    I want you to know how much I am drawn to your channel and it's like you're taking all these words right out of my mouth. You've been helping me try to put my own words together to break down the same shit. I'm 41 so I can say that I've got some definite wisdom at this point but I want to explain how it happened. You're helping a lot.

    I rarely leave any comments on here, but I wanted to say that this video has really shifted some perspectives I had, and right on time, since it's the new year (not that we have to wait for a new year to start to make the changes we want). My bestfriend and I share your content all the time, in fact we both have a small notebook where we keep notes and reflect on what you so kindly and brilliantly have shared with us. I

    "This might be a nice video to help me start thinking."
    Then I realized you were talking directly to me and every point hit home.
    This was so nice to find in my recommended and I am so glad I stopped to watch. I have suffered with Perfectionism my entire life and now, at 35, I finally realized I have to make a change. Thanks for all your hard work and I hope your foot heals quickly!

    My goal is to consistently incorporate the gym into my weekly routine. I’ve been on a health journey for almost a year now. And I have a FEAR of the gym due to my perfectionism. Because I am scared of dedicating time and not seeing results, or falling off. Like you said the fear of even starting because I feel like I’ll fail. This video has been so valuable and eye opening thank you!

    Love this! TH-cam has been recommending you to me for over a week and now I know why 😃
    You speak my mind on most things, especially comparing my home to those we see online. I’m actually good at cleaning and being tidy but I don’t like the whole “white minimalist” style. I’m beginning to accept things as they are now and I thinking i’m gradually winning my battle against perfectionism.
    Thanks for this video. New subscriber here 👋🏾💯

    This really helped me put things into perspective. "I have that information, but it doesn't mean it has to be at that caliber for people to get value from this video", really struck a cord for me because it's totally better putting it out there with a less than ideal quality than not at all. Thank you for sharing!!

    My New Year's resolution is to be more consistent and show up for myself. For years I’ve been in a mental paralysis. I didn’t feel like I was good enough to achieve the life I wanted, so I didn’t even try. But I’ll be 30 this year and I don’t want to continue living my life in stagnation.
    I started working on this in late October. I wanted to get a handle on my anxiety, so I started meditating everyday. Even on the days when my chronic illness rears its ugly head, I meditate. It looks different everyday, sometimes I can do 30 mins and sometimes it’s just 1 min of intentional breathing, but I’ve been trying. Currently I’m on a 23 day streak, and I already see improvements. With a calmer and clearer mind I’ve been able to work on other aspects of my life as well 😊

    • @charlottemorabito
      @charlottemorabito  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Thank you for sharing this. It sounds like you’re feeling really discouraged, and that’s a difficult place to be. Letting go of perfectionism can be challenging because frequently it feels like the thing that holds everything together. But it’s important to remember that letting go of perfectionism doesn’t mean giving up on yourself or your goals… it means allowing yourself room to learn, grow, and be human.
      When we’re overly perfectionistic, our self-worth often becomes tied to the outcome of what we do. Letting go of that can feel disorienting at first, like losing a safety net. It might even lead to setbacks, which are a natural part of growth, not a sign of failure.
      Sometimes, the key isn’t to completely let go but to redefine success. Instead of aiming for "perfect," try aiming for progress. What would it look like to celebrate small wins or to recognize effort, even if the result isn’t perfect? You were able to comment on a video today. You did something right. You're engaging with content to hopefully make yourself better. You're doing that right. You can do a lot of things right, but you're probably taking all those little things for granted.
      You’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes working with a therapist or coach can provide a safe space to explore these feelings and find new ways to move forward. Be gentle with yourself-you deserve grace and patience just like anyone else. Please check out my video on self-compassion. It pains me to see you being so hard on yourself.

    • @evergreenforestwitch
      @evergreenforestwitch 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Obviously, take this with a grain of salt since I don't know you, but perhaps you might want to consider how you define success and failure. I fail at 100% of the things I don't authentically want to do because if I don't have an intrinsic desire to do it, it's not important to me and therefore I will never find it important enough to devote the time and resources necessary to accomplish something I don't want to do. One of the biggest perception shifts I had was when it clicked that the reason I could never get around to putting up a profile on a dating app is because I don't actually want to date anyone. I don't stick to long-term weight loss goals because I don't actually care what size I am. I was trying to date, to lose weight to meet standards society, my parents, my unconscious assumptions thought were important but I didn't. Once I got clear about what actually IS important (community, not partnership, flexibility and vitality, not weight loss etc) then I could work towards goals I DO care about and not only do I make forward progress, because it's an authentic desire, when I do inevitably miss the mark or fall off the wagon, I intrinsically want to get back to it because it's a genuine desire, not a task motivated by the thought of my inadequacy which makes me want to avoid life and doom scroll. I wonder if reframing your expectations of yourself in this way - which is a process, it takes some introspection and journaling and time to suss out - might circumvent this perfection loop you find yourself in. No matter what, I sympathize and wish you relief.

      Minimal viable product is a huge shift for me! I have a business idea that is huge and overwhelming, but I am very excited about. This idea is really helpful in moving the goalposts so I feel ready to move forward now, not once everything is decided. Another great video, so sorry about your foot. No weight bearing is soooooo difficult! I used to work in ortho, that's a challenge and it really does affect your healing. Good luck and thanks for sharing!

      @evergreenforestwitch 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @charlottemorabito I'm on the mistakes part of your video and just realized I left this comment in a thread instead of a new comment - very on point LOL Yeah, that's tough. The thing I realized in ortho is that we fully do not appreciate how our whole body is affected when one part is off. Ankles and shoulders stop you in your tracks - the struggle is real when you live in a world made for bipedal able bodied organisms and you no longer are. The mental effort of strategizing how to function while injured is almost as bad as the actual injury. And then when when you can walk on it again, your proprioception (how you guage your body in physical space) will be off and you'll have to reconnect your brain to your newly healed body part. It is A LOT of work to recover from being injured. Thank you for sharing while you are, do take care of yourself and be very kind and compassionate as you struggle. You are doing so very much right now. ❤️
