Over 100 People Have Failed | Central Park's Famous 5LB Parmo Challenge

- For stop one of the England series, Randy and I visited Central Park Bar & Restaurant in Middlesborough to take on the regionally famous 5lb Parmo Challenge! Hungry diners have 45 minutes to finish 2 massive fried chicken breast cutlets smothered in béchamel sauce and cheese, which is served atop a bed of chips and garnished with onion rings and mushrooms. The challenge, which has been failed over 100 times, also includes a side salad, just to remind challengers that vegetables do exist. Winners receive the £25 meal at a discounted £20, a groovy t-shirt, and a spot up on Central Park's Wall of Fame!

Is it me, or is Katina's capacity going up? Like two years ago, she was around 5-6 pounds of food were her max...now it seems she is up around 8-9 pounds of food? Anyone else see the development of her into a force in these competitions? Well done!!!!

I suspect it has to do with muscle training. As in the more challenges she complete the more her muscle become accustomed to expanding to accommodate. Her exercising help maintain the taught stomach
She regularly does intentional capacity training. She has shared this in the past.

Fully agree. It seems like no matter where she is the crowd participation always makes it feel like an event. I love BMF, but the vibe at his challenges are in complete contrast to Katina's. Mind you, the banter he has with the staff, management and patrons is second to none. Love how him and Kat both have their own separate styles, yet both are totally endearing.

@@AnthonyScott5425 I'd argue that it's an intentional difference. Kat (and Randy) want a crowd to make it an event for fans. Beard hopes people don't recognize him to get the staff reactions.

It’s pretty easy to make bechamel sauce. In Italy we use it in lasagne as the last layer on top. We cover the entire lasagna with it. It can go wrong when you make it, go crazy as we say. Heat up butter, add flour and make a paste, then add milk and keep stirring and gradually add more milk until it thickens. At the end add the yolk of an egg and nutmeg. Voilà
Yup, thats pretty much the basic standart recipe I know too. ( German ) Although personally I also add a pinch of salt and some freshly ground black or red pepper. Over here in Germany we also use Bechamel sauce in some other dishes too. Like salt potatoes with steamed vegetables ( usually Broccoli / Cauliflower / Carrots mix ) then top that with Bechamel sauce and serve with some type of meat, like a nice thick slice of smoked Brisket or Bratwurst or a nice piece of pork roast.
Bechamel is one of the "Mother Sauces". Meaning it's a base for other sauces, like Alfredo. It can also be used on its own. Other Mother Sauces would include Tomato, Hollandaise, Velouté, and Espagnole.

This is the first of your food challenges (that I've seen) where the meal wasn't free if you beat the challenge. A measly £5 discount? CHEAPSKATES.

Didn't you listen? SHE got it for free. Because of the free advertisement. When "normal" people try that challenge they barely get any advertising and lose money because of the mountain of food they give to them for free. So what is the problem?

Hundreds of other challenges DO give the meal for free, despite the lack of "advertising". So you tell me, what makes this place so special that they should be the exception?
@@briantrash they gotta know what they can do and what they can not do. Maxbe they are in a place where they don't get as many customers. Or they only have products from local sources. Do you know? They can decide for themselves. And when no one wants to do that challenge anymore because they have to pay, they are going to notice and maybe change the rules 🤷🏼♀️

More people in Middlesbrough know what Béchamel sauce is than anywhere else in the world outside France (I made that up, but probably true).

I’m a huge fan since I was recommended Randy Santel as I started watching Adam aka Beard Meats Food. It’s great to see that women can do what some men can’t do and some men can do and with smaller bodies generally speaking. It’s great you’ve toured the UK and probably know it better than me despite the fact I’m English!

Hello, Katina. When I was in my 20's, I was nicknamed "Garbage Gut." I could pack away many steaks in one sitting. (Of course, I never thought to actually weigh the meat, I only went by how many I could eat in one sitting. 7 and a partial steaks was the record for me. With pasta, I ate so much in one sitting, I am surprised I didn't turn into a noodle, myself. I don't know if I should try a food challenge at my age now, but it is so much fun watching you, Randy, and the others win challenge after challenge. Parmi is what I eat in Australia. Many different types and toppings, but the most common is a tomato/marinara sauce and melted cheese on top of a crumbed/fried chicken fillet.

Being a Londoner whose never visited the North (at all), we don't have Parmos down here so I've yet to have to pleasure of trying one, but seeing how delicious they look makes me want to endure the four and a half hour drive up there just to try one! 🤤
Anthony please do me a favor, explore your country. I've been to your country plenty of times and had a blast.
I'm still learning about my country and, with two more States to go; we both should appreciate the lands we live on.
@@mikemann1960 You're absolutely right, Mike. I often talk about how disappointed I am with myself for never choosing to explore England and the UK. Other than a month spent in Edinburgh (back in 2000) and a couple of trips to Wales, and having a girlfriend from Birmingham, the only other times I've left London were to fly to the US, Canada, the Carribean and Europe. I've visited more places abroad than I have in Britain. But I'll soon right those wrongs. Seeing as you've visited all but two of your 50 states, especially given how big the US is compared to UK, you truly put me to shame. That's an impressive feat in itself, even more so given the fact that you've travelled across the pond a few times too.
Mate, I'm from Kent and you can grab them in some restaurants down here, usually with ham.
