Simplified is used in mainland China, traditional is used in HK, Taiwan, Macau and within large communities of Chinese diaspora in SE Asian countries such as Singapore. The language that a book is published in will obviously depend on where the publishing company is located. If you’re talking about Chinese classics or more modern popular books, the majority can be found in both writing systems.
