IYour video is much better than that of Straightpipes (CA) ,Wouter Karssen (Autoblog NL), Bjorn Nyland (Teslabjorn). I think the main reasons are you categorized the features, showed them how it works, precisely informative and most importantly what is needed for day to day usage of a car. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, very informative video! Have you noticed if the parking assist properly detects side obstacles while parking, as all of the parking sensors are pointed straight forward/backwards? Cheers!
Thanks. I’ve since sold the car. I used to reverse in to some odd shaped, tight car parking spaces. I found the parking sensors OK, a bit over sensitive, and always better to get out and check if in real doubt :)

Does the electronic parking brake auto engage when the foot brake is down and the car goes into park? I can't find anything other than auto disengage on the Ioniq. My current Seat Leon does both.

I bought my first hybrid, a 2002 Honda Insight coupe, in 2004 and covered over 100,00 trouble-free miles in it. I am now on my second Honda hybrid, a 2012 CR-Z Sport which I bought in October last year, but have now decided to p-ex it for a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq EV Premium in Solid White which has been acting as a demonstrator for a local dealer for the last 2/12. The videos you have produced, Duncan, have been very useful and informative, and I look forward to taking delivery of my car on 1st August. I believe that, within 5-6 years the demand for most used (and new) petrol and diesel cars will have declined considerably and it will only be hybrids and electric cars which will be selling in any significant numbers. Manufacturers are going to have to phase out production of fossil -fuelled vehicles eventually and, together with advances in battery pack technology and installation of more charging points, electric cars will be the majority before long. The case for Hydrogen-powered vehicles is, I think, uncertain, although many Japanese manufacturers have stated that they are going to produce them. Honda already has the Honda Clarity in production but the fact is that, apart from the ability to refuel one in about 5 minutes, the overall costs do not compete with electric vehicles due to the cost of producing hydrogen, storing it and distributing it at a reasonable cost. This has been very well explained in one of the "Learn Engineering" videos.

Is it possible to know that tuning the rear heater also turn on the heated wing mirrors on the car.
Im very happy happy for you. A lot of these features are very handy when traveling. Here in California, we have only basic IONIQ. No features, no leather sits, no lane assist. $400 per month for 36 months. Lease only. I am very curious, what deal you were able to get on your car.

The availability seems quite limited worldwide. It's a real shame. I also don't understand why the specification levels differ from region to region. In the UK, for instance, we cannot get the sunroof, even though I would like it if it was available! :)

I just got mine for $89/month with $1,500 out of pocket. Includes all taxes/fees/etc. Hyundai over promised and under delivered on this car and ended up giving a $16,000 rebate on it. I work for Toyota and Honda, they weren’t happy lol. But I could have got three of these for a Civic. Best lease deal I’ve ever seen.
Also have a Clarity Touring Plug-in hybrid that I got a fantastic lease deal in February of 2019. The Ioniq’s regenerative breaking is twice as good as the Clarity. But the ride is no where near as refined. We plan on purchasing the Clarity as it’s more user friendly without restrictions for limited charging stations and inability to really do a road trip in the Ioniq and Honda just makes a far superior product. The short range on the Ioniq kills it for anything other than driving in a city. Not enough fast charging stations where I am to feel real confident about taking it more than a half hour from home. But at the crazy lease deal I and several others got this month. For sure worth looking into as an introduction to the electric vehicle market. Within a couple years 500 mile range EV’s will render this one obsolete. Lease in a heartbeat, think very carefully about purchasing as they won’t hold their value at all. Especially in 36 months when the market gets absolutely flooded with thousands of these things coming off lease return.

I have ioniq too, in Canada.There us one feature that is not working for me.
Its auto volume Increase with speed increase.Its somewhere in the multimedia setting.
Its nice feature but not doing anything.please can you try it out, maybe it depends on firmware.
Put the volume to 2 or 3, and see if it will increase when driving faster.

I've been umming and arring about whether a Hyundai Ioniq (BEV) would be a good replacement for our Zoe so that we can also be fully electric when we go somewhere with the whole family (three young children). I'm a bit concerned about the view out the rear, but this video really makes me want to buy one!
Great. If it fits your needs, it’s a great car and a cheaper option than the newer, larger battery but far more expensive price options

Thanks for watching! Not sure when we'll get a bigger battery version in the UK / Europe. 10-18 month backlog on new IONIQ Electrics, due to Hyundai's battery pack supply constraints. Here's hoping though. Already IONIQ more predictable and consistent than our old 24 kWh LEAF. At -5C IONIQ is giving ~115 miles (~185 km) quite easily so far... Not sure anyone has done range tests for it in Canada? Bjorn Nyland in Norway has gotten ~160km even in -15C there, I think...?

I dont have a lot of these features driving my bmw i3 94 ah Rex. Hyundai did a great job with the 28kwh version. Not such a good Job with the 2020 Model. Anyone here love their Ioniq 2020 Model and does the slower Charging cause you any issues. Also what enhancements have you noticed with the 2020 Ioniq ?

A few (at least) things you forgot :) (or didn't know):
- settings for seats also save / recall settings for display brightness settings
- side mirrors will point down when car is put in reverse if the mirror selector switch on driver's door is set to L or R
- there is a manual charge port open "string" thingy under the 2nd floor in trunk
- inside trunk and under the plastic thing there's another string you can pull if car won't release charging cable (you need a person to help you with that though)
If I remember something else, I'll post here. Maybe you can include them in a part 2 video? :)

I'm going to try the mirrors point down tomorrow. I miss my old LEAF's all-around view camera so more help with reversing in the IONIQ will great!
My rear view camera all around view is excellent. However, I had to remove the protective cover from the camera lens on the outside ! This should of course have been done by dealer at PDI. Have you checked yours?
Also you can switch on the light in the charging port by pressing a button in the charging port.
I don’t think anyone mentioned it, but when you put the car in reverse, it automatically reduces volume on your stereo. I thought that was super clever of them to do.
I wouldn’t really call it a feature per se, but the cubby area in the front holds my fiancé’s purse and keeps it off the floor. I work for Toyota and Honda and I see a lot of cars, this is something a lot of females would really appreciate in a lot of cars.
I also love that the car updates your driving range depending on the heat settings for temperature and fan speed. Maybe this is standard in most electric cars, but wanted to throw it out there for anyone that didn’t know. This was my biggest question living in western NY and having to pump the heat all winter.
Hyundai BlueLink for the duration of the lease for free is fantastic as well to control climate and everything right from your phone. The app could be a little more streamlined, but no major complaints from me. Hope this helped some others.

What's the white rectangle just above the rear number plate?
Q: Driving modes are selectable between coasting when releasing the accelerator or applying 3 degrees of regen. Is this all the possiblelities or is there an option to have either a dead band when releasing the accelerator before regen kicks in so you can choose to coast before regen or assigning the top of the brake pedal travel to regen, to the same effect?
Thanks. There’s no customisation like this sadly. The regen kicks in as you lift off in all modes except Level 0 (coasting). You’ll gradually start to stop even before using the brakes. I hope this helps?
Thank you. The reason I bothered you with that is the few EVs I've driven I found out that regen is efficient at high speed where air drag is high but so is motor efficiency, whereas coasting is more efficient at lower speed 35 or so mph because the back voltage from the motor needs to be boosted up to battery level and there are charging losses. Years ago I borrowed a Renault Kangoo that also didn't have coasting, but the workaround was to lift the foot at just the right rate so neither drive or regen kicked in and could just coast. so I'm following the trend of production EVs to figure out which ones drives as I expect. Another bad habit by some EV manufacturers is their emulating carburettor lag! I want throttle response to be instant as it can be in electric cars, The electric Kangoo had 0.5 second lag from I moved my foot to something happened either way and that made speed control more sluggish than it needed to be.

You mentioned the overheated battery warning. Have you or anyone else had this appear when charging or driving?
Also the traction battery warming function; can it be turned on to pre-warm the battery if you are going to fast charge and can it be turned on as part of your timed charging at home?
Not that I know of, sadly. And I never saw the warning light - but then I think my use of the car was quite gentle. But I haven’t heard of any overheating. Bjørn Nyland I think has done the most intense charging and driving of one in a short period… He may have a video on it?
Hello, could you please explain me one detail on the speedometer, there are many white marks around the speedometer and one of them is red. What does it mean? But there is no any red mark when the car is on ECO mode.
This one I can’t answer sorry - I sold my car almost 3.5 years ago so can’t easily reproduce this situation now :(

Don't know why in Spain there's no option for rear heated seats... only in the front, there's some cold also in Spain during the winter :D
Interesting. I would have thought standardising the same options would be cheaper for Hyundai to manufacture than the many regional variations in spec they seem to have...
Also lack the heated rear seats in our 2016 ComfortEco. In Sweden that is the variant with fewest options. The higher spec PremiumEco and PremiumPusEco (silly names they came up with) cars have heated rear seats.
Is there a way to be able to unlock only the driver's door on entry?
I think so... I will need to fiddle next time I'm in the car to confirm...

It's a Polar 32 Amp unit with a Type-2 socket. Seems to be working OK so far... 3 years and 9 months of reliable service so far...

After removing cruise control, breaking paddle don't break anymore.Very hard to repeat, next time it works.Could be dangerous and misleading.

I agree. Never seen the warning light. Never heard or seen any indication of a fan running :)
I realize this is 11 months ago and you likely won’t see this, but maybe it helps others who read the comments.
But remember this is an electric car, there is no grill with high speed moving air going through it to air cool anything that generates heat. I assume that’s why the fans are necessary.
