- In this video I will be sharing my experience using the RevAir. On my "Straightening my Natural Hair" video I received quite a few comments from people telling me to try this dryer. I have already tried the dryer and in this video I will be explaining why I prefer not to use it. I have nothing against the brand or the product. I am just sharing my thoughts and experience.
Thanks for watching! 😊

Hair FAQs
How long have you been natural?
All my life. I have never used any chemicals on my hair.
How long did it take you to grow your hair?
Hard to say. My hair has pretty much always been around bra strap length. Within the past 2-3 year I have been able to grow my hair to about tailbone length.
What heat setting do you use on your flat iron?
Hard to tell. My flat iron only shows the highest heat setting. Not sure the exact temperature.
How often do you straighten my hair?
One to two times a year
How often do you wash you hair?
Straightened: After about 4-6 weeks. It depends on how oily my hair is and if there is a lot of dandruff. I add little to no product to my hair so I don't have much build up.
-Mini twist: Every 2-4 weeks
How ofter do you cut/trim your hair?
-Maybe 1-2 times a year. I only/mainly do it when my hair is straight and I only straighten my hair about 1-2 times a year.
Do you have a Instagram? (Not a hair question)
Nope.
I returned mine after using it once. The revair was too bulky and honestly it didn't wow me enough to justify $400. My old fashioned blow dryer with the comb attached does the trick.
If you do the comb chase method with a brush instead, you'll see it straight far better. I have both RevAir and love my new one! It does cause alot of manipulation as with other dryers. I have them all. It's worth every penny! (3,500 of em!😉)
I just don't see myself taking extra steps. It's already pretty tiring on its own. I'm glad it works well for you 😊
Thank you for giving me the update on this blow dryer. I thought this would have worked well and I see that it does not. Will not waste my money trying to purchase.
Everyone's experience is different. Some people love the product. I just know what I am looking for and I didn't receive that.
My daughter has your exact same hair, texture, length and thickness. It’s a hair dryer and works better on wet or damp hair. I am able to get the roots dry and straight and when it’s done, it looks blow dried. I do use a small blow dry brush tool for a straighter look. The tension knob should be on #7 for type 4 med to coarse hair. I noticed that it takes a longer time to finish, if I don’t section and thoroughly detangle the hair first. I also use the Rev-Air to stretch out wash and gos. The only complaint that I have about the Rev-Air is that the hair has less movement than a traditional blowdryer but that is easy to remedy.
My hair was damp. I didn't include the clips of me using a spray bottle but I did use one because my hair was too dry. Thanks for the tips but personally it is just too much work for something that cost so much. I'll just stick what I've been using. 😊
4:18 I can’t handle a blow dryer and a separate brush either😆 I appreciate this review because you confirmed what I suspected- without a brush or comb attachment, the ends stay crinkly and don’t get polished/smoothed.
What i do for my ends is put in the last 4 inches in the machine only for around 20 seconds and then a put the rest of my hair all the way in
Also the type of heat protectant causes the hair to not look as sleek or make it look stiff
I've definitely found any spray heat protectant makes my hair hard with this. I have to use a more emollient heat protectant with this for sure.
thank you for the video. i had the same experience with the revair. it's not for everyone.
To be honest I think for the price of the revair dryer, the results for me should be sleeker and straighter. To me you get better results using a blow dryer with a brush chase method
I personally like blow dryers with the comb attachment or the blow dryer brush. I am able to dry my hair faster and it is not as tiring since its less bulky.
I have several higher end hair tools…I don’t mind the price. This dryer, however, did not work for me. It was too heavy & bulky. It hurt my shoulders a LOT. So, I returned it.
I typically don't mind the price if I feel like it is worth the money. I personally don't feel like I got my money's worth.
I had the same dryer… heated it for the exact reasons…. sold it😊
I'm totally confused by this video. How are you expecting the hairdryer to do anything for you when you use it on already dry hair? It's not a hot comb. It's not a flat iron. The way it works is by pulling at the water in your hair. Like literally, it CANNOT straighten your hair at all if on dry hair.
That said, I also found it tiring to use on the top of my head. It only takes me about 15-20 mins to dry and straighten my entire head enough to comb through and style or use a flat iron on for a more silky finish. But the 10 mins or so at the top of my head always makes me have second thoughts. It's much more gentle on my hair than my blow dryers with comb attachments though, so I keep using it, and just turn on the AC so that I don't overheat. That also happened to me the first time I used it. Was sweating for real!
I’m aware that it is not a hot comb or a flat iron. I thought that it would give me more of an effortless blow out but I’m that is not what I received.
Also my hair wasn’t completely dry. I believe it is supposed to be used on damp hair and that is how I used it. Although my hair looks completely dry it wasn’t. Also this is just clips from an old video but in the original I had more clips of me wetting my hair with a spray bottle. It was a hot day so my hair was drying pretty quickly. For any of the pieces that dried too quickly before I got to them I sprayed it with water. Regardless the product doesn’t really fit well into my hair care routine. Hopefully that helps with any confusion.
I wonder if the issue is how long your hair is. I do about 10-12 sections for only 40 seconds each, so my entire head is always under 15 minutes. My hair is only shoulder length though, and also my strands are thinner than yours. So sorry it didn't work for you. It's such a life saver for me that I wish everyone who can afford it could benefit as much as I have.
Only thing I could say about what you showed in this video is that you started on dry hair that you just spritzed to make damp. I find it only works to actually straighten my hair, not just dry it, if it's right after washing and only towel drying, then going right into Revair. Pulling at the water in the hair is a big part of the straightening process. Also, I didn't see you using the chase method with comb or brush when pulling the hair out. That makes a big difference. Putting the hair back in, when it's already dried, definitely isn't going to help. Really has to come out straight that first time you pull out the ends, chased by the comb/brush, or forget it until you drench that hair in water to where the hydrogen bonds release again.
Your section size was actually kind of small. Definitely not too much. You'll get straighter ends with larger sections, lower tension (like 4 tops), and high heat, for under a minute per section. Not sure if you have any interest in ever trying this device again, and also it really could be the length of your hair just won't work for this method, but sharing this in case you decide to go for it ever again.
What do you use to keep your hair moisturized
Try the dyson with comb attachment
What dryer do you prefer? Have you tried the Amika one that straightens and blow dries?
I mainly use one with a comb attachment. I’m not sure of the brand. I’m not really committed to a specific brand. I kind of like the Revlon brush but I can get better results on other people. I’ve only used it one myself twice.
I think you should give it another try and do a video, low heat/7 speed. Hi heat for pressed look.
I love the Revair, but you don't have to. My hair doesn't get that straight with it, but it's perfect for my twists and braids. I don't comb my hair, so it's not an issue for me. I definitely get less damage. I rest my arm on the back of the coach when I use it. It's okay that it doesn't work for you. It just doesn't fit your needs. I recommend selling it and getting some if you're money back.😊
Chile, I feel the same. I’ll stick to the tension method
My gosh I wish I could have yours since you’re not using it lol
Damm your hair is thick. Got mine over black friday. Luv it. But you are right about the ends. My are not straight as in mid shift. I don't care cause I put in twists anyway.
I had this problem and wrote the company about it. They told me to turn the suction down to 4, heat to high, use larger sections, and keep the opening flat against my scalp, just moving it horizontally a little if it started getting hot, but not pumping any, and you know it worked! I now do only 10-12 sections on my entire head, under 1 min per section (depending on how thick a heat protectant I use could be just 40 seconds per section) and use chase method with the big red comb that comes with it when pulling hair out of the nozzle. I get straight ends every time now! Always frazzled ends before.
You have beautiful hair.
Thank you!
Hi Mila!!! 👋🏾
Hey!!!👋🏾
This just shows how think your hair is. The sections you parted out was not large at all. And I totally understand trying to save time doing your hair. I was using the one step round brush. I loved how straight my blowout got but hated that my roots was still damp. Now use the paddle brush and blow dryer high heat high speed. I tried it because the professionals that do flat iron videos don’t use the one step dryers so I gave it a shot. Problem solved. Don’t try it without the concentration nozzle folks😅
Hello, how are you?
I hope you read my comment. I think I have the same problem with tingling which my ends. I want to have some stretch but not much. So I have been thinking about purchasing this dryer. For now it’s just to expensive for me. So would you consider selling me yours for a discount? If you could that would be wonderful. Let me know please.
I think it's the way you used it that's the problem. Your hair needed to be better detangled and not mostly dry before using.
As I mentioned in the video...I have used it more than once. The clips in this video was just from my first time I tried it. The other times that I tried it my hair was detangled and damp. Also I didn't include it in the clips that I used but I did use a spray bottle because my hair was too dry. I don't believe there is a 100% guarantee that is will work for everyone. Nothing against it....It's just not for me 🤷🏾♀️
@@milami. I totally get it that everything is not for everyone, and I didnt see that you used it other times so I apologize for that.Keep giving great content ,I will definitely be watching🥰
Why does mid shaft of hair matter if it's suckin, for lack of a better word, the hair down that tube apparatus regardless where it should straighten & flatten & (all the rest of it) the hair? envious folk need to stop lookin for reasons to harass those of us with a lot of long hair 😏
I’m not sure about the reasoning but it didn’t change much for me. I think people just wanted it to work for me like it worked for them 🤷🏾♀️
@@milami.
I hope that's all it was too, but with our culture & natural hair you can never be certain if it's not the green eyed monster 🤭
I listened to Mila's video before I responded to your comment. I understand your comment but, Envious...YIKES!!! Admire...think it"s lovely...Envious...NEVER! Mila said NOTHING about folks being envious of her hair sis! They were just commenting on her getting a better turn-out from the revair.
@MilaMi Thank you Mila! She doesn't have that type of vibe on her channel.
If you didn't like it, then I'm convinced..Thank you 😊 for sharing your experience.
I think the drier works for people with loser hair types
No it works on any hair.there are lots of Black women with those hair. It is a blow out, it is not meant to make your hair sleek.
Some people with tighter hair textures seem to love it. I think it just depends on what you're looking for.
