Almost forgot about this one. My dad did the cabinet art for this. Those are his signature cartoon characters. You can tell because he also did Toobin' which has some similar characters.
It does look like his stuff, I wonder how the timeline was on something like that, because they programmed similar characters in the gameplay.... I'll bet he came up with some concept art they could base the characters around in the game...
@@LyonsArcade Hmm...I'm not sure. I remember these games and Roadblaster were some of his last projects. I remember him really liking APB as a game the most. That was some great info you gave about it. It was a pretty involved game with lots going on. Thanks for explaining how and why it got to be that way.
I had this game back in 1999 or 2000 when you couldn't get more than $100 for one. I got it for $50 with the seat and later sold it at a Super Auctions sale in Atlanta around 2004
This has me in tears, playing it. Beating confessions from perps, before you got caught.... plus there is a warp screen.. seen it done on the railroad crossing.
There was once one of these cabinets in a bowling alley bar in my town that's since been town down. My dad bowled there on Thursday nights and sometimes we'd go watch with my mom. Depending on which bartender was working, my brothers and I would sometimes be allowed to go to the back of the bar and play this game. Good memory, thanks for the video!
Very cool story Andrew, I appreciate you watching... just think, all of these machines have memories they've 'witnessed' with people all over the place, probably 10's of 1000's of people played this particular cabinet, maybe it was the one you played? See you on the next video!
The only one of these I ever saw was also in a bowling Alley bar in South carolina. Wasted so many quarters on this thing and never got really far. It's sort of like a Grand theft Auto prototype. (The original PS1 GTA).
Hey Joe, first time viewer and subscriber here. So I have a question about that Police Chief, is it me or does he not sound uncannily like Mr. Magoo? Thanks for uploading this, the sounds and graphics of this game instantly transported me back to my 9 year old self. I stunk at APB but it was fun to try something new.
I've always loved this game but have never played an actual cabinet (I don't think I've ever seen an actual cabinet - must be rare in the UK). It's kinda tricky in MAME, without the steering wheel.
The sound the game makes at 13:40 sounds just like well pretty darn close to the sound Super Mario World uses just before you enter a boss castle. Wow did Nintendo rip off a sound from Atari? Kinda looks like it... check it out, its only the first few seconds as Mario enters. th-cam.com/video/pYi6xPnFovM/w-d-xo.html

This was my favorite arcade game growing up. I’d love to play it again!

This used to be one of my favorites in the arcade I used to go to as a kid.
There used to be a sit down model of this.
It's actually this same cabinet! It had a seat that bolts on, but it's often missing.
I see. Thanks for replying!
You do a good job on each of these style videos. Thank you.
One of my favorite arcade games! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Quadrun2, it's something special but very tough to play!
I like the SST in the background 😍😍
It's funny how much of the audio (SFX, some of the music) is shared with Roadblasters.
I think back in the day that stuff was expensive to create so they reused the good stuff :)
Very fun game but I never got very far on it. Love the cabinet.
Yeah some of these games are almost evil hard. Great idea for a game though...
This was my fave game at Dairy Queen
Good Old Dairy Queen :) Around here we have some places called "Dairy Bars" which I'd never heard of before I moved here. Thanks for watching C Ward!
I used to love this game!
i had one of these. sorry to get rid of it, needed tires for my lemans. havent seen one since:(
Im 14 and I used to play this game alot because my dad used to buy old arcade games off eBay It was so much fun until my dad sold it
+Robby Madden Very cool.... when you get a little older man you'll be able to buy one yourself if you have the room!

I stink at it too, and have video proof! Yes, he does sound like a Magoo rip off :)
Any chance you've seen one of these for sale that is a similar quality to the one in your video?
I haven't seen one in a long time, this was the only one we ever had.
If you ever come across one again, please let me know! I would be interested in it. Thank you!
I have one for sale but I live in Italy.. Same quality with + operator booklets and atari lynx with apb sealed as a gadget 😆
Dustin Carter email me if you want one
I remember this one
Manchester has this.
7:57 for the police chief talking sound.
+cashmoneymarvelous They really did a good job on this game...
Joe's Classic Video Games That's the Speak & Spell Speech Chip!
I always thought it was funny when you crashed. The noise and the little dance he does.
I'm trying to sell this actual game it's been Complete rebuilt
still have it?
I can tell you never played this game before restoring it, nice work though.
+bigswerboski I'm horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible at most of them! I like bringing them back to life more than playing them to be honest.

I remember seeing this, but it was not a favorite.
I remember, used to own an arcade in 80's, chase hq was better

That's just an old horror movie element, they probably did something similar in a lot of the Scooby Doo Cartoons too :)
Haven't seen one in years. Not exactly one of my favorites
