Dr Speigel, I am very comfortable with my speaking voice. Is there a way to maintain my normal speaking voice while increasing my range for singing purposes , as a male?
I'm curious. This type of surgery, in years past, have had pretty poor results but when you say you can't speak for two weeks afterwards, certainly people might cough, sneeze or other such thing, isn't that going to mess things up? So what if a person does that and your work get damaged? Can you correct the damage?

Is laughter affected by this? This is important to me, as all the vocal therapy in the world isn't going to give me a genuine feminine laugh.
When the voice is altered, all aspects are! While the way someone laughs is unique to the person, the pitch of it should change.

Great question! While every surgeon hopes to avoid any sort of revision surgery, we're also lucky that there is typically a 'fix' for everything.
