I have shifted my attention to selling costume jewelry. I have always bought fine jewelry and high end flashy rhinestones pieces but now need to stop buying crystal and china and need to replace that income. I pay up for costume pieces that I feel are better than average. It kills me when I miss a condition issue. With gold I can scrap out. I have started selling repair lots for 1/2 book value to just move on. I like watching your videos. I haven't bought silver to resell in years. I always scrap it. I am starting to sell CP. HSN, QVC, Sajen, Joan Rivers......I just have to learn what sells for more than scrap since most 925 is sold at scrap in my area. Good, informative videos.

Question what is vertigree? How does one piece of jewelry get it and another doesn't? How to avoid jewelry getting vertigree? Are certain types of jewelry get it? Metal? Gold? Sterling silver?
Verdigris is pretty common to find on old jewelry and it does in fact spread to other pieces, so it must be dealt with. It is basically some type of metal oxidation that is usually caused by moisture. I did a whole video on it, but in order to clean, I use vinegar (or ketchup) and after it sets for a few minutes, I carefully remove with either a small stiff brush, or a very soft toothbrush if the pieces is hearty enough to handle. Then I carefully rinse the area, careful to not get any water on any rhinestones or enameling. After that, I gently towel dry and then use a hair dryer to make sure there is zero moisture. Hope this helps.

How do you test gemstones to know they are real or fake? I have some pieces from my mom and gramma that I really love to wear. I don’t want to sell them, but want to know if I’m out taking care of our animals that I should take whatever it is off. 😆

Very nice pieces here and nice profits. Do you find that customers thank you for taking their offers? I just took an offer of $150 less on a old Native American Navajo piece. I did not receive any communication from the buyer or feedback or anything. I find that odd.
No one has ever thanked me either. Haha but I thank them for their purchase to open communication and that usually gets me some feedback 😉
Everyone is so used to buying things online, some customers don't keep in mind that most of us are just small time sellers and busy people on eBay. And most of us enjoy our merchandise and get excited (for the buyer!) when we sell something or give a deep discount. I think to some buyers, it's just a click on a computer... I certainly don't think it's meant to be cold-hearted, we just live in such a "click a button" world it's easy to forget there's a human being working hard behind that button! Congrats on the sale, I bet the buyer loves it!!! xoxoxo

Do you go to local in person auctions?
Sometimes. I do travel quite a bit so will check out local auctions if I have time, but I do also bid online sometimes and have lots mailed to me. Thanks for watching!
