    Already the box-office achievement award is total bull s**t , but half of the noms there are beyond the pale!!! Thrilled with the love for The Substance though!!

      Yeah the box office achievement one is a bit of a mess. But they gotta retain that "old Globes" spirit somehow

    The director nominations were exciting.

    The real challenger of Anora is Emilia Perez not The Substance .

      You're probably right. I was living it up in hype for The Substance so I didn't really get to process Emilia Perez's record breaking nominations

    Why Denis Villeneuve was not nominated?? I’m biased because I’m from Quebec Canada, but common

      I’m really frustrated that he’s not getting more love as well. Dune 2 is one of the best directed films this decade so I think all these snubs are outrageous

    Are Outrun and I'm Still Here even in theaters?

    Tucci in Conclave was so forgettable, I don’t think he’s anywhere near a nomination!

      @FrakkinToasterLuvva หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He's not even the most memorable supporting actor in Conclave. Not even in top 3 IMO (and I love Tucci in general).

      @ absolutely agree!

      Really? I was a pretty big fan of his performance honestly. It wasn't the best of the film, but it didn't feel out of place or forgettable at all

    • @FrakkinToasterLuvva

      @@LoganLikesMovies It wasn't out of place, the whole cast was good. He just doesn't stand out from the rest of the supporting cast.

    It’s strange how non-english language film are handled by american prizes.
    It’s not exactly logic. They should remain in their own category or, on the other hand, really compete everywhere. If the last situation were the case, they should be in at least 50% of the nominations in every category. Considered the world cinema as a whole and all of its films.
    But what happens is a hybrid thing: just some international films, when exceptionally good, are invited to the party in other categories. It’s not exactly fair competition. They have to be very, very good (Fernanda Torres, Payal Kapadia), or a true phonomenon like “Emilia Perez”.

      Great point. I think there’s been a shift in respect for more non-English language films though. Just this decade we’ve had Anatomy of a Fall, All Quiet on the Western Front, Zone of Interest, and Drive My Car which have all been pretty solid competitors.
      Since the 2024 Oscars ended, I’d been saying my favorite to win BP for 2025 was whatever film won the Palme D’or which historically isn’t an American film.
      The trend of respect and celebration for these films should continue and grow steadily and I would be shocked if we don’t have another non-English film win BP in the next 5 years or so.

      @@LoganLikesMoviesI agree, the Oscar tends to embrace more and more internacional films in the future, as many of the Academy members come from different countries.

    It turns out Dune pt 2 was not submitted to that joke Box Office and Cinematic Achievement category.
    I didn't even know they had to submit to that category, but if they do, I'm not surprised they just didn't care, or didn't want it there.

    • @LoganLikesMovies
      @LoganLikesMovies  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Weird you have to submit for awards like that. Surprised WB didn't do that so they could say Dune got 3 nominations rather than just 2

    It's Emilia Parez that's stealing noms from Other good movies.. not Substance, it deserves all the noms..

    • @LoganLikesMovies
      @LoganLikesMovies  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. But Emilia Perez was predicted to get most of its noms. The Substance wasn’t

    Foreign language film is not a legitimate award?

      Yes it is with the HFPA being mostly foreign members.

      @rahulvinalnarayan9743 Well, he implied he thought it wasn't one of the "legitimate" awards in the video!

    • @LoganLikesMovies
      @LoganLikesMovies  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't know where I said that but I think I meant that the award doesn't really correlate with bigger "Best Picture" type of awards. Sorry for the confusion!

      @@LoganLikesMovies You said that All We Imagine As Light got one of the "legitimate" awards after it got Best Director.
