Just spectacular! These old geezers still send shivers down my spine. Who would believe that only Jon, Trev & Rick could sound like this, in their senior citizen period of life. It's so sad that they never seemed to get along in this great band. Just imagine what it would be like, seeing/hearing all original members back together, just once more. (RIP Chris)
Lakritstomtegubbe That would be very cool.....the other Yes members are currently about half way through their 32 shows tour of the U.S....would be nice for the 2 groups to unite for at least one last time.
Hernán Gustavo Munné You are correct....they did reunite for their induction into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, which was long overdue, but....missing from that lineup were...original members...Tony Kaye and Bill Bruford (who is retired, but who was present for the induction speech), and of course Chris Squire, and Peter Banks... (both who are deceased )...and former members Patrick Moraz, and Trevor Horn. Geddy Lee (Rush), filled in for Squire, and did an AWESOME job. It was also very thrilling to see Jon Anderson singing again with Yes. Alan White, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, and Rick Wakeman, rounded out the lineup. It was an Electrifying performance.
That's true. However, I believe the feelings were quite bad between some of them. From what I can remember, Mr Howe didn't care much about shaking hands or even notice Jon/Rick during the ceremony. There still seems to be alot of bad blood going around, wich I find so incredibly sad. These geezers aren't getting any younger, & by each year a reunion seems more & more unlikely. Well, they're all grown ups, and of course they all have their reasons (i.e: pride). One can only hope that peace could be found, within some near future.
Lakritstomtegubbe Very True....lots of bad blood between Howe...and Anderson...possibly also Rabin and Wakeman ....it's sad....because life is too short for pride, and other things...such as disputes, and vanity, to ruin a longtime bandmate relationship, and then we are gone...Anyway you look at it though. ...Yes is one of the best bands ever.
Wow,!!! These guys still are rocking, my 1st gig, was 1984 I'm really great full to here the real kind a fusion rock, yes I said it fusion rock, God bless them
topdroog I saw them in London in June, brilliant. Iain Hornal (ELO, 10cc etc) was subbing on bass/backing vocals here/ in June so Lee would have been back with them in September, hope you enjoyed as much as I did.
I was at this gig and it was amazing! Never really liked the old Yes with Howe that much to be honest. More a fan of the albums with Rabin they did. So I was very happy that I could see them in this setting at Sweden Rock. And they were awesome! Thought Rabin sounded really good and his singing also contributed in a big way. Can't compare it to the old days as I've never seen them in the 80's but I enjoyed them very very much!!
Agreed, Philip! I’m not a real big fan of the old Yes either. I like progressive rock but old Yes was a bit boring, in my opinion. I like that there was still some progressive feels & rhythms in the 80s but love the more rock & roll touch that Rabin brought. I’ve heard the demos from Cinema, the original name of 80s Yes before Anderson joined, and I’m very glad he did because he was the missing link for 90125.
Trevor reported he had a hand injury for some of the tour - not sure if he had it here for this performance or not. What struck me most was how great Jon sounds
On n'entend pas beaucoup la guitare basse. Dommage parce que ce n'est alors plus tout à fait du YES. Le son de cet instrument n'y brille que par sa presque absence.
Rabins usually sledgehammer wailing, no subtle nuanced melodies here folk's, I'll look and click for the actual proggers of the 70s, The magic that was YES.
You're insane. Trevor could not begin to play Close to The Edge, Siberean Khatru; Going for the One; Tempus Fuget; etc... he's a hack compared to Steve Howe.
I agree. Insanity is very likely the issue with Nick. Not much else could explain such thinking. Either that or a complete lack of musical knowledge. @@BluesLicks101
@@BluesLicks101 He cant really play his own stuff anymore, usually a missed note every 10 seconds. But you are right, Close to the Edge for instance would have to have new guitar parts written if he was going to attempt it. Edit: I personally dont care about mistakes, just noting it would be a struggle to properly attempt any more of the longer yes pieces knowing there is a bit of a degradation in execution after his extended time away from playing guitar on a regular basis.
Trevor was struggling in this tour. Tough to watch him missing and choking notes, getting out of tune and covering up for that speed effect he used in the solo. He was such a mind-blowing player with incredible speed and precision! One of my all-time favourite guitar players, for sure. It's not easy to reproduce that level with rusty hands after so many years.
He'd had surgery on his hand not long before these concerts, and was still in recovery. Assuming that some of you critics play, as well - you'll know how difficult it must have been for him.
@@wandamundy1759 Yes, definitely. A few weeks ago I broke a finger on me fretting hand, and although it's healed, it's not 100% back to what it used to be and I feel the difference. I lost some agility on that finger and that makes a huge difference the faster I try to play. And I'm definitely not a fast player for today's standards.

This song always had taped vocals since 1985, here I think they just sang them, but they are a bit better than Yes normally did this in any year so who knows.
@@evankeal By the harshness of the comment I'm not sure if we can have a civilized conversation about the topic, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Here's why I'm pretty sure this is playback: the hand movements in, for instance at 9:50, 9:59 and 10:10 do not match the sound that's coming out on the speakers. I have played this song uncountable times and I have some insight on Trevor's style, so I feel comfortable making this claim. Some of that mismatch could be due to a delay pedal, for instance, but he's not stepping on anything - and applying the effect on the back (by the sound engineer for instance) would imply the solo is not improvised. Also, he seems to be "hiding" his guitar, which is something new and kind of exclusive to the solo part. He does that in numerous other videos on the Hold On solo part. I stand corrected on the "entire" - it seems it goes back to live sound at 10:35, after that speed picking part (which also sounds "cut").
@@aeg_music I missed some of that, when hes cranking an unpleasant high note, he then moves his entire arm down while it's still cranking, so I would agree that little section when they do the stops seems taped, but why the tape is so bad I cant explain.
Yes so good symfonic rock and voices are in round going in to be number one hit we remember it masters on stage must say Bravissimo ☆☆☆☆☆

Jon Anderson IS the voice of YES. THERE IS NO OTHER!
Anderson hasn't been the voice of Yes since 2004 and, happily, won't ever be again!
Now THAT'S YES!!
Nothing like seasoned musicians. Love it.
SIMPLY A M A Z I N G love them all.

Thanks for the upload. Saw them at a earlier year at Sweden Rock. And at Scandinavium-Gorhenburg 1984.
Trevor Rabin=Guitargod
Just realized the SE of this song is prototype of ‘Push’ by Trevor Rabin 2023.
How cool to open with Cinema!
Great Trevor Rabin...desde Buenos Aires argentina
