Biligara is nothing but Borax and Spatika is Alum. We studied indicators like litmus paper in school, and turmeric (Arishina) is one such indicator that changes color when in contact with acidic substances such as lime juice (citric acid). It's impressive how the ancient people possessed such a deep understanding of chemistry.

Can't thank you enough for this. When she mixed ghee to the kumkuma powder , I just had one doubt in my mind , whether It was Desi ghee or not. She even answered it herself in the final monologue. So glad they are taking care of Desi cows. Going to order kumkuma from them . Thanks a lot again for giving us access to authentic Bharatiya products. Ram ram .

"Kumkuma" is not just a colour. I am fan of traditional Kumkuma. It has many benifits and it is antibacterial too.. I never appreciated chemical colour being used as Kumkuma now a days.
Amma prepares turmeric powder (Arishina Pudi) in home for our use. It's aroma is extraordinary!
