Dear Arab Man, from my experience life is as it is, with better and worse, and as time goes on you end up not having expectations that you will see something extraordinarily good. So the emotional reaction of many of us to Nightwish is this: "Thank you for having the chance to see and hear something so beautiful, in this life full of mediocrity and half measure." All the members of the band have strong and distinct personalities, they are all extremely talented professionals, and they all have the emotional availability to give themselves completely on stage. Such a thing cannot be counterfeited, it would be felt immediately. I think that's why we love them subliminally, because they are a breath of fresh air we all need so much.

Troy (the flutist here) has been a regular member since 2013, guest musician before that. He was asked to join at the same time as Floor. They've been using him more and more throughout the years; in Wacken 2013, he was on stage for three songs, in Buenos Aires 2018 for more than half of them. Also, his influence on the band's music and lyric has grown over the years: besides diverse whistles (low whistle here) he plays the uillean pipes (Irish bagpipes), guitar, bouzouki etc.etc. and does some singing, mostly background, two songs as lead. He has also contributed to the band becoming expressly secular (though most members are atheists anyway: Floor, Tuomas and Troy are outspoken atheists, Marko is "agnostic"). I don't know if Floor makes eggs in the morning. :) She is almost vegetarian, though, the only meat she eats is hunted elk meat from near where she lives in Sweden. What does she do all day? Right now, being visibly bored and frustrated because the band can't tour, but enjoying her forced sabbatical and the family time she didn't think she would get. If you don't already know, she lives on a small farm in southern Sweden (she is Dutch, though) with her husband (the drummer of Sabaton) and her three-year old daughter, Freja. She owns two horses and two cats and enjoys horseback riding. She also likes to work in the garden, grows her own veggies and apparently has started to write some music for a solo album. Check out her channel. She has the basic ideas for her own outfits (no one tells a goddess how to dress!) and goes with them to a trusted designer (there are several ladies she has cooperated with), who then design and make her outfits according to her guidelines. She normally does her own stage makeup, but on this particular occasion she had help from a professional makeup artist. Troy...guy playing the flute...is a permanent member. He had only just gained that status shortly before the Wacken 2013 show you’ve been sampling, so only appears a tiny bit in those videos. As you watch videos from subsequent shows, his presence will become more pervasive. He plays flute, whistles, bagpipes, bouzouki, guitar, and is emerging as a third vocalist. When you watch I Want My Tears Back from the Wacken 2013 show you’ll see/hear him playing the pipes. Oh, and Floor has a personal channel where she’s been showing what she does in everyday life.
André Somers Uilleann pipes are a type of bagpipe, just like other types of bagpipes such as border pipes, Highland pipes, pastoral pipes, Scottish small pipes, Zetland pipes, etc etc etc. They all use air blown across reeds by use of a bag. But yes, since being hyper specific seems important to you, the BAGPIPES Troy plays are, specifically, Uilleann pipes.
If you want one with yet another dynamic, try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" and pay close attention to Floor in particular... most reactors don't usually pick up what's going on!

IMHO what separates a good and a great guitarist is that the good ones plays the instrument, the great ones makes the instrument sing. It's the best explanation I've come up with to easily describe the difference.

I can lose myself in their music and these days (I recently returned to Nightwish after a 12 year long "break") I _never_ put their music on in the background. I always make listening to their music a dedicated activity. At times, this leads to what I more or less feel is a transcendental experience. This is the power of _truly_ good music; the ability to transport you into a different world. Yes, I completely agree regarding your comment on being "tasteful". This goes for any musician, really - vocalists, drummers and what have you. For instance, David Gilmour (another favourite musician of mine) might not be the most technically advanced guitarist out there, but he's able to channel his soul through his instrument and that makes a world of difference! While I'm a Swede with a rather rudimentary grasp of Finnish pronunciations, "Tampere" is pronounced more like "TAM-peh-reh". The "a" in Nordic countries tend to be open, in this case more like the beginning of "eye". I hope that I'm not nitpicking here 😊 Edit: Oh and as a rule-of-thumb, all letters in Finnish words tend to be pronounced seperately. For instance, the first Finnish word Floor learned was (perhaps not surprisingly) "perkele", one of the most common Finnish swear words 😁 It's not pronounced "perkeel" or something like that, but rather "PERR-keh-leh".
I was going to add that the emphasis is usually on the first syllable as well. Finnish is so beautiful. As is Swedish :) And Arabic. My one superpower wish would be to be fluent in every language.
This man is so in love with Floor, it's adorable! I feel you, bud! I discovered Nightwish one day when I was looking for study music, so I decided to put the Wacken 2013 show on my TV, as I had heard of them before, so why not? Well, so much for that! Far from focusing on my vector calculus, all I could do was stare, slackjawed, at this stunningly beautiful dark angel, with a voice to match. Who was she? What sorcery was she casting on me? I was hooked!
It is a real pleasure to watch you immerse yourself in the world of Nightwish. You are already excited .... but - believe me - it will get even better ... this is not because the next songs are better, but because you understand more of that nightwish feeling ... although, my favorite songs coming ... so try next: Storytime and then Ever Dream (both Wacken 2013). Been a nightwish fan for a while when floor came along i was not sure how it would sound..but she does her own thing and she does it with clarity and power,as for tarja she still out there and one very good duo worth a listen is Tarja Turunen - 14.The Phantom of the Opera (Act 1 DVD) got some real power to that stage.

What I have personally knows about Nightwish and all their songs the reason they're so good is everything they do is in service to the music not to themselves. There is only the joy of making great music and you see it in everything they do. Side now if you want to see how versatile floor can truly be check her out on best of zangers.
Ahhh, you've only just begun with Nightwish and their army! Floor has SO many facets to her vocal range and styles! She's sweet and beautiful, she's raw and wicked and she GROWLS! There's nothing she can't do! A couple more songs for you to check out are Song of Myself, Romanticide and Storytime from the Wacken concert. She also did a tv show called Beste Zangers where she sang not only songs from different genres, but she also sang different languages! It's a lot to take in, and a very deep rabbit hole, but you seem to have jumped in with both feet, so enjoy the ride!!
The Islander Official music video is also worth a watch. It was Nightwish's first use of Troy (pipes), and iz so very good. If you want to hear another by Marco, I recommend 'While your Lips are still Red". ^.-.^
What I love about everyone in the band is, that they all dedicate their talent to the music, to the song. There is no intention, to show off. If Floor's voice is needed for the song, to backup Marco, she does it and enjoys it, for the love of the music. Everyone does. Check out the acoustic versions of "How's the Heart" and "Nemo". There is Troy, backing her up and the vocal harmonies are just beautiful. The new album "Human :II: Nature" makes use of all three singers, Floor, Marco and Troy, and it is full of great vocal harmonies.

First and foremost: thank you very much for these very nice reaction-videos! What a joy to watch you discover the wonderful world of Nightwish. I promise you: no wasted time 😉. Of course there are songs from them, which I like more and some I like less - but a "bad" song I really never heard from them. I listened to them 20 years ago, but after I had gotten a family and my life became more mainstream, I lost them out of sight. Two and a half years ago I had nightshift (I'm a police-officer from Frankfurt am Main / Germany) and a colleague watched TH-cam-Videos while there wasn't something to do (it was a really quiet night). He watched the whole Wacken 2013 live concert, and I was blown away by Floor (in my opinion is Wacken 2013 the gold-standard of doing a live performance). Her range, her stage presence. And now, you gave me the opportunity to rediscover them again through your eyes. Your videos give me the same jaw-dropping feeling I had. Thank you for that. I think you are finally ready to tackle Nightwish's "The Greatest Show on Earth Live at Tempare" This same concert. It is a long one but DEFINITELY worth it, and it definitely helps to have the lyrics up on a separate monitor or to read over them before you watch it though to have a fuller idea of what the song is about.
Tbh im gettin a bit annoyed (too strong a word but cant think of better) with what people think is the "right" order to experience NW. Let people take their own journey in whatever order they like, its different for everyone. I get that its enthusiasm but... thats just how i feel about all the reactors getting handheld and piloted thru the content 😅
That instrument was built for Marko, they call it "the beast". It's a Warwick bass and a Framus semi-hollow body guitar built into one. Marko went to music school, he studied singing, theory and classical guitar.
If I am not mistaken her outfit is made by a fan of hers who owns, Royal Black Couture and Corsetry. You can find them on Facebook, she even did a more recent outfit for her as well.
Marco is a member of Nightwish (foundet 1996) since 2001. He has his own band Tarot and a project named Northern Kings. And he often performed as a singer with DelaIn. "What does she do when she wakes up in the morning?" you asked. "Make eggs?" …. Well she's been posting short vids on her blog about life stuck at home during quarantine. I think you would love watching them. Among other things she rides her horses on her vast farm, wields a sledge hammer to build fences, helps her husband (the drummer from Sabaton) dig ditches through the mud on said farm, plays with her cat and puppy, writes and records her own music in her home studio, and just in general does what Moms do for a toddler. I did get to meet her in person, and she comes across as such a genuine, down-to-earth, sweet, kind person. This sounded like a country song , you know, everybody sitting around the camp fire and listening to this story being told in song and after a while join in? That's the feeling I got. Absolutely sweet and charming. Very unlike the usual Nightwish repertoire. And that shows the range of the band's talent. They could do anything and make it sound fantastic.

Floor is a very down to earth and humble person. She does a live stream most weekends where she talks and shows her home life in Sweden with her family, although they never show their daughter online. There's also lots of interviews with her on TH-cam and she's lovely. Marko is a fantastic singer in his own right and also has his own solo career that is well worth looking into.

Its a Warwick Panthera that Marko plays, the upper part is a Warwick Bass Guitar the lower part is a 6 string Framus Guitar this was specially made for him, with some adjustments, but the normal doubleneck Panthera is available for everyone
Holy Shit. I just saw this for the first time myself. Of course I knew the song but I've never seen them perform it this way before. Marco was so incredible. They all were. You were too. I before liked that you asked questions and got answers from the off. I missed that a bit. Other than that, another great reaction video. So the emotional reaction of many of us to Nightwish is this: "Thank you for having the chance to see and hear something so beautiful, in this life full of mediocrity and half measure." All the members of the band have strong and distinct personalities, they are all extremely talented professionals, and they all have the emotional availability to give themselves completely on stage. Such a thing cannot be counterfeited, it would be felt immediately. I think that's why we love them subliminally, because they are a breath of fresh air we all need so much.

Troy (the flutist here) has been a regular member since 2013, guest musician before that. He was asked to join at the same time as Floor. They've been using him more and more throughout the years; in Wacken 2013, he was on stage for three songs, in Buenos Aires 2018 for more than half of them. Also, his influence on the band's music and lyric has grown over the years: besides diverse whistles (low whistle here) he plays the uillean pipes (Irish bagpipes), guitar, bouzouki etc.etc. and does some singing, mostly background, two songs as lead. He has also contributed to the band becoming expressly secular (though most members are atheists anyway: Floor, Tuomas and Troy are outspoken atheists, Marko is "agnostic").
I don't know if Floor makes eggs in the morning. :) She is almost vegetarian, though, the only meat she eats is hunted elk meat from near where she lives in Sweden. What does she do all day? Right now, being visibly bored and frustrated because the band can't tour, but enjoying her forced sabbatical and the family time she didn't think she would get. If you don't already know, she lives on a small farm in southern Sweden (she is Dutch, though) with her husband (the drummer of Sabaton) and her three-year old daughter, Freja. She owns two horses and two cats and enjoys horseback riding. She also likes to work in the garden, grows her own veggies and apparently has started to write some music for a solo album. She has the basic ideas for her own outfits (no one tells a goddess how to dress!) and goes with them to a trusted designer (there are several ladies she has cooperated with), who then design and make her outfits according to her guidelines. She normally does her own stage makeup, but on this particular occasion she had help from a professional makeup artist.

Troy...guy playing the flute...is a permanent member. He had only just gained that status shortly before the Wacken 2013 show you’ve been sampling, so only appears a tiny bit in those videos. As you watch videos from subsequent shows, his presence will become more pervasive. He plays flute, whistles, bagpipes, bouzouki, guitar, and is emerging as a third vocalist. When you watch I Want My Tears Back from the Wacken 2013 show you’ll see/hear him playing the pipes. Oh, and Floor has a personal channel where she’s been showing what she does in everyday life.

They are actually uilleann pipes, not bagpipes.
André Somers Uilleann pipes are a type of bagpipe, just like other types of bagpipes such as border pipes, Highland pipes, pastoral pipes, Scottish small pipes, Zetland pipes, etc etc etc. They all use air blown across reeds by use of a bag. But yes, since being hyper specific seems important to you, the BAGPIPES Troy plays are, specifically, Uilleann pipes.
If you want one with yet another dynamic, try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" and pay close attention to Floor in particular... most reactors don't usually pick up what's going on!

I can lose myself in their music and these days (I recently returned to Nightwish after a 12 year long "break") I _never_ put their music on in the background. I always make listening to their music a dedicated activity. At times, this leads to what I more or less feel is a transcendental experience. This is the power of _truly_ good music; the ability to transport you into a different world.
Yes, I completely agree regarding your comment on being "tasteful". This goes for any musician, really - vocalists, drummers and what have you. For instance, David Gilmour (another favourite musician of mine) might not be the most technically advanced guitarist out there, but he's able to channel his soul through his instrument and that makes a world of difference!
While I'm a Swede with a rather rudimentary grasp of Finnish pronunciations, "Tampere" is pronounced more like "TAM-peh-reh". The "a" in Nordic countries tend to be open, in this case more like the beginning of "eye". I hope that I'm not nitpicking here 😊 Edit: Oh and as a rule-of-thumb, all letters in Finnish words tend to be pronounced seperately. For instance, the first Finnish word Floor learned was (perhaps not surprisingly) "perkele", one of the most common Finnish swear words 😁 It's not pronounced "perkeel" or something like that, but rather "PERR-keh-leh".
I was going to add that the emphasis is usually on the first syllable as well. Finnish is so beautiful. As is Swedish :) And Arabic. My one superpower wish would be to be fluent in every language.

Been a nightwish fan for a while when floor came along i was not sure how it would sound..but she does her own thing and she does it with clarity and power,as for tarja she still out there and one very good duo worth a listen is Tarja Turunen - 14.The Phantom of the Opera (Act 1 DVD) got some real power to that stage.

Floor has SO many facets to her vocal range and styles! She's sweet and beautiful, she's raw and wicked and she GROWLS! There's nothing she can't do!
A couple more songs for you to check out are Song of Myself, Romanticide and Storytime from the Wacken concert. She also did a tv show called Beste Zangers where she sang not only songs from different genres, but she also sang different languages!

What I love about everyone in the band is, that they all dedicate their talent to the music, to the song. There is no intention, to show off. If Floor's voice is needed for the song, to backup Marco, she does it and enjoys it, for the love of the music. Everyone does. Check out the acoustic versions of "How's the Heart" and "Nemo". There is Troy, backing her up and the vocal harmonies are just beautiful. The new album "Human :II: Nature" makes use of all three singers, Floor, Marco and Troy, and it is full of great vocal harmonies.

He watched the whole Wacken 2013 live concert, and I was blown away by Floor (in my opinion is Wacken 2013 the gold-standard of doing a live performance). Her range, her stage presence. And now, you gave me the opportunity to rediscover them again through your eyes. Your videos give me the same jaw-dropping feeling I had. Thank you for that. I think you are finally ready to tackle Nightwish's "The Greatest Show on Earth Live at Tempare" This same concert. It is a long one but DEFINITELY worth it, and it definitely helps to have the lyrics up on a separate monitor or to read over them before you watch it though to have a fuller idea of what the song is about.

That instrument was built for Marko, they call it "the beast". It's a Warwick bass and a Framus semi-hollow body guitar built into one. Marko went to music school, he studied singing, theory and classical guitar.

I think you would love watching them. Among other things she rides her horses on her vast farm, wields a sledge hammer to build fences, helps her husband (the drummer from Sabaton) dig ditches through the mud on said farm, plays with her cat and puppy, writes and records her own music in her home studio, and just in general does what Moms do for a toddler. I did get to meet her in person, and she comes across as such a genuine, down-to-earth, sweet, kind person. Its a Warwick Panthera that Marko plays, the upper part is a Warwick Bass Guitar the lower part is a 6 string Framus Guitar this was specially made for him, with some adjustments, but the normal doubleneck Panthera is available for everyone
