This game was a lot of fun even though the tracks looked a lot different than in the movie. I think they should've added a part before each race where all the cars are lined up and you have to use Nitrox 2 to get up to 300 mph and open the portal. Sucks that all the licensed cars were replaced with Hot Wheels designs, though.
This game was freaking awesome, one of the best racing games, and one of the best hot wheels games ever! I used to play the heck out of this on PS2, and I didn't even know there was a PC version. That menu music is radical, too! They sure don't make Hot Wheels games this good anymore, Climax did a great job on these games, in fact, I miss them!
I heard there was going to be one on the PSP but after Acceleracers got cancelled it got reworked into a generic Hot Wheels game called “Ultimate Racing”.

It's funny, I played this game my entire childhood with no sound, because there was some kind of error during installation that my dad couldnt fix. Still had so much fun, but it's weird coming back years later and listening to the music and sounds. It was like being deaf haha

I just now realized why Taro, Chuvo, Lani, and Markie’s cars in the movie aren’t in the game, (They’re actual cars in real life and thus the game makers didn’t hold the copyright to them) but why the hell is Harrison Lau’s Red Baron car replaced with Sooo Fast?! edit: So I looked it up, looks like the Red Baron was an actual car and was also a model car kit, before it was a car.

These stats never existed in the movie, they never detailed it, but they all go 300mph in the movie, and seem to all handle the same. Also Scorchers didn't win because of movie logic. The main character Will win 99% of the time in movies. Taro, the only driver on the team to have any speaking lines, kinda falls under the no-nonsense, unimpressed personality. More or less, the Squidward of Hot Wheels. lol
zed-36 isnt an unlockable, it is aquired through a cheat code that gives slingshot an alternative paint job. the last collectable in the gallery (item 100) tells you a cheat code that you use to transform slingshot into zed-36

To me, Vesuvius and Krakatoa are standouts from the Scorchers team. Not only are their cars (Quarter Mile Coupe and Muscle Tone) so cool, but their names are so cool. The fact that they are named after two of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world makes them cool in my eyes.
I seem to noticed they changed all the non-Hot Wheels cars. Like Taro's Roadrunner changed to Overbored 454 and Markie's Stingray changed to Golden Arrow and Lani's Chevy Nomad changed to Nomadder what (Wait, hold on O_O). Playability is not the issue, installability is. It runs just fine on my win 7 pro, 64bit, 8GB comp, but you have to install it on an old XP computer first, and good luck finding one of those nowadays.

I don't understand why in the game some of the drivers don't have their own car like in the movie version for an example Taro in the movie drives a 70 Road Runner but in the game he has a different car.

Pretty much all licensed cars from the movie were replaced by fantasy castings due to licensing issues. Sooo Fast and Greased Lightnin' replaced Moto-Cross and Red Baron because they had open canopies/cockpits. MS-T Suzuka replaced Wild Thing due to its absurd body design that was too complex to implement into the game.

I hate how they changed the real cars from the movie into other Hot Wheels cars instead. Like Taro's Plymouth and the Dodge Charger R/T. Kind of stupid they changed those out. Still an amazing game.
Seriously, not making the Moto-Crossed because you can see the driver trough it? it ain't that hard to make the model and try to put it in the game (the driver model), same goes for the Red Baron... (fun fact, in Hot Wheels Turbo Racing, cars like the Go-Cart or the Red Baron don't have any drivers, it hilarious) And what about Wild Thing? Not only could you not see the driver trough it, but it's a hot wheels original!, and don't come up with "it doesn't fit the game", Mattel, how the f*ck could you make the Dune Ratz spiked tires function on that? How could it use nitrox and do the wheelie? damm And why are Ballistik's lights the exaust in this game (and they add some random lights next to the windshield on the back) and I don't remember Sling-shot's sideskirts being black (And on the small icon for selecting the car, they are violet like the original, what the f*ck?) on the bright side Maelstrom looks awesome
Interesting how the cars in the game have side mirrors while the ones in the movie did not and only a couple of them in the movie had a review mirror (the 55 Nomad, the Corvette Stingray, the Switchback, the Mega Duty, the Plymouth Roadrunner).
I'm having a lot of trouble getting all of the pickups in Emerald Crater. There is one jump where I swear it is impossible. Do you suggest a certain car for that?
ZED-36 and the other secret car don't show up on the car select screen. Even when enabled it just sticks a "Cheat!" sticker over the icon leaving the preview window unchanged.
@somebodythe5th Maybe if they added some kind of story mode... the quick race mode would still be there but a story mode could be added that would follow the events of the movie. I also think it would be cool to hear the characters talk over their radio systems like in the movie. Maybe something like Star Fox 64.
I don't expect someone to see this commentary, but I've noticed that the Krazy 8s is the only car in the select screen that doesn't slightly tilts due to the movement. Probably because its engines are built in its sides. Also, fun fact: Apparently, Krazy 8s is the only car equipped with an automatized transmission, similiar to the ones found in F1 cars. That's because the cockpit is too small for it to have an actual shift lever.

I don't understand why in the game some of the drivers don't have their own car like in the movie version for an example Taro in the movie drives a 70 Road Runner but in the game he has a different car.
Licensing problems most likely.
I guess idk also Mark Wylde drives a different car in the movie and a different car in the game too.
@@corbinpyles cars in the game were all hot wheels originals but, taro and mark had a plymouth and a corvette and those were licenced cars so they couldn't make it into the game.

Pretty much all licensed cars from the movie were replaced by fantasy castings due to licensing issues. Sooo Fast and Greased Lightnin' replaced Moto-Cross and Red Baron because they had open canopies/cockpits. MS-T Suzuka replaced Wild Thing due to its absurd body design that was too complex to implement into the game.

Why is Mark and Lonnie and Toro driving a different car? In Acceleracers 1 Toro had his Roadrunner and mark/Wild, nobody knows where his Corvette went...
I hate how they changed the real cars from the movie into other Hot Wheels cars instead. Like Taro's Plymouth and the Dodge Charger R/T. Kind of stupid they changed those out. Still an amazing game.
I forget which race unlocks which car, but getting all 100 rings and finishing first on every track will unlock everything.
Seriously, not making the Moto-Crossed because you can see the driver trough it? it ain't that hard to make the model and try to put it in the game (the driver model), same goes for the Red Baron... (fun fact, in Hot Wheels Turbo Racing, cars like the Go-Cart or the Red Baron don't have any drivers, it hilarious)
And what about Wild Thing? Not only could you not see the driver trough it, but it's a hot wheels original!, and don't come up with "it doesn't fit the game", Mattel, how the f*ck could you make the Dune Ratz spiked tires function on that? How could it use nitrox and do the wheelie? damm
And why are Ballistik's lights the exaust in this game (and they add some random lights next to the windshield on the back)
and I don't remember Sling-shot's sideskirts being black (And on the small icon for selecting the car, they are violet like the original, what the f*ck?)
on the bright side Maelstrom looks awesome

Interesting how the cars in the game have side mirrors while the ones in the movie did not and only a couple of them in the movie had a review mirror (the 55 Nomad, the Corvette Stingray, the Switchback, the Mega Duty, the Plymouth Roadrunner).
I'm having a lot of trouble getting all of the pickups in Emerald Crater. There is one jump where I swear it is impossible. Do you suggest a certain car for that?
ZED-36 and the other secret car don't show up on the car select screen. Even when enabled it just sticks a "Cheat!" sticker over the icon leaving the preview window unchanged.

Maybe if they added some kind of story mode... the quick race mode would still be there but a story mode could be added that would follow the events of the movie. I also think it would be cool to hear the characters talk over their radio systems like in the movie. Maybe something like Star Fox 64.
The cheat only changes the ingame appearance, not the menu screen appearance. Besides, they are secret cars!

I don't expect someone to see this commentary, but I've noticed that the Krazy 8s is the only car in the select screen that doesn't slightly tilts due to the movement. Probably because its engines are built in its sides.
Also, fun fact: Apparently, Krazy 8s is the only car equipped with an automatized transmission, similiar to the ones found in F1 cars. That's because the cockpit is too small for it to have an actual shift lever.
