I think it would be helpful to a lot of people if you show us how easy it is to replace the psu header, and where to buy a 12v-2x6 headwr
A useful vid that we actually needed. Thumbs up!
Great, thank you !!!
Hi. The cheapest ATX 3.0 compatible power supply I found was Zalman Gigamax GV. Have you tested them? What do you think about them? Is it worth pairing them with expensive graphics cards?
Still rocking my Seasonic Prime TX-1600 ATX 2.5 with a RTX4090. Hopefully it will be compatible with RTX 50 series or newer.
Think I will pick up the FSP Mega series once they are available!
I'm glad I was late to the 4090 as I have a strix with the 12v-2x6 and my PSU has 12v-2x6 header. I didn't find out this whole plug problem until after I bought the card and was sweating even firing my PC up for the day.
And i'm even more happy that i chose a Corsair PSU because they have 2x8 pin to 12vhpwr which is better 👌🏼
I just ordered a seasonic vertex gx-850 3.0 on sale for my new 4070 ti super 7800x3d build. I read reviews about someone’s pc shorting out with it and a few about major coil whine. Did I make a mistake? Also would I be able to upgrade to 4090 later with this set up or is the cable only going to produce up to 450w since it’s not 1000w or 1200w?
Maybe this will help th-cam.com/video/X_wtoCBahhM/w-d-xo.html
People tend to recommend 1000W PSU for a 4090 on reddit but also tend to say its overpowered and 850W is enough, for my 14700K+4090 build I've gone for a Vertex PX-1200 because it was ATX 3.0, and because PSU arent very pricey compared to the rest of the build, for my 12600K+4070 build I've got a Focus PX-850 and I think its a bit overkill but again the price wasnt really a big difference and lower than 850 there wasnt a lot of choice either
Do you have any experience/knowledge of the Phanteks AMP GH series? They suddenly popped up here in Norway, but it seems they have mostly been sold in China / eastern countries until fairly recently as far as I can tell. In any case, the 1000/1200w are 80 plus platinum rated and I also saw the 1000w had pretty good results on the Clearesult test. Do you think you will get this model in for testing yourself? Would be interesting to see!
I don't have any relations with Phanteks. They do not send me any samples, probably they don't want me reviewing them.
Please, active CC, it will make easier to me understand.

I'm sorry for asking, this may be a dumb question, but can you explain the effect of the lower/higher hold up time to everyday person (who might not really knowledgeable with PSU) in like a simple terms? Does like a lower hold up time makes your PSU easily turns off during instability or what?
That said I think even just by the numbers, the cut for the hold up time itself seems a very significant reduction. Thanks in advance 🙏
No worries, hold-up time gives more room to a PSU to hold in ultra-short power cuts. Think it as a big battery, the bulk cap. It is mainly for protection to users having UPS connected to their PSUS, for extra safety.
@@HardwareBusters thank you so much for replying to me and the very helpful explanation 🙏
I'm content with my Seasonic Prime TX-1300 ATX 3.0.
I just got same PSU bt 1600W since it was similar price on Amazon and exactly the same size
its too bad they dont have any 750-850 compacter Prime models with 3.0 yet. personally, i dont need a 1000+ PSU's. I dont want my GPU or CPU to be able to use that much. 400watt total system power is more than enough for me personally i tweak my system to be closer to 250-300 watt max with a high power profile that can go beyond when needed.
PX-1200 ATX 3.0 here, let's pray all together for our GPU not to burn (and our wallet not to suffer even more)
@@Nelthalin It's not that you need to use 1000 watts to be able to justify a 1000+ watt PSU. It's about the efficiency at higher wattages as well as the lower noise levels at moderate wattage. I currently only use up to 300-350 watts or so with a Ryzen 7 7700X and RX 6700XT and I was able to use my 550 watt Seasonic GX from my first build. My next upgrade may use 450-500 watts maxed out and while technically that could work it would be terribly inefficient and well beyond the ~55% load which tends to be where efficiency starts to drop below the rating of the PSU (gold, bronze, platinum ect.). Look at Cybenetics efficiency and noise graphs to see what I mean. The Seasonic GX-1000 is quieter at 250 watt load than the GX-850 is.
Im looking at this exact one myself because i saw how efficeant it is as well as how low the vampire draw it. But not sure about space in my PSU compartment of my case.. (that is, not sure ill like how little room is lift for cabling.
What do you think, is it worth buying titanium ATX 3.0 now or should I wait for 3.1? for example, fsp hydro ti pro or mega 3.1?
FSP Hydro Ti Pro
Really stupid they lowered the hold uptime good to know. So its up to reviews again to see what PSU"s can go beyond that min spec.
I just got an Asus Loki SFX-L 1200W and the website says ATX 3.1 compatible. Do I have 12V-2x6 or not?
yes, you should have 12V-2x6. If I remember correctly this PSU uses a native connector on its modular board.
"I'm planning to buy the Seasonic Vertex GX 1200. It's equipped with ATX 3.0 and has a 12V 2x6 connector. Since I'm not proficient in English and this new standard isn't widely discussed in my country, I'm feeling a bit confused. My GPU has the H++ mark, indicating compatibility with the new standard. However, if I understand you correctly, would it be advisable to proceed with my current plan rather than waiting for ATX 3.1?" seasonic vertex gx 1200 is good ? sorry for my dumb question.
No worries there are no dumb questions. The cable is the same, so you can proceed with the GX 1200 and no need to wait for an updated version. For all I know, the PSU you get might already have a 12V-2x6!
@@HardwareBusters I really appreciate your clarification.I'm going with GX1200. Thank you so much.
Would you rate seasonic Vertex GX ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5 later, dear Sir?
I have it in this best PSUs article. It is pretty good.
@@HardwareBusters thank you for your response dear sir
Hello! thank you very much for that clear information, I´m wondering to purchase Thermaltake GF3 1000w PCIE 3.0 with 12VHPWR cpnnector: my configuration is the following: 13700K + ROG RYUO III 240MM + Z790 TUF WIFI PLUS + 64GB DDR5 6400 CORSAIR PRO RGB + 2 SSD M2. + 1 SATA SSD + NVIDIA 3070 (possible replacement for 4080 or 5070? please let me know what do you think. My case is a Mastercaste PRO 5 Coolermaster. I´m replacing a very old XFX CORE 850w psu from 2011!! can you believe that?? still running! Kind Regards, from Argentina!
Hi there! This TT GF3 unit is fine for your system. You might find stock with the new 12V-2x6 connector if it is from a later production batch.
@@HardwareBusters But the 3.0 ATX version Is better regarding peak response Time? Maybe Is Difficult to Find that model in Argentina yet, as I've searching for some Corsair or Seasonic models of 1000W too
is it safe to use a 12vhpwr cable extension on a atx 3.1 psu?
Nope
@@HardwareBusters damn even when you connect it to the native 12vhpwr? i just dont like how the stock cable looks
My PX-1200 Vertex seems to hold up my 4090 quite well for now, hope nothing goes wrong in the future, and as Gamer Nexus already mentionned, dont unplug your GPU every weeks to see if its burning or not, you dont want foreign object to go inside, 12vhpwr are quite weak to that since it deliver a lot of power while having very thin ping
Even if it work Nvidia should double think about their power delivery method for their GPU, I would have even preferred four 8 pins connector rather than that, maybe a double 12vhpwr ? Well I'm not competent enough on this subject, but maybe there is a problem when people start complaining since before it wasnt a problem
true you should not unplug-plug it every now and then. You should only make sure that it is all the way in plugged at the first time you do it and then leave it alone.
Wow, I never expected ATX 3.1 PSUs to be weaker than a 3.0. I'd get a 3.0 if available. Thanks!
they loose in hold-up time only but yeah this is major for me.
@@HardwareBusters I just got the Seasonic Prime TX 1600W ATX 3.0, did I make a mistake buying this?
@@HardwareBusters I thought you mentioned the required surge capacity was reduced to 150%, as well.
@@George-um2vc according to the video, it should be good
Subtitles please :(
Will try :)
@@HardwareBusters thank you, great videos :)
@@HardwareBusters Why not merge subtitles on the video even just only in English?
Silverstone says its Extreme 1200R has a 12V 4.1 standard. Anyone know what that means
This is the SFX equivalent to ATX v3.x
They really don't make it easy lol
@@HardwareBusters thats so stupid why not intergrate the two :( they had to make it more complicated
