking about the real presas from Europe :) I dont really care if someone stole a litter from Texas or whatever case you talking about. Im talking about breeding which happened when the breed was rescued in the 90s all the way to this day. Cane Corso has been mostly bred by its looks, but Presa breeding has been done mostly by its character. Presa -> Cane Corso all day every day!
Right after watching this my Corso is running with a Coyote. Little guy wasn't sure what to do. Happened too fast to video.

@@ryancorsaut5177 pet fauna is correct on this one. Rhodesian ridgebacks were used to track and herd lions to the hunters. They didn’t do the attacking and killing. They drove the lion to the people that would actually do the deed.

The Australian pigdog or Bull Arab was specifically bred to hunt wild pigs.

I’d probably replace the pit bull for a Scott American bulldog due to the AB being used for hunting and is larger whereas the APT was bread for fighting and is generally leaner/smaller

I love Cane Corso. A working breed like mine is a great dog for it, but the Dogo was bred and created for bore hunting. Id swap the last two.

I've seen the alabai in fights, it's too big and gets tired in just a few minutes, the Kangal is where it's at. I'm not sure if the Malakli would be too big, and stubborn.

My favorite episode of Crocodile Hunter was when Steve Irwin was in a boat with his pit bull, and they see a wild hog on the riverbank. The dog jumps out of the boat to get the pig, and Steve jumps out of the boat to get his dog. I thought this guy is getting hurt.

On the topic of boars it is story time.
Okay so I was on a walk with my friend and her family and her two German shepherds were also there they were sniffing around in the tall grass, they ended up finding a sleeping boar it woke up and charged at us my fight or flight went freeze my friend and her family’s went flight and the dogs went fight, since I was frozen in shock (and second closest to the boar) my friend’s mom started shouting “RUN!” after about 30 seconds I ran with my friend, her mom, and her little sister while her dad ran after the dogs who were loudly barking at and chasing the boar off her family’s property. When we got back to the little house thing they have we all sat down, we waited for about five minutes 1 of the two dogs came back with my friend’s dad her parents then started looking for the other one my friend was so worried that she started crying. Luckily the other one came back, and got A LOT of attention (so did the other one) on the car ride back my friend’s dog (the one who came back 2nd) fell asleep on my lap and she was so ADORABLE my friend leaned over and fell asleep on her dog I eventually fell asleep with my hand on the dogs head (I am pretty sure that I pet the dog so much that she fell asleep lol 😂). When we got back to my friend’s house both dogs got a slice of Spanish ham and my friend and joked that on the property there was a pitbull named killer who ate half of the boar for dinner. Btw I actually have a pitbull and he is the sweetest dog I have ever met.

I had a "dogo Argentino" that was what i thought to be a 120LB blue nose pit that was all white! His name was Kaiser, and he lived for 16 years! He became my son at the age of 18 and was the most loyal dog ever! Especially to my 3 daughters that
were born and grew up with him until 3 years ago, July 21. Everyone misses him! I'm just reminiscing and recommending his breed. Sorry!
I wish i could share pictures on comments! My (Mr. Kaise), as everyone or (Kai Kai) as my kids called him, was the definition of the best dog ever!
Also, don't trim the ears when he is just a family dog! It's literally how i know his expressions and what he was saying to me! It's like a horse! You can know what he is feeling whenever he moves them or twitch them a certain way!😅
The Australian Bull Arab is the best dog breed for hunting pigs. Second choice is a mixed English bull terrier cross blue cattle dog.
It was a bit unconventional and the vet bills were enormous, but my pack of 87 Chihuahuas were like a school of " land piranhas " and would take out a wild boar in less than a minute.

I’d say the dogo would be ahead of the cane corso,for sure. But it takes more than just one breed,we’ve been hunting pigs here for a long time and they mostly use pitbull/mastiff and sometimes bulldog mixes. They’re can be up to 3 different breeds in the one dog. Depends on what works for you.
Rottweiler is also a great dog for hunting they were bred to kill bearss

I have a Dogo Argentino and have to say, he (Hemi) also has lockjaw and won’t let go, I’m in Alaska and he literally scared a moose away that in that moment unknown to me, came out of the woods standing 10 feet behind me (practically dragged me towards it!) he is a fierce protector like the Corso, he is like a psychic in the sense that he is super sensitive to picking up on a person as to whether they are off, high, or intentions are bad and he gives off the message they better back off.. he’s never been wrong. Use large hounds. Boar travel in packs. Sometimes 20-30 strong
