i guess white people are so privileged to understand all this, im not black but im not either white, i have a pretty tan/brownish skin, and it is kinda sad that growing up there wasn't representation for people like me, so i can't imagine how was for black people, i grow up telling myself i was ugly because i wasn't white and it's just heartbreaking to think there's little kids thinking like that too now, i remember saying i wanted to be the mermaid on Halloween and stuff and people told me i couldn't because i wasn't white,so i don't think the privileged class has a saying in here, Halle is an AMAZING SINGER like AMAZING her voice is so beautiful and she has prove already her acting skills, so why is this still a conversation when people say this is about skin color then why are they arguing still smh

I love Halle as Ariel! She has such an amazing beautiful voice and I can definitely see her has Ariel🧜🏾♀️. I just think that she should still have red hair because it is kinda iconic for Ariel.❤️❤️❤️
The fact that so many people CAME for this young black woman playing a little mermaid named Ariel is truly telling of our failures as evolved beings. It's things like this that make me realize how superior I am to these feeble minds before me lmaooooo, but rly tho it's like I'm living in the twilight zone some days.
Seems like the ones truely butt hurt are people like you since you seem to feel an unbridled need to lash out at people for simply disagreeing with a casting choice. Grow up.
Adults complaining about how Ariel looks : this movie is for kids and I don't think they care about it. If you're not happy about how a fictional character looks, don't watch it. If you think your childhood memories will be ruined, go watch something else, but stop giving excuses for racist behavior.
The people who didn't like the casting choice aren't racist. When it comes to disney making live actions, people are always mad about the casting choice because they don't look enough like the character. They were mad about Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Alladin. People always send hate about the lead princesses because they feel they don't fit the role. Halle is only getting more hate then them because she doesn't look like Ariel at all. I'm not supporting the hate. I'm just saying it's not exactly about race
The Polynesian guy who was casted for Aquaman didn't look like the original cartoon. Neither did Nick Fury from Avengers who was an originally white character in the comics. But yet nobody complained about them. So why is THIS suddenly an issue?
@@northstar5072 exatly Nick fury was black and no one complain so its not about race,Ariel is different she is a Disney princess,if you cant understand so you dont grow up watching movies like little mermaid, cinderella, snow white etc
I Think shes beautiful and talented but i think Disney did her a disservice not giving her something new and custom to her. Amanda Seyfried would have been a better choice.
@@northstar5072 Because like I said. She's a Disney princess. People are always so picky when it comes to Disney princesses. I saw sooo many people say Naomi Scott wasn't dark enough for Jasmine (even though I disagree with that) people were mad about Emma because, of multiple reasons. (Emma's great and all, but I personally don't think she should have been bell either. That doesnt mean she deserved hate for it though) People can be so passionate about Disney and they want the live action to be just like the original. I don't know why comic book readers aren't the same way. I think Halle is great. Her voice is so beautiful. And she has acted in the past. I just wish they would stop making live actions in general. And instead make more animated films. Instead of being lazy and putting a POC in an already done film, they should make another POC animated film. One where shes not a frog most of the movie.
People always have something to say about black girls smh and act like a ton of black characters were changed white cause they “fit” the look better smh
I agree.. it's not about racism.. we just wanted to see the Ariel we love.. she will look good for The Princess and The Frog live action remake instead... if there is!
I don’t understand why some people have such a problem with them casting the ariel as black . I understand that they have grown up to see Ariel as A white character , so seeing this change can make them feel a certain type of way , but they need to understand that within Disney there has been an under representation of black characters / princesses , it’s only in recent years that we have seen more characters of colour , but for years us coloured girls have grown up to only see white Disney princesses . The only coloured princesses we had were princess tiana , princess jasmine , Mulan, who wasn’t even a princess , but is still a bad ass and now we can add moana to the list . Although this is some form of representation , not all , but a lot of coloured girls already grow up with the idea that westernised beauty is what is beautiful , so for young girls to see that the majority of Disney princesses are white , only adds to the issue . Now that Ariel is going to be played by a black female , this can now help broad the spectrum , for little girls and boys ,on which Disney character they choose to identify with , again this would only be the second black princess , but it’s a start .
Did these ppl take into consideration who actally auditioned for the role?...out of the lot she is best....she is innocent looking, has an alluring ethereal beauty to her and she is a bad ass singer!!!!
True, provided it isn't politicized.....but here lately every time this has been done it has been....so you can see why people are hesitant to support it.
Sad she had to start her career against that bull.. but she knows now all the obstacles she will have to face throughout her career. And get thick skin. These racist devils are still alive and kicking.
Can black people/girls and women get love like dang yall white folks have all these white princesses and the POC princesses are normal and the whole movie Princess and the frog Tiana was a frog the whole movie ..... like can black folks get something to themselves without white folks messing it up, and also mermaids arent real and princess and the frog was based off a real person!!
I don't recall a real woman ever turning into a frog but that sure as hell would be something to see. Princess and the frog was still a white story (founded around France and German culture) they black washed instead of using an actual story based on true cultural significance for black people. Keep in mind sure they did use a real person but they butchered her story to the point it wasn't her story anymore therefore the validity of her being based on a real person is not relevant anymore. Hans Christian Anderson based all his stories off of norse gods and goddesses as well as norse legends making the little mermaid a significant white cultural icon so no I'm not thrilled with this because they took from another persons culture in the name of diversity rather than making a new exciting story for us all to enjoy.

i guess white people are so privileged to understand all this, im not black but im not either white, i have a pretty tan/brownish skin, and it is kinda sad that growing up there wasn't representation for people like me, so i can't imagine how was for black people, i grow up telling myself i was ugly because i wasn't white and it's just heartbreaking to think there's little kids thinking like that too now, i remember saying i wanted to be the mermaid on Halloween and stuff and people told me i couldn't because i wasn't white,so i don't think the privileged class has a saying in here, Halle is an AMAZING SINGER like AMAZING her voice is so beautiful and she has prove already her acting skills, so why is this still a conversation when people say this is about skin color then why are they arguing still smh
These young girls are absolutely gorgeous and Bless. Please enjoy your youth: do not rush time, enjoy your innocents, and keep GOD as your creator, not man.
Soooo talented!!
Ah the price of fame! Halle is so young, sweet and of gentle character that I cannot begin to imagine how she handles all of this negative energy, but if I know anything at all, she probably does it with grace. So glad they have each other!
I just hope she maintains her integrity and doesn't let Hollywood corrupt her. She's a promising star and should be taken seriously.
@@supermariof0521 if they're mentor is literally beyonce, they'll know how to maintain themselves and not getting ruined by the pressure of hollywood
@@idaf3028 That's good.
Wasn’t the song “pretty hurts” that caught Beyoncé attention
Yes
In all honesty I think it works. I think it goes well with the Caribbean culture
exactly, no danish or italian influences in the movie but multiple caarribean. And even if it is danish I don't think people realise there are black people from there and all around the world
I'm from the Caribbean' and I approved this comment.
I enjoy the stupidity of some people. Hell if you can have a Jamaican crab, damn it, you can have a BEAUTIFUL BLACK mermaid.
Oh and let's not forget that it's about a mermaid who wants to be human. So she can go from a fish to be human, but she can't be black, WHATEVER!!!
Period. I don't know why grown ups are getting mad over a child's movie.
I can’t wait for the movie.
Last samurai- tom cruise nobody said shit
Zorro- catharina zeta jones, nobody said shittt
Cleopatra- elisabeth taylor, nobody said shittttt
The mexican- julia roberts brad pitt, nobody said shitt
A mighty heart- angelina jolie, nobody said shitttt
Ariel a mermaid, not even real- everybody has shittttttttttttttt to say!!!!
i think they harmonize even when they speak
As a black girl with dreads, I'm so happy to see the representation🥺🥺 a Disney Princess who finally looks like me❤❤❤
No one will ever have hair as red as Ariel naturally so no one will ever look exactly like her so you know its deeper than color
Yeah...no...you are trying to impart actual racism into people simply disagreeing with a casting choice. The problem here is deeper..but it is also you. people like YOU are the problem.
No it’s about Color. If she were white people would be praising her and say she is perfect.
@@idaf3028 I should've put hair color as that specifically was some arguements
@@ummlykomg if u mean no one has the same shade as Ariel then yes
I hope their parents know how spiritually beautiful these young ladies are. They have raised AMAZING women and they should be so tremendously proud!
She's so beautiful why people talk like that i think she's perfect for Ariel😍😍
Guys they said they’re like Billie cause they write their songs from their bedrooms and are self thought musicians. Just like Billie and her brother. And they’re all vegan too. Lol
She perfect💝its a sadnis in 2022 some peaple are so mean ,lets keep on suport prinssses Halle🤩
People always seem to forget that Halle played on Tyler Perry's House of Payne as Jazmine (China Anne McCain's) friend on that one episode.
Yh Tiffany
Oh Gosh, I just Cant wait!
I just love them..
I Love Billie Holiday Too.
I’m excited that you’re playing her can’t I think they made a good choice
What part of this was untold? 🤔
Loved!
It’s not like you can see the person doing the voicing of Ariel.
Angelina Cole dumbass
Lmaooo omg what are u talking about
Its a live action remake, not another animated version. People will be seeing her gorgeous face through the entire movie lol
I love Halle as Ariel! She has such an amazing beautiful voice and I can definitely see her has Ariel🧜🏾♀️. I just think that she should still have red hair because it is kinda iconic for Ariel.❤️❤️❤️
Red dreds yesss
So excited for her! She deserves it ✨🖤
wait they not twins omg i thought they were twins i would not have ever known if i didn't watch this i'm so embarrassed!!!! they look so ALIKE!!!!!!!
Sooooooo love there hair
They should do princess and the frog live action and Chloe should play Tiana
The fact that so many people CAME for this young black woman playing a little mermaid named Ariel is truly telling of our failures as evolved beings. It's things like this that make me realize how superior I am to these feeble minds before me lmaooooo, but rly tho it's like I'm living in the twilight zone some days.
Mad or not she’s still going to get paid so to all you butt hurt people deal with it 😒
Seems like the ones truely butt hurt are people like you since you seem to feel an unbridled need to lash out at people for simply disagreeing with a casting choice. Grow up.
Halle is beautiful
Beautiful spirit
We wanted Cleopatra and Jesus with brown skinned too but we don’t always get what we want now do we?
LOVE ME, LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME, LOVE ME, LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME✨✨✨✨
that alone made people SHUT UP
Lol y’all can hashtag all u want ... she still our Ariel 😂😂😂✌🏿✌🏿
Your side sure hastags a lot for being so condescending don't you think?
They all can be classics black or white . Inspire period
Sure at first i was in the mindset of nah she cant be the danish mermaid, but now I am curious about the outcome
BLACK EXCELLENCE!!!
@@twjr2855 Amanda is too old to the role
@@northstar5072 Because like I said. She's a Disney princess. People are always so picky when it comes to Disney princesses. I saw sooo many people say Naomi Scott wasn't dark enough for Jasmine (even though I disagree with that) people were mad about Emma because, of multiple reasons. (Emma's great and all, but I personally don't think she should have been bell either. That doesnt mean she deserved hate for it though)
People can be so passionate about Disney and they want the live action to be just like the original.
I read Halee Berry, I need some sleep 😫
She looks exactly like Ariel & they better dye her dreds red or I'll riot.
they did, more ginger, but still red
☄🔥
People always have something to say about black girls smh and act like a ton of black characters were changed white cause they “fit” the look better smh
They are just upset that she makes a more gorgeous mermaid
I agree.. it's not about racism.. we just wanted to see the Ariel we love.. she will look good for The Princess and The Frog live action remake instead... if there is!
ARE YOU SERIOUS.
people are really upset because her skin color. And why can't they just try to do something different. I think Halle will do great😊😊😊
I don’t understand why some people have such a problem with them casting the ariel as black .
White actors played Indians, Asians, Hispanics, etc so what’s the problem
Plot twist, Beyoncé is gonna be Ursula
Did these ppl take into consideration who actally auditioned for the role?...out of the lot she is best....she is innocent looking, has an alluring ethereal beauty to her and she is a bad ass singer!!!!
Halle is magical beautiful. She has a magical voice. She looks like a fairytale. Name one who fits as Ariel better!!
I love them!! I do admire Halle... she's so precious 🥰
If we can turn a fictional character, Nick Fury, into Black man, the same can be done for Ariel.
True, provided it isn't politicized.....but here lately every time this has been done it has been....so you can see why people are hesitant to support it.
Lizzo needs to play Ursula
Sad she had to start her career against that bull.. but she knows now all the obstacles she will have to face throughout her career. And get thick skin. These racist devils are still alive and kicking.
Have mercy
Billie Idol is a totally different singer than Billie Holiday
I love the sun too. Congratulations on your success ladies.
@@twjr2855 i can see where your coming from but in the black version her race had everything to do with the story if you payed attention to or if you seen it but as a black person i would love for my race to have a story of their own but sadly it wont happen
@@k_wonnnj So why cave and take someone elses culture? Why take and not demand better from disney? Tell them this is unacceptable we want our own character not a used one?
@@twjr2855 the little mermaid was around a Jamaican crab and every time you heard the music it was a reggae kind of beat and if u ask me why was little mermaid white in the first place... and also as black people if we demand something were seen as "angry black folks" instead of wanting change so we have to watch what we have to say and how we say it.
@@k_wonnnj Dude you are grasping for straws lmfao and you are making shit up there was only two songs under the sea and kis the girl that is it and he was only one crab with the accent everyone else was not jamaican. Again no point at all.
The original story wasn't red haired. It said nothing about her complexion or hair color. Who cares honestly. She's an intelligent young woman who is a great role model for little girls. All that matters.
I prefer ariana as ariel
Hence halle is good
I love how she is black and I have no problem with it but she needs to have red hair
Halle is a true black queen.
