Not really. Duros were Ship Builders. They had use for them until they defected along with the Sullustans.
@@justinlast2lastharder749 The Tarkin Doctrine would still see them as inferior due to them being nonhuman, so there's no way they'd let them continue to produce anything just on that principal. If they didn't outright exterminate them, they'd enslave them or sell them as pets. The Empire was incredibly abusive to aliens, so that's why they either aided the Rebellion or fully joined them.
3:42 one reason may be that, at least in Legends, the Duro Sector was merged into the Corellian Sector by the Empire, depriving them of senate representation. Considering Duro was a founding member, this insult probably helped with other causes for them to join, such as the Empire's general xenophobia.
Also since they developed hyperdrives sooner, and where major spacefairers, it's possible they may just be a more common species in the galaxy then we would think, having set up colonies across the galaxy and mixing into the major spaceports. After all they did found Neimodia which grew into its own major world and created several colonies.
The Duros contribution to space travel in the early days is really commendable. It's funny how many stories focus on human based starship fliers, but so very few on any Duros.

3:48 I remember reading in some book that when the sectors were being redrawn in the Empire they put Duro in the Corellian sector and thus actually removed their direct representation in the Senate and that was one of the things that made them generally anti-Empire.

In legends at least, Neimodians would pretend to be Duros since everyone hated them and they were persucuted mercilessly by the Empire. That pretending would start to rub off on them, and by the time of the New Republic, they had adopted the more honorable customs, but with the added flair of being good at business.
