Same here! Here it is July 3, 2024 as I'm typing this, and I will never forget seeing YES live in 1985 in the third row watching them play this song. It kicked butt!
Yes has saved my life so many times. There's something so special, spiritual and magical about the music. It's truly heaven on earth! Thank you Chris for being part of my life. I miss you my friend!
I love Steve Howe and the original line up but 36 years later this album still blows my fucking mind. One of the best albums ever produced. Rabin just killed it!
Best bassist ever. My favorite of all time. After I heard what Chris could make happen with the bass I was hooked. It wasn’t even so much what he was playing as much as where bass could move the song to. And that powerful voice is unmatched. This album showed they could move into mainstream pop and still innovate music like prog rockers. That is genius on so many levels. Miss you Chris and I know I will see you in heaven.
Best bassist ever! Best drummmer ever! Best singers ever (Jon and Trevor)! Best guitarist ever! The only thing that would’ve made this lineup even better for me is Wakeman…but Tony stills rocks the hell out of it!! RIP Chris & Alan, BEST RHYTHM SECTION EVER!
@@mattleppard1970 that was an amazing project! Saw them live in 2017, couldn’t have asked for a better night! I was focusing on Trevor the whole time😂he’s arguably my favorite musician ever, and without question my favorite living musician…
Watching Trevor and Chris having a great time playing together is just priceless. Thank you Yes for your amazing music. More than 40 years listening to their music and never get tired of doing it. Muchas gracias!!!!!
2024 , Brasil.... Meu pai escutava, eu escuto.... YES é bom DEMAIS , vocais fora da curva, allan na bateria um monstro, cris no baixo, anderson no vocal, meu deus que banda fantastica
@@philrawlings1769 obviously Chris WAS Yes, but he couldn't have kept the band together the way he did without first Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes joining for "Drama" (1980) and then just a few years later reform yet again with Trevor Rabin as head songwriter and Tony Kaye coming back into the fold again on keys.
They don't write songs like this any more. I had my daughter memorize the words to the bridge (talk a simple smile, etc) when she was 8. She had no idea what she was saying (even I still have a hard time understanding it), but she knew it was epic, even then. Now she's 16. Still knows every word. Timeless.
ppsayl123 reading your story made my day! My daughter is 8 now & she loves the Beatles. I wanna expand on that I think she might be ready. She has a great ear for music at 8.

O grupo Yes é uma das melhores bandas de Rock que já existiram. O Trevor Rabin alem de ser um dos melhores guitarristas do mundo também é muito criativo.
And now it’s 40 years old. Crazy! Production sounds so fresh it DOES NOT sound 40 years old! Man it feels like yesterday when we were talking about Relayer’s 40th anniversary. Oh how tempus fugit!
One of the best things about Yes videos from the 80s is the contrast between the passing fashion fads and the timeless songs and incredible musicianship. Those of you who are or were professional rockers know how hard it is to pull of performances at this level. My old band played Genesis and Floyd but couldn't think of playing Yes.
@@DaseinClimbs Moving Pictures is much more refined and palatable - Rush make all them weird time signatures flow together seemlessly and the lyrics actually mean something xD
I had every single one of their 8-tracks back in the day. Yeah, I know I just dated myself lol I've always loved Yes, Old and new, they will always rock! And the fashion of the 80's worked for them as well. Gotta love Chris's outfit lol Thank you for uploading this video :)
Just amazing. 5:45 to 6:50 Trevor & Chris really are like "sunshine". Just gorgeous musicianship, and indeed from Jon, Tony, & Alan as well. What an exuberant song.
Dear Yes, I love that song because it's so understatedly political. I heard you perform the song on November 5 in Chicago. I thought it formulaic at the time. Weeks later it, along with Trevor and Lift Me Up resonate still. Still miraculous after all these years; even if not at first glance.
Tracy McLellan I saw them in Philly in October, and I saw every yes tour from TFTO until 2011 Fly from here. I did miss Drama, and heard it was underrated though Trevor Horn was not out to sound like Jon Anderson though Jon Davidson tries to. Can't compare ARW to this performance- the musicianship and the electricity onstage, but ARW still sounded so good and I hope they return sounding even better with an even better set list.
I meant to mention in my comment Perpetual Change. I sat through almost the whole concert November 5. Even though a lot of people were at times on their feet. Unusual for a Yes concert, of which I've seen about 35. And couldn't stay off my feet for much of lots of them. Part of the lack of enthusiasm at the time for me can be attributed to complicated reasons of consciousness. Like I said, the concert seemed formulaic at the time. I was kind of disappointed. I only held on to my seat and stayed because of the price I had paid for the ticket. Indeed, I left at the first notes of the encore, Roundabout. Been there, seen that. But weeks later Trevor's song Lift Me Up was still reverberating in my head. And the more I pondered the understated politics of especially those two songs, the more profound a political statement the concert impressed me as. Might have been nice to hear Gates of Delirium.
Yes, jrock, as Roy Batty says at the end of BLADERUNNER, "Time to die." Know how you feel, as I saw these guys in concert--Renaissance Festival, Bonner Springs, KS--when this came out. It was raining at the time, and by the time Jon had finished the "sunshine, shine on" lyric, the rain had stopped--and he milked it for all the "magic" that was in it!
I try to shy away from a “best ever”. Too many quality musicians, different eras. With that said Keith Emerson, Freddie Mercury, Chris Squire are in a category all thier own.
I've been listening to this song since 1984 and never get tired of it. This song is amazing whatever the version.

As a studio drummer in the 70’s it is a fact. Alan White, one of the greatest drummers ever. Accept It
All hail Trevor Rabin.
He brought Yes into the 80s, and pulled off a miracle in music.
Trevor is awesome and so underrated/appreciated

Neil Peart is my favorite rock drummer, right next to Bonham and Keith Moon. But, you have to give credit that is it still a fantastic solo.
