Hi John, thanks for watching my video, and by all means copy the design. Since making this video I made a follow-up to show another lathe stop using a micrometer head. This will allow even more accurate cuts. I've had cataract surgery on both eyes now, which has made my eyesight so much better, and improved my life so much. All the best Cheers Nobby
Hello Nobby, I really like the Carriage stop... so many people (including myself) over engineer solutions. The bottle jack support and locking ring is good. I have got myself a flat iron to make something like yours... nice little engine, it will be nice to see the new engine once you've completed it. Take care. Paul,,
I made the same part in brass. Did not fit a bolt, but fitted a micrometer spindle in the hole you showed the DTI fitted. Allowed me to set shoulder lenghts accurately with a dead stop. Glad you eye is improving. Regards from Australia.
Great ideas! I shall steal your carriage stop design. And I hope your cataract jobs have turned out well. Best wishes!

I used aluminium which I hoped would not damage the ways. Made sure to use a brass locking screw. Thanks for looking David. Cheers Nobby
